from a failed fire sprinkler system shutting the building down forcing more than 600 residents from their homes to my knowledge those of us that are on the lower floors i have be on floor. with july last we reported management was hoping start moving people back in by july but residents say it's not happening. oh, are they paying for the hotels and they gave us food money back. i want to be home ladawn bullen is in a battle with cancer and says living out of a hotel is making it tough it's hard eating outside because i have to eat healthy. roughly 20,000 gallons of water cascaded from the 35th floor down through the building 95 of the 403 units have water damage some residents telling me they might not in untilr n. to speak with

person who shared this video with abc 7 news says the mischief happened friday afternoon. most of the car owners did not know about it until this morning surveillance video may have captured the suspect. well on the peninsula with the holiday weekend now upon us a female debate is emerging and re-emerging in the city of pacifica over whether or not to ban fireworks abc 7 news reporter. tim. johns tells us why they've been at the center of controversy for decades in the community, but how some are now making a case to keep them legal? fireworks the quintessential fourth of july symbol are once again causing an explosive debate in the city of pacific. in november local voters will decide whether the town should continue to allow the sales of fireworks and their community or ban them for good. it's a question that's divided the city for years with opponents pointing to the environmental damage they can cause and those in favor saying

the local nonprofits that sell them in booths around town rely on them for revenue. it'd be detrimental. i mean it would we would lose but you know, it's about half our budget or half our income from this at least all the booths combined will make anywhere from 180 to 200,000 over the holiday weekend money. that's then put back into the community in more ways than one and also the tax from the fireworks pays for the overtime for our law en. customer shannon sims says she sees both sides of the ar prophets to get their money, but also worries about the increased risk of wildfires. that's a tough one actually because i know it's a big fundraiser for our community, but with wildfires being what they've been. over the especially over the last few years, but some fireworks proponents say they think the wildfire fears are overblown in a town like pacifica. these are safe and sane fireworks. these are not the fireworks that you buy illegal that go up in the these you know barely don't even go above six feet, but this

fireworks oakland is preparing for large crowds at lake merritt for the fourth of july temporary street closures will be in place tomorrow and monday you can see those areas in red that includes parks of lakeshore and grand avenues oakland fire officials are promising roving patrols to prevent people from setting off fireworks, which are illegal in the city. road closures will also be in place on grizzly peak on the fourth. the road will be closed to traffic between skyline boulevard and centennial drive in an attempt to reduce fire risk where crowds tend to gather at those popular lookout spots been a bit on the cool side. so far this week all the talk those spencer about fireworks will we be able to see them and that's still up in the air? no pun intended here because some guys so much low cloudiness around it so much fog. let's take a look at what we expect to happen though. this will be the picture tomorrow morning. so the day will start tomorrow with another dreary kind of outlook, but it's to get to monday evening.

spencer christian here now with a look at the weather. okay, jr. you know fourth of july weekend people are concerned about sky conditions for the fireworks and monday. here's a look at the overnight conditions. we'll see lots of low clouds and fog and some spotty drizzle low temperatures mainly in the mid 50s tomorrow by afternoon. the fog will have burned back to the coastline giving us some mainly sunny day highs will range from about 60 at the coast to mid 60s around the bay too. 70s inland so let's move ahead to monday evening. we expect a sunnier and slightly milder day on monday than tomorrow, which means the clouds the local classified maybe a little bit later moving on shore if that's the case. we'll have great viewing conditions here at san francisco, and we do expect really good viewer conditions everywhere else for sure. they only place in question right now in terms of sky conditions is san francisco. here's the accuweather 74 forecast. we're going to have a nice little mild midweek weather span next tuesday, wednesday and thursday. by friday and saturday it warms up again to more summer like levels with high temperatures inland back in the 90s and low 80s.

wnba all-star game that we chicago next sunday right here on abc 7. it's unesco's third season the wnba. she's 10th and league in scoring and became the first wnba player to have a triple-double in three quarters earlier this month the oakland athletics are one step closer to building their waterfront ballpark at howard terminal winning a key approval from the san francisco bay conservation and development commission this week abc 7's kc pratt. he's been on this from the start and caught up with ace president dave cavill soon after the vote. it was a massive win overwhelmingly positive more than we thought and it's a critical approval that we got today for the project. now we know that this is just a step. i think it was joya who described it as getting to second base in this process. third base is what i'm a little bit more worried about that would be getting the oakland city council to vote on a development agreement a community benefits agreement. how likely is that to come before the end of the year well, it really needs to happen by the

end of the year mayor schaff is leaving office. she's turning out. she's been the biggest proponent of this project and without her leadership. i just don't see it getting across the finish line. so we really have the next six months to get the approval and we really urge the city council and everyone involved on the city side to schedule the vote as soon as possible. is this more a matter of time or are there still big gaps? what's a little bit of both, you know, but the ball is in the city's court both in terms of scheduling the boat and responding to our proposal. we're trying to do everything that we can to advance this forward. we're really running out of time in oakland. we really only have the next six months. i think to figure this out. there's a small window of opportunity and we want to see if we can pull it off. it'd be incredible project on the waterfront ensure that the a's are here many generations to come and it would really be a transformative project for oakland and the entire bay area the water. on it's really just an incredible vision now, i like and today to a bit of a playoff series you lose it's done. you win you get to move on but
