result of the parade shooting. we are learning the names and ages of the six of the seven people who died. they include jacqueline son heim, nicholas toledo, 88-year-old stephen strauss, 64-year-old catherine goldstein, and husband and wife, 35-year-old irna mccartney and kevin mccarthy. their two-year-old son was with them at the parade and survived. please also released new details of the suspect's actions the day of the shooting and leading up to it. surveillance video shows the suspect wearing women's clothing, which he used to disguise himself and cover his face tattoos. it may have helped him blend into the crowd and escape after firing more than 70 rounds from a rooftop. police revealed the suspect planned the attack for weeks. he bought five firearms legally in illinois over the last two years. we also learned of 2 prior encounters with police.

both in 2019. the first was a mental health call, the second from a concerned family member. >> the second occurred in september of 2019. a family member reported he said he was going to kill everyone and he had a collection of knives. the police responded to his residence, removed 16 knives, a dagger, and a sword. at that time, there was no probable cause to arrest, no complaints that were signed by any victims. >> this afternoon, his parents released a statement saying in part "we are all mothers and fathers, sisters and brothers, and this is a terrible tragedy for many families, the victims, parade goers, community, and our own. our hearts, thoughts, and prayers go to everyone." his father ran for mayor of highland park in 2019 and his family has since hired an attorney. >> the family having deep roots

turn in oakland. five fans attending last night's a's game were hit by bullet fragments. the injuries happened during the post game fireworks show. oaklands police chief gave an update. he said it is highly likely the gunshots were a result of celebratory gunfire outside of the ballpark. >> this is why we caution people to not fire guns indiscriminately because it could impact unsuspecting people, people who are attending a normal event, and all of a sudden, several fragments come down on them. >> none of the injuries are considered to be life-threatening. a reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest. >> a three-year-old boy critically injured in a separate shooting in oakland. officers found him on 20 6th avenue at about 8:30 p.m..

in his update, the police chief said officers likely saved the boy's life by taking him to the hospital instead of waiting for other emergency personnel to arrive. investigators are looking into whether or not a relative might have been involved in the shooting. >> oakland was not the only city who saw violence in gun related injuries. in the north bay, police are investigating the first homicide in three years. they say after the fireworks show, a man was found shot to death a few blocks away in what appears to be a targeted attack. a woman is recovering in windsor after being shot in the arm by celebratory gunfire while watching a fireworks show at a city park on sunday. a 14-year-old girl was shot while watching fireworks in the bayview. >> a dozen san francisco police officers were hurt try to disperse the crowd last night. the group was gathered at 24th and harrison. video shows a fire burning and fireworks being set off.

fireworks and glass bottles were thrown at officers, injuring 12. they were eventually able to put out the fire and break up the crowd. >> firefighters responded to more than 70 fires since friday night. 55 last night alone. some are confirmed to be caused by fireworks, the vast majority expected to be fireworks related. one of the fires was a grass fire in bay point burning 6.5 acres. a witness said somebody was setting off fireworks from a car and the fire started. fireworks also started at a house fire in pittsburgh. >> upon arrival, we had flames in the house that originated on the exterior of the home. we believe they were set by fireworks. >> it was all around going off, so it wasn't necessarily my neighbors. but we heard them all around. >> flames made it onto the roof.

the family who lives there was able to evacuate safely, but they are homeless. >> bay area are being deployed to the foothills to fight a wild fire southeast of sacramento. it tripled in size overnight and has burned morewith no containm. strike teams from alameda county, hayward, and fremont are making the trip to the front lines. one crew member has been hurt. mandatory evacuation orders have been expanded. calfire says at least 450 structures are threatened. one homeowner had a few minutes warning thanks to a phone call from a friend. >> has come to my house, said it wiped out my neighbors house. >> the fire may have been sparked by fireworks or a barbecue. around 13,000 pg&e customers are without -- as a result of the

armstrong is back in the u.s. facing murder charges in the shooting death of a professional cyclist, mariah wilson. officials say she was hiding out in a remote beach town in costa rica for more than a month and trying to disguise her identity. >> she also changed her physical appearance a little bit to where she shortened her hair like the little bit about shoulder length, dyed it dark brown, she had some type of bandage on her nose. >> are you saying she had a nose job? >> i don't know if it was a nose job. >> police accused armstrong of shooting wilson to death at this home in austin, texas on may 11 after learning her boyfriend had gone swimming and to dinner with wilson. according to court documents, armstrong's boyfriend told police he was briefly in a relationship with 25-year-old wilson last year, saying after that their relationship was platonic. authorities questioned armstrong and let her go. two days later, she vanished. she flew to costa rica with a passport that was not her own.

breaking news as we come on the air in the west. the suspect now charged with seven counts of murder for the deadly july 4th parade shooting in illinois. the death toll is growing as we learn chilling new details about his alleged plot. just moments ago, authorities revealed a seventh victim has now died, with more than 30 injured. gunman pre-planned the attack the sheriff says the suspected gunman pre-planned the attack for several weeks. the gunman armed with a high-powered rifle firing more than 70 rounds into the crowd from the top of a building. today, authorities released surveillance images appearing to show him wearing a wig and women's clothing to make his escape by blending in with the crowd. the sheriff describes how they tracked him down, arresting him in his mother's car. late today, police revealed they had several encounters with this suspect, including an attempted suicide in 2019.
