during the january 6 attack on the capital. reggie: honoring those killed at a party event in norway. they're growing memorial in san francisco. kumasi: a live look outside, you can see as we look out, it is going to be a cooler day today in the last few days. drew is tracking all of that. reggie: let us start with the accuweather forecast. drew: you saw the gray sky, kumasi should do the rooftop camera picture. a little bit of fog, not too dense. visibility as a marine layer is close to the surface, also bringing cooler weather, especially inland by about five to seven degrees cooler. 50's on the board from concord to san ramon to livermore, 50's on the bay shoreline and cooler in parts of the north bay. parts of sonoma county waking up to temperatures in the 40's. a live look outside, certainly a june gloom kind of morning.

exploratorium camera showing you a lot of fog, we have afternoon sunshine again. it is cooler compared to yesterday. a closer look at temperatures coming up in about eight minutes. kumasi: the fallout from explosive testimony during a last-minute public hearing of the january 6 committee. a top aide to the former chief of staff mark meadows testifying that white house officials knew there was a risk of violence on january 6. and they knew attendees at the rally had weapons. they recanted a tense moment between trump and a secret service agent. jobina: the testimony by 26-year-old cassidy hutchinson was explosive, to say the least. she recounted several moments from the day including when president trump ordered metal detectors be removed from the entrance to his stop the steal rally. hutchinson said trump was angry the area was not full and wanted more people to come in, even though some are armed. he reportedly said quote they are not here to hurt me.

another aide told hutchinson as trump was leaving the rally, he demanded to go to the capital -- capitol. when the secret service refused, trump reportedly longed for the steering wheel and assaulted the agent. -- lunged. >> mr engel grabbed his arm and said sir, you need to take your hand off the steering wheel. we are going back to the west, we are not going to the capitol. mr. trump then used his free hand to lunge toward him. jobina: the secret services they would like to respond to the claim under oath. a source tells abc new to expect agents to refute the allegation. former president trump responded with a flurry of posts on his social media app, claiming he hardly knew hutchinson and called her a phony. reggie: california's top prosecutors's hate crimes are rising across the state to levels we have not seen in decades.

it comes as one bay area community is reeling from a recent incident at a school. someone stole a pride flight from sunset ridge elementary in pacifica. a few days later, it reappeared tattered and burned. police say it is investigating this is a hate crime. people who live there are showing public solidarity for the lgbtq community. >> we are going to continue to bond in unity to let those know that try to do this that we do not accept that here. reggie: with hate crimes on the rise, including a tax on all minority groups, local leaders have solidarity events like this one in pacifica are more important. kumasi: in san francisco, there is a growing memorial for the victims of a shooting during norway's pride celebration. two people were killed at a gay bar in oslo over the weekend. several others were hurt. this led to the city canceling the parade. the shooting is being investigated as terrorism. numbers of the norwegian

precedent, so you want to make sure what you do is within the confines of the law. we are not interested in going rogue. reggie: the administration says it is working closely with the justice department to prevent states from placing a ban on abortion medication. the city of san francisco has taken a step toward investing $400,000 to help people have access to abortion in california. a board of supervisors committee approved a tentative budget agreement yesterday including 200 $50,000 for community-based organizations to help people access abortion including travel, transportation, lost wages and food. kumasi: the number of firefighters battling a 510 acre wildfire is expected to double this morning. cal fire says they expect to have 700 firefighters. it started yesterday in the tiny community of bridgeport. officials are concerned the

flames have been burning toward the yuba river drainage and if it gets to the drainage, it could cross into communities in yuba county. >> it took off very fast, it is rapidly moving. it is in a very remote area with difficult access. kumasi: evacuations were issued for more than 350 homes in parts of nevada county. at least one structure was lost. 500 buildings are threatened along the south yuba state park. fourth of july is days away. for so many people, that means fireworks. supply chain issues may mean fewer professional fireworks shows. in the bay area, there are strict rules to navigate. ryan curry is joining us live with more on that and what it means for celebrations. ryan: good morning. this means there is a stronger push for people to attend professionally sanctioned fireworks shows by a city or municipality or county. this is due to the fact there might not be that many professional fireworks displays to begin with, given the fact

the supply chain issue is hurting the industry. according to the american pyrotechnic association, supply chain backlogs are making it difficult to get products to the u.s. around 75% of professional fireworks are made in china and imported here. the backyard not legal fireworks shows are doing just fine. but those can often be dangerous, as i mentioned and in many places, illegal. according to san jose, there were 90 related fireworks related fires over the last two fourth of july's. the issue seems to be very pandemic related. >> i think the biggest challenges are for the professional display companies that put on independence day celebrations free municipalities and cities. -- 40 municipalities -- for municipalities and cities. ryan: the fireworks are

california reported more than 10 million covid cases since the pandemic started. the bay area is at one point 5 million cases, those numbers do not include at-home test results that are not been reported. more options are coming starting july 9, they are bringing back some routes suspended during the pandemic. that includes the 21 hayes, 23 monterey and more. trip patterns have changed since the pandemic started. people are traveling more neighborhood to neighborhood instead of up each time downtown centric pattern. kumasi: there are more options for bart riders who need to use the bathroom. yesterday, they reopened bathrooms at the monterey street and montgomery street stations. they will have attendance present during all hours the stations are open. bart closed most restrooms after the 2001 terror attacks.

