>> the time for finger pointing and blaming other people is over. >> with thunderous applause and a hand raised high, brook jenkins was sworn in as san francisco new district attorney. in a speech at city hall jenkins vowed to crack down on san francisco most pressing problems. she highlighted property crimes, smash and grab robberies and petty thefts. >> san francisco is being impacted by these types of crimes. we can no longer look at them as insignificant. >> she plans on enforcing the city's drug laws and ending the open air markets on the streets. she cited her professional experiences to hold repeat offenders accountable. >> we have to deal with repeat offenders is a top priority of how we deal with those consistently committing the most

effect for the ohms by fire west of morgan hil. crews able to stop the forward progress of the flames more than an hour ago but people are being kept out of their homes. that fire had burned five acre, no word on a cause. >> a section of yosemite national park remains closed due to a wildfire that broke out near hundreds of giant is he coy yeah trees. the washburn fire is burning close to the area that features 500 of the giant trees. theire has burned about 250 acres and is zero percent contained. the cause is not yet known. the rest of the park remains open. and farther north, cal fire is making progress on the electric fire. containment is 5% and 4400 acres have burned while firefighters are starting to get the upper hand that fire is putting up a lot of smoke that adds an additional challenge to the rugged terrain. they are asking for help in

finding a cause. it all started on july 4th. >> the white house is responding to a call for more vaccines against monkey pox after cities like san francisco continue to sound the alarm. the violence is hitting gay and bisexual men disproportionately. not enough of the correct information is getting out to the public. an update on vaccines and testing. >> the vaccines are coming. san francisco health department reports san francisco received 580 doses and 2300 additional ones this week. the first cases of monkey pox in the u.s. were confirmed in may. critics now say the federal distribution should have arrived in mid june before the san francisco pride celebrations. >> in fact san francisco didn't receive its first allotment of 60 doses of vaccine until june 30th so after the pride weekend.

>> in the past week the cases of monkey pox in san francisco increased from 16 to 40. almost ises many as los angeles. the health department says 600 people in san francisco have been vaccinated. but state senator scott weiner today bashed the federal government for playing catch up. >> we need the federal government to move faster and aggressively to get more vaccine doses. >> in the meantime keeping it from spreading is what the health department and organizations like the aids foundation are struggling with. right now only a person who has been in close contact with someone with monkey pox is eligible for the vaccine. there are currently more people exposed than anticipated. >> i do know if you were to call any one of the clinics right now you are either going to get a voice mail saying that they have very limited supply and to continue to call back. >> the aids foundation today
