livermore, you are cloudy. you have to go toward fairfield and tracy. that cloud deck will make its way westward, how about this 48 degree view here from mount tam with the wind and that missed flowing by. 56 in the city, 60 in san jose. the wind not much of a factor yet with mid 50's in petaluma and 59 in concord. a little milder in the north bay but the winds already 34 miles an hour. san francisco, you can see the color by the delta. the sun is on the way. it will take a little while but we will be cool, breezy with temperatures five to 15 degrees below average. we will get into a few more 80 degrees temperatures for the fourth of july and beyond. that forecast coming up. liz: now to our top story -- travel chaos for the long holiday weekend. the tsa says almost 2.5 million people past drew airport security on friday.

combined that with thousands of flight delays and hundreds of cancellations and you have a lot of aggravated travelers. as we look right now at sfo, just this morning, the airports canceled or delayed over 40 flights so far according to flightaware.com. mole lanky has more as millions are trying to be on the move. >> a record number of americans braving the holiday crowds flying this weekend. this amid flight delays, cancellations and staffing shortages at airports. >> we were supposed to be on her way to mexico for a graduation trip but it got canceled. >> airlines canceling nearly 700 flights and delaying 5600 on saturday. more travel troubles -- house and's of american airlines pilots may be dropping as many as 12,000 scheduled flights through the end of july due to an overnight computer glitch. american airlines says the vast majority of trips have been restored and this will not impact their holiday operations. transfer terry -- transportation

them illegal. >> fireworks -- the quintessential fourth of july symbol are once again causing an explosive debate in the city of pacifica. in november, local voters will decide whether they should allow the continued sale of fireworks or ban them for good. it is a question that has divided the city for years with opponents pointing to the environmental damage and those in favor saying the local nonprofits that seldom rely on them for revenue. >> it would be detrimental. it's about half our income from this. >> all of the boost -- all of the booths will make between $180,000 and $200,000 -- money r law enforcement.nto the the om >> she sees both sides of the argument and once the local nonprofits to get their money but also worries about the increased risk of wildfires.

9:30. fireworks are best viewed from the hyde street harbor and fisherman's wharf. other public areas include pier 39 and peer 43 walkway. muni will provide extra service and after the show, there will be three express shuttles to the ferry building. part wilra event trains for the fireworks. there are a lot of events happening around the bay area. we got all the information, including a list of fireworks shows on abc7news.com. frustrations mounting for hundreds of residents of an apartment high-rise in san francisco. today marks one month since hundreds of people were forced out of the building due to flooding. tara campbell reports it doesn't look like anyone's going home anytime soon. >> this was the scene one month ago almost to the day -- residents captured video as the water poured in.

and cosmetic surgery clinics from a user's location history. firefighters are making progress against a wildfire burning in the sierra foothills near grass valley. it's the largest active fire in the state right now. saturday with lower temperatures and higher he midi. it started tuesday as a structure fire but quickly spread to nearby vegetation and is now -- has now scorched 105 acres. firefighters are monitoring the winds, trying to prevent the fire from spreading to yuba county. the fire risk has some states reimagining their fourth of july celebrations. they are using drones instead of explosions -- explosives. fireworks were opted to forego it instead used a dazzling display of drones. you can see this drone display. they say the shift is keeping

ancient cultural practices and using technology to help the environment. it featured 300 drones synchronized to music. tahoe is planning something similar but it was postponed due to the weather. speaking of the weather, let's get a check of the forecast. not that warm fourth of july you hope for but i guess we are used to that in san francisco. lisa: the relative humidity has even increased in san francisco or the average high should be in the 90's. in the delta, they will be lucky to make it into the upper 70's. mount tam, where we have had mist and drizzle and only 47 degrees. off the coast, this system continues to influence our weather with below average temperatures and right through the holiday tomorrow. as we get a closer look of our visible picture, we are socked in north to south.

