to fireworks. of course, no illegal ones. those are very dangerous. the big push is always to get people to go to public displays of fireworks. for areas that are now safe and sane, they permit them. counties like contra costa and santa clara just last year imposed these really serious enforcement actions against those who set off any fireworks. they sent a pot lines for neighbors to report that their neighbor is setting something off. there is increasing vigilance around fireworks of any kind. in the east bay, i am leslie brinkley abc7news. dan: thank you. ama: in the north bay in a few months cloverdale residents can vote to ban fireworks. other bay cities have recently taken this action. on the peninsula, san mateo is closing several city parks monday night and try to prevent people from sitting off illegal fireworks.

don't have a problem accessing the abortion pills but many are wondering about the legal implications of those who do not have access and try to get pills in the mail. organizations that support women are being inundated with these questions. whets our call volume has gone through the roof these past few days. lyanne: that is the consensus among dozens of organizations that support people seeking abortions at home. the abortion pills are used in the first 10 weeks of pregnancy. patients must first consult a doctor in person, by phone, or by video. but, those living in a state with an abortion ban can only be prescribed as a medication if they travel to another state that allows them. organizations like repro care make it easier to find the funds for pregnant people to get the help they need. >> they will help people get gas money, food, childcare. lyanne: repro care was started

luz: today the cdc took a step further to respond to the outbreak. the agency said they are activated -- activating the emergency operations center to meet evolving challenges, meaning, more eyes on this virus. in the bay area several monkeypox cases have been detected in the last week. >> of the last eight days four days we have had samples positive for monkeypox in an area that is the west side of san francisco where we are monitoring. luz: the principal investigator of the sewer coronavirus alerts network. her team has been monitoring wastewater samples for covid. now, they are also processing samples for monkeypox in the hopes to stay ahead of a potential community operate. >> we are looking at the monkeypox virus dna, genetic markers of the virus, not the infectious monkeypox virus, but the presence of the virus in wastewater.
