house select committee investigating the january 6 attack on the capitol convened today for a last-minute public hearing. a former assistant a donald trump former chief of staff detailed what happened leading up to the violent riots. >> the former white house aide revealed that donald trump at his top officials were aware that members of the crowd attending his rally had weapons and there was the potential for violence. >> karina nova joins us with more of the bombshells from today's testimony. >> there were a lot of

revelations from cassidy hutchinson a former aide to mark meadows. she went into great details about what the president and his staff knew about possible violence prior to january 6 at how the president reacted that day. hutchinson said president trump, meadows, and rudy giuliani did not act on concerns of violence days before the insurrection and on the morning of january 6. hutchinson explained president trump planned to join his supporters at the capitol on january 6. she described his alleged reaction when the secret service said it was not safe to go. >> tony described him as being a rate. the president said something to the effect of, i am the [ expletive] president, take me to the capitol now. bobby responded, sir, you have to go back to the west wing. the president reached out towards the front of the vehicle

to grab the steering wheel. mr. ingle grabbed his arm. he said, sir, take your hand off the steering wheel. we are going back to the west wing. we are not going to the capitol. mr. trump then used his free hand to lunge towards bob eagle. -- bobby ingle. when he recounted the story he motioned towards his clavicle's. the secret service would like to respond to the assault allegations under oath but confmed that the president did try to go to the capitol january 6. hutchinson gave her account of what was said and done in response to the hang mike pence chance that day. >> i remember bob saying, mark, we need to do something more. they are literally calling for the vice president to be[expletive] hung. mark responded, he thinks mike

deserves it, he does not think they are doing anything wrong. >> the president of the united states, donald trump, said "mike deserves it." and those writers were not doing anything wrong. >> hutchinson said that mark meadows and rudy giuliani did seek a pardon. president trump responded to today's testimony. he claims he hardly knows hutchinson and she is just upset she didn't get to work in mar-a-lago. >> today the california department of justice reported a 32.6% increase in hate crimes from 2020 to 2020 one. the attorney general rob bonta said the numbers are likely in undercount. even so, hate crimes have released a level not seen since the aftermath of 9/11. antiblack hate crimes were the most prevalent overall, increasing 12.5%. for the second year in a row andy asian hate crimes increased

-- anti-asian hate crimes increased by more than 100% from the year before. >> each incident rep -- represents an attack on a neighbor, a family member, a fellow californian. we know our statistics are not exhaustive. too many are too afraid to come forward. >> the attorney general announced a new position, the hate crime coordinator to work with state and local >> law enforcement officials. >>now to the laid out -- latest on the fallout of the supreme court re-froze are a roe v. wade. at least 13 states have ceased nearly all abortion services. existing laws in idaho, kentucky, and texas are facing lawsuits. laws in louisiana, utah, and texas are on hold due to legal challenges that may only last a few days. planned parenthood is asking for longer injunctions to bar the loss from going into effect. >> how long that will last, i do not know.

video. but those living in a state without abortion ban can only be prescribed the medication if they travel to another state that allows them. organizations like repo care make it easier to find funds for printed people to get the access they need. >> gas money, food, childcare. >> it was started by bay area native morgan love. on abc this week the governor of south dakota announced she will ban telemedicine appointments with abortion care providers. >> i do not believe that the telemedicine abortions are safe for individuals, for women to conduct at home. many times they do it unsupervised. >> the abortion pills were approved by the fda. >> choosing to self manage abortion is not medically risky, it is very safe. it could put shirley be criminally risky -- potential nelly be criminally risky.

>> constitutional lawyer kate shaw appearing on good morning america warned about the upcoming enforcement challenges. >> if a woman is a self-administering using the abortion pill, i think there is every possibility that a local prosecutor could bring charges. we are in uncharted terrain. there is absolutely the possibility women could face criminal charges. >> people in states without a bed like california are being reminded there is such a thing as advanced provision, in other words, buying the pills now in case they are needed later. >> somebody does not have to be a confirmed pregnancy or pregnancy test. they can say, i am of childbearing age and want to be prepared. >> details have an extended shelf life. >> instagram and facebook are removing any posts offering abortion pills. they could be somebody in california willing to mail peel's -- pills somebody in texas that enacted a law prohibiting sending abortion

