as a mile away. they struck an 11-year-old in the shoulder and others in the arms and hands. officers found no-show casings in the coliseum or the parking lot. >> fourth of july, i know people like to shoot up in the air. in that case, the surprise is still horrible. reggie: police hope for information on who may have fired a rifle new the coliseum. reggie: the 2 -- kumasi: the july form -- fourth massacre in chicago was premeditated with the suspect even showed signs. >> the 21-year-old man suspected of carrying out a massacre in highland park, illinois has been charged with seven counts of first-degree murder. he is expected to make his first appearance in court today. witnesses and police say the man was perched on top of a roof above the parade when he fired over 70 rounds on families

below. vice president, harris visited the area and once again is calling for a ban on assault weapons. v.p. harris: we need to stop this violence, and we must protect our communities from the terror of gun violence. you know, i've said it before. enough is enough! jobina: police revealed that the suspect planned the attack for months. he was spotted in women's clothing after the shooting, likely to cover his tattoos. we learned of prior encounters with police, both in 2019, before he had foul paperwork to buy any guns. he cleared for background checks before he bought the high-powered rifle he used in the attack. the suspect faces life in prison without parole. reggie: thank you. we're learning more about the victims killed in this attack, and this is especially heartbreaking. they all are, but his will wreck you. kevin and rena mccarthy had

more on what officials are saying you need to know about this. liz? liz: the san francisco department of health and the city is reporting an uptick in monkeypox cases, especially following pride. the san francisco aids foundation is making a public plea for more vaccines. the c.e.o. of the foundation released a statement saying we need more vaccines for monkeypox, and we need them now. he said the clinic was only given 60 doses of the vaccine in june. they are getting more now, but still not nearly enough for everyone who could benefit from one. he said that if the city does not act swiftly and boldly, we will see more cases. the department of monkeypox vaccines are in short supply across the country, and getting an appointment to get one can be difficult. they said to reach out to a medical professional if you develop symptoms. >> we want to know people who have been directly in contact with somebody, in order to

vaccinate them. >> i think what we are going to see is a lot more cases in the next two weeks, but it will still not be a big risk to the general population at this moment. liz: there are currently more than 40 or about 40 monkeypox cases in san francisco, which has doubled in a week. a facebook message posted on sunday is warning people about a possible exposure at a pride weekend event organized by comfort and joy. they did receive a possible report that one attendee tested positive for the virus. that is the second pride event to post a warning like this. as for where you can get the vaccine, that is a challenge right now because there is a shortage area there are locations around the bay area offering it, including here in berkeley. we are outside this team works bathhouses. they were posting on instagram that they had some vaccines to administer. there are also locations in san francisco clinics like the struck community center in the castro, the clinic on 7th

street, and san francisco department of public health area but all of them are saying don't just drop him. because of this shortage, you need to call in advance to make an appointment, and to make sure they actually have the vaccine. reggie: it is a struggle. thank you. we want to get you updated on the latest covid-19 headlines. omicron subvariant ba five is now to blame for the majority of u.s. cases. it makes up 54% of infections. according to a new study, repeatedly catching covid increases chances a person will face new and ongoing health poems. that is based on the records of more than 5 million veterans administration patients. covid was the leading cause of death for people above 54 last year. it was the third in people younger. state officials have updated guidance that allows mask free classrooms to continue.

attendees you may have been exposed. liz is in berkeley this morning with the problem people are facing if they try to get protected. liz: it is certainly a problem right now. there is not enough monkeypox vaccine to go around, and as you mentioned, there is another warning going out from a party from pride weekend, saying there was a plausible report of un-attendee testing for monkeypox following attending that event. that would mean thousands of people are potentially at risk of exposure from that comfort and joy event. this comes as the city does see an uptick in cases. we know there are about 40 cases of monkeypox in san francisco alone. the department of public health says there is no need to panic, what it is important for people who have been exposed to monitor themselves. they say the virus can be spread by skin to kiss -- skin to skin contact, sexually, or by infected clothing. they want to warn that it is

. there are locations in san francisco folks can call to see if there is availability, or at least get more information. that is the stretch in the castro, the city clinic on 7th street, and the san francisco department of public health. you can also get more information at sf.gov/monkeypox. this is a situation where there is not enough supply to go around, so unless you know you have been directly exposed, it is unlikely you will be able to get a vaccine. that does not mean you should not try. do not do a drop in because of the shortage, but give them a call and see if you can get an appointment. reggie: juul e-cigarettes will not get pulled from store shelves just yet. the fda suspended the order to ban the devices. companies have to show that it can help adults quit smoking and
