santa clara county public health officials say they have received 742 doses of the vaccine for the entire county. with such short supply to meet the increasing demand, the public health department says it is aligning with cdc strategy, prioritizing vaccination for those at highest risk first. santa clara county reported its first case back in late june. there are currently 11 known cases in the county. . as of thursday afternoon, it had already vaccinated 30 people who fit this criteria. the white house says it plans to release 1.5 million doses within the coming months. many public health officials say the u.s. will need closer to 4 million doses. local public health officials point out monkeypox will likely not become the next covid-19. they say it's not as contagious and that the vaccines and testing have been available for years. >> we don't have to go through

worth of collectible dolls are missing after they were stolen from an oakland home. the collectibles are known as blythe dolls. for the woman that lost them, this is a piece of history that cannot be explained. j.r.: if you are not familiar with these so-called blythe dolls, don't feel bad, they're not sold in many stores. take a good look at them, because all 12 of these were stolen from a home in oakland. >> they are very unique, they are about as tall as a barbie doll, but they have a large head with unique eyes that really have a lot of emotion and character. j.r.: the dolls belonged to kiersten seymour of oakland, who is a collector. and these dolls have quite the history, originally released in 1972 as a rival to barbie, but inspired by betty boop, with influences of those big eyes paintings created by late bay area artist margaret keane, ones that had swept the nation in the years prior. to seymour, though, this is her

passion, creating scenes for her 12 characters, showcasing that on social media and in schools. >> they are part of my life, my work and my art. and they actually brought a lot of joy and happiness to a lot of people and kids, especially during the times of covid. j.r.: in less than two hours during a family move, her dolls, her characters, her loves stolen. while the blythe dolls only lasted a year in the 1970's due to concerns over them being too scary for children, they made a comeback, according to expert and collector lauren. >> in 2001 and it became a much bigger deal in japan. they are all about the american culture. they love the big eyes and everything and they found appreciation for it. nowadays, depending on their condition, they can range anywhere from $500, less than that if you are lucky and you find one at goodwill. otherwise, they can go all the way up to $3000, $4000, $5000. they are worth a lot of money.

>> seymour says many of her dolls were custom made by artists in ukraine, poland and spain, to name a few. she is offering what she calls a large reward and remains optimistic that the thief will have a change of heart. >> the dolls have this whole life in these suitcases and now they've been stolen. it's like they've been kidnapped. and please, somebody, no questions asked, please return them. j.r.: j.r. stone, abc7news. >> san francisco police have arrested a man for organizing a massive retail theft fencing operation. investigators suspect he was making up to half a million a year from selling stolen goods. police say sergio manuel puga-tenorio would get the items from thieves, who would steal from store shelves and he would sell the goods online.

investigators say they found $200,000 in a room that he rented near san francisco's glen park. >> going inside and into the bedroom, this, these items here were way more organized than they are right now. he had it set up like it was a storage for the back of a drugstore. >> police were able to track down the suspect through some of the stores that were hit. reggie: a fast-moving wildfire just south of writing has forced people out of their homes. it's called the peter fire and it's burned 300 acres near the city of anderson. mandatory evacuations are underway and a shelter has been set up at west valley high school. at least 12 structures have already burned, containment at 25%. a steady air attack is helping crews make progress against the washburn fire and yosemite. containment there is 27%. the fire has burned nearly 4400 acres and has crossed into the

sierra national forest, prompting road closures there. the highway 41 entrance into yosemite is still closed and an evacuation order remains in place for residents of wawona. >> on air quality advisory has been extended in eastern contra costa county throughout these today because of this. the marsh fire has been smoldering in a pittsburg marsh for about six weeks. the fire has been sending up plumes of smoke. >> when i was driving to work on the weekend, it was so bad i had to turn the lights on. you need n95 and people that cannot be outside right now. >> contra costa fire officials say pete fires are virtually impossible to put out. they are now considering flooding the marsh. lisa: temperatures out in pittsburg today in the mid 80's. air quality in and around the area is good. it will be less than ideal on saturday as temperatures warm

and we get into a warming and drying trend in the upper elevations as high-pressure begins to build in. you can see the moisture from the monsoon over that area of high pressure. it is dry. low clouds and fog for us right along the coast around the airport. that marine layer is compressed. 55 in foster city, with temperatures in the north bay cooler, 52 san rafael, 58 in fremont. dark out there, the sun coming up in another 45 minutes. it is mostly clear. with that compressed marine layer, we get into sunshine sooner. it's a quicker warm up. we have that wide range of temperatures and the summerlike sizzle is on for one day tomorrow with highs in the mid to upper 80's. air quality in the eastern zone will be moderate. elsewhere, we still have that onshore flow. by sunday, we are looking at much colder numbers with a steadier onshore flow. that marine layer expands and we will get temperatures back to

prison. he was arrested in 2017 after dna evidence linked the mentor the devices. both devices detonated, injuring two people who were not the intended victims. his attorneys asked a judge for the minimum 30 year sentence, saying he suffers from severe mental illness. reggie: oakland police are looking for more possible victims of a woman charged with molesting teenage boys. the 34-year-old has already been charged with 21 felonies. investigators say she committed sex crimes against multiple teenagers at the beginning of the year. she met them there family and friends. oakland police hope the any other victims will come forward now. >> president biden is making his controversial trip to saudi arabia. he is looking to reset the u.s. relationship with that key security ally and boost the supply of oil. this visit is drawing a lot of criticism. >> president biden wraps up the

israeli leg of his mideast tour, all eyes now turn to saudi arabia and what he will say to officials today about the 2018 murder of washington post journalist jamaal khashoggi, which the cia concluded was ordered by mohammad bin salman. pres. biden: my views have been absolutely, positively clear. and i have never been quiet about talking about human rights. >> on the campaign trail, biden condemned the killing. pres. biden: make them pay the price and make them the pariah that they are. >> the administration announcing the trip's purpose is to stabilize the middle east, strengthen the u.s.-saudi alliance and discuss ways the kingdom can help the u.s. outcompete adversaries like russia and china.

dr. fauci: the thing about ba-5 that is disconcerting is that it is able to escape some of the immune protection that you get from prior infection, as well as vaccination. >> the cdc is now urging people to reconsider masking indoors or based on individual risk. vaccines are still recommended as good defense. the cdc could authorize a new covid vaccine from novavax as soon as next week. the company claims preclinical data shows its vaccine reduces an immune response against all covid variants. reggie:reggie: a man has died in a fiery crash after his car collided into a tree then hit another car in antioch. this happened on james donelan boulevard near country loma in antioch. the driver and passenger were treated for minor injuries. look at this, though. just terrible. witnesses say both vehicles were speeding before the accident. >> this particular area comes down from a slope just east of