pills through the mail. like guns, abortion pills now fall under the category of regulated goods. in the newsroom, lyanne melendez. >> leanne, thank you. >> the person suspected of shooting and killing somebody on a muni train last week pleaded not guilty today. how the suspects family is responding to the charges. >> javonte green pled not guilty to charges stemming from a fatal shooting last week on muni. >> people really need to understand there are two san francisco's. you have san francisco then what we call frisco. >> members of green's family were in court along with his mother. they did not want to show their face on camera. green, a security guard, is accused of fatally shooting 27-year-old bowen on a muni train with a self-described ghost gun after bowen attacked greene with a knife. the lawyer arguing the case against green claims surveillance video of the attack. they are not filing homicide charges admitting green acted in self-defense. lawyer stated green's conduct

was "wildly dangerous." green's family members say they did not know green owned a weapon. >> this is about people pushed. this is about people pushed to do things unimaginable. this is a kid. now, the city needs to deal with that on a larger scale. look at these cases. >> despite illegally carrying a weapon on public transportation, the judge says the defendant has a clean record and released him on a $75,000 bail. if discharged green is subject to house arrest and not allowed on certain muni lines. a bail hearing is set for friday. >> i had, a woman killed while trying to cross the street in the south bay. tonight police are searching for the driver that left the scene.

lower. longer. appearing through the country. now the cdc is stepping up its response. >> in the bay area the most recent case was in the south bay. abc7news reported luz pena spoke to the team tracking the virus erased -- wastewater. >> the cdc took a step further to respond to the outbreak. the agency said they are activating the emergency operation center to meet the outbreaks evolving challenges. meaning, more eyes will be on the virus. in the bay area, several monkeypox cases has been detected in the last week.

>> of the last eight days, four days we had samples that are positive for monkeypox, in an area that is the west side of san francisco we were monitoring. >> marlene wolf is the principal investigator of the sewer coronavirus alert network. her team has been monitoring wastewater samples for covid. now they are also processing samples for monkeypox in hopes to stay ahead of a potential community outbreak. >> we are looking at the monkeypox virus dna, genetic markers of the virus, not the infectious monkeypox virus, but, the presence of the marker in the wastewater. >> last night they confirmed in the first detection of monkeypox in santa clara county. >> among people infected, there is viral shedding. in various ways through the lesions that happen, through oral secretions, through urine and feces, likely, the virus ends up in the environment. it could end up in wastewater. >> you chs infectious diseases

hit-and-run early this morning in san jose, the city's 21st pedestrian fatality of 2022. police found a woman outside a crosswalk of south jackson and kammer avenue around 5:00 this morning. she was pronounced dead at the scene. sam residents are worried for their safety. a resident who wants to remain anonymous said the area is filled with reckless drivers. >> we need to take care of this. there are way too many accidents. this is not the only hit and run there has been since i have been here. >> that is san jose's 35th victim of the year. police are searching for driver with a possible 2018 or 2020 honda accord.

the company has applied for permits to open a store at 1525 44th street in the former narrow bread located in the shopping center next to target, bread -- best buy, market -- michaels, and home depot. the fast food chain has faced backlash for its donations to anti-lgbtq groups and comments by its ceo. it does not care when this location will open. >> tonight california's great america amusement park in santa clara will close its doors by 2033. following yesterday's announcement that the park has been sold. quotes this news brings to mind another iconic family theme park in the south bay that is now just a memory. abc7news reporter dustin dorsey takes a look back. >> threw a rod, water slides, memories made to last our lives. great america has been a staple in the south bay for decades, now set to close its doors after being closed. >> it was heartbreaking.

it has been an icon in the valley for generations. >> stephanie's family got to visit a park for the pre-opening day celebration at -- in 1976 and she would work as a performer. they shared the stage many times. this week the two took a moment to look back on those days. >> working there, eventually, the memories and the friendships we made, i mean how many years later? 40 years later, we are still with -- still reaching out to each other. >> now just a memory like the entire park will be in 11 years time, reminiscent of other self-pay hybrids like santa's village in the mountains and frontier village in santa fe. >> one of the first rides i operated a frontier village was the roundup, located in this area. >> i brought my dad out to show my sister and i wear the amusement park he worked at as a kid once stood. the wild west themed park was
