that whereley issued these licenses will legally have to as long as the applicant meets criteria like good moral character via resident of the county and completes a course of training. we've been bombarded for years for being very conservative about our ccw program. i think now our hands are a little bit tied since the supreme court ruling demand for these licenses is spiking an alameda county lieutenant ray kelly expects. the number of ccw's to double over the next few months from 300 to 600 and maintaining the influx won't be cheap. it's gonna cost the taxpayers in the county more money a couple three four deputies if we have to bring in that's gonna cause probably a million dollars a year to do that a similar trend is expected in san francisco county. i can say i haven't issued. the ccw since i've been the sheriff now for over two years, san francisco sheriff paul miyamoto says since 2002 only 28 people applied for ccw less than half were issued a license, but
11:39 pm
now we've received over 50 calls regarding applications. more applic ations more concealed weapons will be circulating our community but a new bill state legislature, aims to restrict where these concealed firearms may be carried and among other. things required at least 16 hours of training which is double the current requirement. so we're creating concrete criteria of basically making sure that a weapon only goes into somebody who's a lawful person who's not going to do harm and go to a school and shoot up a school at state senator anthony portentino authored the bill. it would prohibit weapons from places government buildings businesses selling alcohol amusement parks and sports venues, so we'll signed the governor's desk in august and i think he'll i mean i know he's been assign it the legislation requires a two-thirds vote and if passed wouldn't take effect until january in the meantime local counties sheriff's