donated to veterans in the sacrament of area. in the east bay, the city of richmond is taking off fourth of july with its show tonight at 9:15. it's free to attend and official say they are excited to welcome back the fireworks show after a two-year pause during the pandemic. oakland is preparing for large crowds at lake marek for the fourth of july. temporary street closures will be in play today and tomorrow. you can see where that is happening on the map in red. oakland fire officials are promising roving patrols to prevent people from setting off fireworks which are illegal in the city. road closures will be in place on grizzly peak on the fourth. the road will be closed to vehicle traffic between skyline boulevard and centennial drive. this is in an attempt to reduce fire risk where crowds tend to gather at popular spots. and in event organizers say was america's first hong kong

lisa: good morning. we have a lot of cloud cover out there and as we take you to mount tam, that's where the moisture is. 48 degrees with mild humidity. a little light rain blowing around there. 56 in the city, 60 in san jose but you can see the clouds are looking like we are getting a little son coming through there. in santa cruz, 56, by the delta, a couple of more hours on the sun. the wind is kicking up from the city toward east bay. on other cool and breezy day. mostly sunny before the high clouds begin to filter and throughout the afternoon. once again, numbers will be well below average. mild inland, cool at the coast, blustery in spots on the fourth of july had some subtle changes. we will talk about how long the trend for warmer weather continues.

liz: now to the terrifying tragedy at a michigan airshow. you can see that huge ball of flame a reps during a stunt. >> this morning, police have identified the man who died after a large explosion during the pyrotechnic portion of a michigan airshow. authorities say 40-year-old chris darnell was driving this truck racing to low-flying planes at the battle creek field of flight airshow. it's one of the largest airshows in the country, known for its high-speed speed and death-defying stunts. the show's website advertising the shockwave as the world's only triple jet engine truck. he was traveling at speeds over 300 miles an hour down the runway before witnesses say parts of his truck, which was carrying an aircraft, began flying off. >> he didn't understand what happened when he first watched it but once you realize, it you

knew it wasn't going to be good. >> elizabeth matthews was there and was caught off guard. >> he spun in circles and rolled and then where he landed, it caught fire. >> a massive fireball appears to cause the truck itself to catch fire and roll over several times. it's unclear if the first explosion was land. the crowd was stunned. onlookers gasping as an announcement made it clear that something went wrong in emergency teams raced to the scene of the crash. the driver's father posting a statement on facebook saying we are so sad -- just one month ago, he turned 40. he was so well loved by everyone who knew him. he so loved the airshow business and was living the dream, as he said. liz: in the south bay, san jose police are investigating three stabbings that happen saturday morning. the first happened near santa clara and 3rd street. a suspect in that case has been

arrested. a short time later, to suspect stabbed to men near santa clara and market street. there have been no arrests in that case. all three victims are in the hospital and are expected to survive. investigators don't believe the attacks are related but say both started as fights at bars and nightclubs as they were closing. in san jose, a man police say was on supervised release for burglary and narcotics has been arrested again, this time for leading officers on a chase. it started just after 3 a.m. when police tried to pull over a vehicle. the driver took off and a short time later ran a red light, lost control of his car in a pole. the driver was treated at a nearby hospital and taken to jail. the aldie school police chief has resigned from the city -- that you've aldie school police chief has -- the uvalde police chief has resigned from the city. >> the embattled police chief,

pete arredondo, has resigned from his city council post. city officials confirmed to abc news. he was elected to the council additional may 7, spore and into the role on may 31, one week after the mass shooting at robb elementary school in which 19 children and two teachers were killed. he maintained he was not the incident commander that day. community members as well as the texas department of black safety director criticize law enforcement response after officers waited over an hour to enter the classroom where the gunman was hold up. >> the officers had weapons, the children had none. >> families demanding answers and accountability. >> everybody that is accountable for this massacre, be accountable. show your face, answer our questions now. now, now, now. >> but the mayor says his hands are tied and the city has been ordered by county and state