kumasi: san francisco supervisor once the city to develop an overdose prevention plan. the calls follow the mayor's decision to close the tenderloin center. the chronicle is reporting they want to keep programs running or find a suitable replacement. city officials decided not to add additional funding for the center in the new budget, so it will shut down in december. the site was meant to link people with drug treatment programs, the city has been criticized for allowing drug use on site area -- site. reggie: recently, thieves and oakland have been targeting people heading to and from the airport. a woman since she recently stopped at the starbucks on 90 8th avenue in oakland if your sister and niece before dropping them off at oakland international. she says a man who looked like he was going to try to wash their windows ran up to the car.

setting off fireworks in their homes. they want people to go toward professionally sanctioned firework events. the problem is the supply chain is causing an issue to even find them, because they are not many. according to the american pyrotechnic association, they have had issues getting into the u.s. many are manufactured in china then shipped here. the sale of backyard fireworks have been booming since the pandemic. this is a concern because of the fires, we have seen quite a few and do not know how many more we will be seeing. san jose fires is 90 fires over the last two fourth of july's were related to backyard firework displays. residents in the bay area are holding out hope this year will be better. >> i've hoped it was because people cannot afford it, because of the supply chain. i just continue to hope. [laughter] maybe they have an arsenal, they are going to do it all on the fourth. i do not know.

held a vigil for the victims of the horrible incident. authorities say it is the deadliest human smuggling case in u.s. history. 51 people are confirmed dead. officials say at least 62 migrants were packed into the back of a tractor-trailer abandoned monday in the heat in texas. temperatures were over 100 degrees when people arrived to help. most of the adults and children inside were already dead. >> i came here when i was 14 years old and 18 wheeler. i passed out from the heat. i was lucky i woke up. jobina: record numbers of migrants are arriving at the border and smugglers are putting more people into increasingly hazardous vehicles. at least three people have been taken into custody, including the truck driver. the registration was traced back to a home in san antonio and two men from mexico were detained on weapons charges. reggie: a fourth person died

after monday's amtrak train to rome in missouri. the train jumped the tracks after crashing into a dump truck. the driver of the truck was among those killed. more than 150 people were hurt. dozens are still the hospital. the crash happened at a passive crossing, one without warning lights, bells or drop gates. it would cost about $400,000 to transform the crossing into an active crossing. there are more than 130 thousand passive crossings in the country. kumasi: the san francisco da has not ruled out running again for the job, either in the special election for the fall or next year's scheduled race. our media partners are reporting the board of supervisors certify the election results yesterday, he will be leaving office in nine days. reggie: a deal is in place on a

historic affordable housing package. the supervisor tweeted the deal includes $40 million for land acquisition, 20 million dollars for repairs on existing public housing and another $12 million for housing for teachers. the deal delivers on the promise of proposition i. adil has been reached between the city of palo alto and property owners of the former electronic site after years of debate and threats of lawsuits. the chronicle reports and includes plans for affordable housing and a new three acre park. 74 townhomes will be sold at market rate. the property owner would contribute $4 million to the affordable housing fund for redeveloping the neighborhood. officials say the city council is scheduled to discuss it in august. the white house is focusing on vaccines to try and stop the outbreak of monkeypox. officials say anyone exposed to a confirmed case should be

vaccinated. the cdc recommends vaccinations happen within two weeks of a possible exposure. there are two vaccines available, the administration is looking to dramatically increase the supply through the summer. testing is also being ramped up, with more labs available to process. officials are downplaying concerns monkeypox could turn to the next covid virus. >> unlike covid, monkeypox is a virus that has been around forever. we have known about it for 60 some odd years. we have spent years studying and treating monkeypox. we have had outbreaks in the u.s. in 2003 and 2019, which we handled effectively. reggie: the cdc says there are more than 300 confirmed cases in the country. kumasi: california's database that contains information on concealed carry weapon permits has been breached. data includes names, addresses and license type.

the doj pulled down the website once it learned about the breach, it is not clear how long the information was exposed. those who were effective will be notified. in los angeles county, the board of supervisors voted unanimously to return a manhattan beach property to rightful owners. ownership shifts from the county to the great grandsons of charles bruce. it was a resort that catered to black people in the early 20th century. it was taken from the family using eminent domain in 1924 because white residents, including members of the kkk, resented it success. tesla reportedly laid off nearly 200 workers and closed san mateo office. limburg reported the employees -- a critical project to achieve self-driving capability. other workers in the office were transferred to another facility in recent weeks. earlier this month, elon musk said tesla would be laying off 10% of the workforce because he
