i'm jr stone. the first 4th of july fireworks show this year here in the bay area is set for tonight. richmond's long tradition of fireworks on july 3rd returns in just a few hours after a two-year pandemic hiatus. abc7 news reporter cornell bernard explains how there's a big push this year to get people to watch sanctioned show and stay away from illegal fireworks. >> five people for 11:30 a.m. reporter: taking lunch and dinner reservations at the richmond marina. >> this is a panoramic view here from the bar here. reporter: customers will have a front-row seat for richmond's annual july 3rd fireworks show. it will be a full house. >> it's a big deal, yes. especially because i think we haven't had it in two years. so people are kind of excited, the regulars are. >> it's a great opportunity to get out again and just kind of enjoy the fireworks out here on

the water. reporter: the big show is back after a long pandemic pause. >> it's very exciting. i think people were excited to get back out and see the fireworks again. this has been a huge richmond tradition. reporter: the mayor hopes people will leave fireworks to the pros. >> this year, i'll have seen less illegal fireworks than i can remember. reporter: fireworks may not agree. officials say three fires in antioch and one in pittsburg were started overnight by illegal fireworks. no injuries or structures damaged, but in the past two years, crews have put out dozens of grass and structure fires sparked by fireworks. the message this holiday. >> our vegetation is very dry and although we're experiencing cooler weather, it is still very dangerous and illegal to set off fireworks in the county. reporter: his department needs staffing crews for the holiday to be ready. mario brown and his grandson hope the weekend is festive and

safe. >> you don't want a firework to start a major catastrophe for people losing their home. reporter: abc7 news. >> hopefully, everyone can be safe this year. san francisco's fireworks are set for tomorrow night, starting at 9:30. it's just one of many events happening around the bay area to celebrate the holiday. we've got all the information, including the list of fireworks shows on www.abc7news.com. in the north bay, take a look. these are world war ii explosives found inside a house in petaluma. someone called police to report three japanese grenades, an artillery shell and approximately six additional munitions, all found inside the home of a deceased relative. the bomb squad detquad determine grenades and shell were live and considered highly explosive. a specialized explosives expert from travis air force base safely removed them. several police in

akron, ohio, are now on paid administrative leave following the shooting death of a black man. abc news reporter em nguyen reports graphic body cam video released today is raising questions and evoking outrage. reporter: protesters in akron, ohio, demanding answers for jaylen walker. >> we want justice. reporter: sunday afternoon, officials released graphic body cam footage showing the moment police shot and killed the 25-year-old black man, appearing to be unarmed when he was shot according to the police chief. >> the video you're about to watch is heart-breaking, and it's very tough to take in. reporter: walker was shot early monday morning after officers tried to pull him over for a traffic and equipment violation. >> wwe want to know why he was shot down like a dove, simple as that. why was that necessary? reporter: authorities say when walker didn't stop his vehicle, officers chased him for several minutes. they claim and body cam video appears to show a single gunshot was fired from inside the vehicle. when the car slowed, police say

walker then ran away into a parking lot, adding actions by the suspect caused officers to perceive he posed a deadly threat to them. the video shows multiple officers fire what appears to be dozens of rounds at walker as he fled on foot. >> at the time, he was shot more than 90 or 60 or whatever the unbelievable number will be, he was unarmed. reporter: police chief said the medical examiner's report indicates over 60 wounds to walker's body. he spoke directly to walker's family during sunday's press conference. >> you have asked for peace and an environment t -- in an environment that is ripe for aggression and reflection. if jaylen reflects the character of this family, you raised a good son and again, my deepest condolences. reporter: abc news, washington. >> to the south bay where san jose police say they issued

nearly 500 citations during a side show last night. officers say it happened around 11:00 p.m. when about 200 vehicles took over the intersection of south 10th street and alma avenue. police released a photo showing several police vehicles blocking roads surrounding the sideshow. they made seven arrests on various weapons and firearms charges and confiscated two guns, five cars including this one were towed and will be impounded for 30 days. san jose police department says, despite understaffing, several officers stayed well past their shifts to help break up the sideshow. we first told you last night at 11:00 about someone smashing the windows of several vehicles in san francisco. tonight, a man faces charges. this happened along lake street friday afternoon. police today say they made an immediate arrest, thanks to information from witnesses as people say a man used a

michael'sstory first aired on ab of 2021. he was searching for a liver donor. a woman who barely knew michael signed up to be a donor and was a match. in total, 11 potential donors came forward. today, four of those 11 volunteers met for the first time to celebrate. in march, michael and amy lisa underwent surgery for a liver transplant. >> it renews faith in mankind, or humanity. if she hadn't qualified, who knows where i would be? we wouldn't have any more donors in the works. >> michael and amy lisa's surgery was successful and they are doing well after recovery. >> i got to give a man a second chance at life. who else can say that? i wouldn't change that for the world. if i was able to do it again, i would. >> the two were here acquaint acquaintances before the surgery. joined by spencer christian. i've had a chance to meet a number of those donors out there and they are true heroes.

>> they really are. life-giving heroes, such a great story. let's take a look at what's going on with our pre-4th of july weather. it's breezy out there. windy in some spots. we have gusts near the coast now, over 30 miles per hour. it's been pretty windy throughout the day. nonetheless, even with the on-shore flow, it is a few degrees warmer right now than most locations than at this time yesterday so let's take a live view, you can see a few clouds over the bay but skies are mainly blue at the moment. town san francisco, 61 degrees. oakland 63. we have upper 60's in mountain view, san jose and santa clara at 59, half moon bay. a lovely blue sky over the bay from the emeryville camera, but lots of low clouds in the distance there and we have temperatures in the mid- to upper 60's at santa rosa, concord and livermore the warmest spot fairfield at 71 degrees and as we look down onto the bay, check out our forecast headlines. we'll see low clouds and patchy drizzle expanding overnight and into the early morning hours. patchy drizzle more likely in

the north bay than anywhere else, but it could also happen down along the coast line and across the bay to the east bay. sunny or milder tomorrow afternoon. 4th of july, and warmer pattern begins, much warmer near the end of the upcoming week. for tonight we can expect that expansion of low clouds and some high clouds and a weak storm moving onshore well to our north will produce a likelihood of some well heavy drizzle or light isolated showers over the north bay. well, into the morning hours, dissipating by midday and giving way to mainly sunny skies but notice the surge of low clouds and fog again tomorrow evening, just before most fireworks displays are scheduled to begin. overnight tonight, look for low temperatures, generally in the mid- to upper 50's, highs tomorrow, low 60's at the coast, low to mid-70s around the bay shoreline so a little bit milder than today and we'll see upper 70's to about 80, 82 degrees inland tomorrow. fireworks forecast for tomorrow evening around 9:00 in the evening, we expect low clouds and fog to be expanding along the coast and moving onshore, but across the bay and inland it
