from the fire now, let's turn to abc 7 news meteorologist. mike nico for a look at the air quality in that area right now mike. all right, kristen. yeah this morning. it was unhealthy once again because of the cap on the atmosphere the high pressure coming in and putting that lid and you can see right there that we had places like pittsburgh and antioch and brentwood that were unhealthy for not only those sensitive but also for all of us where you see the red there now as we lift the lid off the atmosphere every afternoon into the allows that smoke to six vertically into the atmosphere so it's not so concentrated at the lower levels and that we're going to see that repeat over and over through at least monday. now the other concern is just how much hotter it's going to get this weekend for those folks that don't have air conditioning and need to close their windows. we're pushing 96 to 98 degrees come tomorrow, and we still have the breezes out there that will continue to feed this fire with fresh air in humidity levels. that'll be very low most of the

in the san francisco district attorney's office today da brook jenkins announcing some promotions as well as some layoffs joining us now to break it down as abc 7 news insider film material phil jenkins named four new members of her management team. so what do you expect from them? what expect from them is to bring experience and also sort of a more moderate approach to prosecutions in san francisco just about dean was a very to reformer on the progressive end didn't believe in cash bail. he didn't necessarily believe in putting people in jail for non-violent crimes like shoplifting even repeated or drug dealing now, that's a change brooke. jenkins is going to be bringing in a harder line and to help her with that. she's also brought in some experience prosecutors not the least of which is ana gonzalez. she was a prosecutor under bodine's predecessor who bodine fired and she's back and she's going to be handling some of the heavy cases.
4:15 pm
nancy tung who is a assistant district attorney over in alameda county, but who ran for district attorney in the same race as chesapeodine is coming in also to help on spit head up special prosecutions. now what that says is experience it also it's kind of a smart political move for jenkins because nancy chung was possibly thinking of running for district attorney herself. so not only is she bringing in a prominent chinese woman. she's also probably taking somebody off the boards that could against her this all comes is she also removes some of bodine's top assistance not entirely unexpected. this happens a lot of the times when people come into the offices to equate it with sports if you come in as the new general manager of a team, there's bound to be some changes in the coaching staff. all right. well along those lines, what are we hearing about the people that are no longer with the da's office? is it safe to assume they were says camp oh, yes. yes. definitely what we're talking about is alicia hurtado rebecca
4:16 pm
young the spokesperson for the office. yes. they were in chessa's camp, you know district attorneys in assistant district attorneys in san francisco aren't in a union. they don't have civil service prediction they serve at the will and so a lot of women who chessa boudin brought in were actually former public defenders. they didn't even have prosecutorial experience and larry it's you know, your intentions could be good, but fact is you got to know how to make a case and drive a bus and you got to know how to how to be a prosecutor prosecutors put cases together public defenders pick them apart. so it's kind of like trying to if you bring them to somebody that expert at demolition to build your house. it doesn't necessarily all it's not necessarily going to work out. so i think we're going to see more of the construction people coming in to build this new da's office. so would you say this is a bigger shake-up than usual or anytime you get a new boss there. there's going to be changes. yeah. well, there's two of changes one is when you take over from somebody that you're friendly with. all right, in which case these transitions are usually very slow and you bring in your own
4:17 pm
team and your own appointees second one is when you take over from somebody that you are opposed or are in sync with and that's what happens. let's say when you have a new governor or a new president you bring in your own people. this is happening quickly. and i think the reason to that is brooke jenkins doesn't have a lot of time. she's having to hit the ground running and she wants to make sure that she has a line in front of her that's going to help her out whether you agree with her or not remains to be seen. yeah and with an election that she's right in in november and a tenderloin that she has to clean up and violent crime situation, especially against asian american elderly that she has ■o get a grip on as well. all right phil as always. thanks for your insight. have a good weekend. all right. san francisco's presidio tunnel top park will officially open this weekend. sunday's event was six years in the making the 118 million dollar project began with the construction of the presidio parkway, which opened in 2015. there are fourteen acres of park with thousands of native plants

4:20 pm
will slowly reestablish the clouds get a little bit thicker and maybe even some drizzle in the mornings. we had a little more cloud cover at the coast. so expect it to return a little bit faster during the evening hours. but again, it will be very thin temperatures 61 in san francisco a lot of 60s around the bay because of the breezy conditions 70s in the south bay 80s and 90s in the north bay and east bay away from the fastest winds as you can see gussing the 32 at sfo. it could be a bumpy ride in and out of sfo airport weather warning for those gusty winds through at least seven o'clock this evening temperatures as we look at the bay glistening with those choppy conditions starting around 60 to 80 at 7 o'clock down to 57 to 66. so you'll definitely need a jacket if you're going to be out past say nine o'clock going to the giants game. it'll be a little breezy 63 to start 7:15. so a little later tonight down to 58 by the end of the game now with those thin clouds there could be a little bit of fog and temperatures. comfortable low to even a few upper 50s possibly even 60 around san jose and the 63 in antioch and san jose will be 87
4:21 pm
tomorrow antioch 97. look at that 99 in fairfield some 90s up in the north bay. we'll have 70s and 80s around the bay that'll stretch into san francisco, but clouds will cling to the peninsula coast once again keeping you at about 61 degrees for aids walk sunday morning. we're looking at a little bit of fog and 80 today the clock about 57 degrees. we'll see increasing sunshine and breezy conditions by 2. about 64 degrees now if you're traveling around the state the san joaquin valley hundred and 109 tomorrow through monday, so please be careful if you're traveling through there if your car breaks down if you're going to visit someone make sure you have plenty of water. all right, so warmest tomorrow and then you can see we taper a little bit sunday monday back to average by tuesday wednesday and even thursday and friday possibly a little bit cooler than what we should be for this time of the year, but let's go back to that aids walk and sit over to for more about that. all right, mike indeed. we're just two days away from this year's aids walk san francisco. it takes place sunday, july 17th

give them money to help with their care at their hospital. i don't know if it's for profit or not for profit. but i think that's what's rubbing people the wrong way. i would like to know what is the percentage that's going towards the stadium upkeep and what is the percentage that is going towards the scholarships and helping the welfare of the students at fresno state. it's just not all lumped into the sports. and and you know enhancing the stadium it's also helping those kids and if you look at the kids that are usually on sports scholarships a lot of those wouldn't be going to college or they would not be able to afford to go to college. so in that respect it is helping some of those that are less fortunate. yeah, we should point out that 10 million over 10 years is pretty low in a naming rights deal. so we'll see how it all shakes out taking notes by hand could improve your kids grades a new poll found while typing is more popular than writing by hand students who write out their notes tend to have a higher. a the study also found 53% of parents say their child's grades have improved since 2020
4:42 pm
