dissipate. we will call it partly cloudy. temperatures hovering in the lower 60's, half moon bay and pacifica. bayshore numbers in the 70's. you can see the golden gate bridge socked in with fog. you may have to use your wipers. certainly some dense fog in spots. to e use your low beings. -- your low beams. as that fog continues to lower and deepen, it will clear out partly. we will have a typically cool day with a wide range of temperatures, 60's at the coast to mid and upper 90's. >> breaking news in mountain view, police say they are looking for a suspect wanted for shooting a police officer during a car stopped overnight. the officer is currently in the hospital. he was hit in the upper body. we are told he is expected to

make a full recovery. police say the shooting happened in downtown mountain view just after midnight. the officer was conducting a car stop at a villa in wild cherry when a person inside the car shot at the officer. they say the suspect drove away from the scene before crashing at hinton and villa. mountain view police say a perimeter search for the suspect is underway around the downtown area. developing news, all clear at sfo after a bomb threat forces passengers to evacuate the terminal. international terminal is back open. san francisco police say they have cleared several areas of concern. officers have safely removed multiple suspicious packages. no word on what those packages were. this started around age: 15 last night. thousands of people had to evacuate. many posted about it on social media.

police have made no arrests. they are talking to a man in connection with what happened. >> officers made contact with an adult male they detained and discovered that there were suspicious packages that could possibly be an incendiary device. it has not been determined at this point whether those items are incendiary devices that could be set off. at this time, the adult male that we detained is still speaking with us and still part of our investigation. >> if you are flying out of sfo this morning, the airport is urging passengers to check with their airline for flight information and allow extra time. when the sfo evacuation first broke last night, we sent this notification on our abc 7 news bay area app.

turning now to monkeypox. your health is a key focus of building a better bay area. more local counties are saying they need more vaccine. oaklands vice mayor penned an open letter to health officials. marin's top doctors are requesting more doses. in the south bay, there is a vaccine distribution strategy that demands doses be given to those at highest risk first. there is potential for relief across the region as amanda del castillo you explains. >> it seems like we cannot catch a break. >> from covid-19 to mckee pops, southbay assembly member evan low pointing to the concerns. he has pushed for the urgent demand for the monkeypox vaccine. >> the numbers are relatively small given our population, but we know this can grow rapidly.

the san francisco aids foundation had 3500 people on the waiting list last week. that number has grown its financial he. some people are concerned that upcoming street fairs will spark an outbreak. >> we should have learned from the previous epidemic we had in being more proactive about taking action. >> the federal government ordered an additional 2.5 million doses of the vaccine yesterday. those doses are not scheduled to arrive until next year. in berkeley, the management of a club that held a vaccine clinic is explaining they are planning changes for next time. some people waiting in line at steam works wednesday complained after paying members of the club were allowed inside first. the general manager explained many of them were wearing robes and bath towels and had to receive the vaccine inside. he said it was a misunderstanding and told abc 7 news that from now on all

>> caltrans has announced it will homeless encampment that has been the site of numerous fires. it will be closed by the first week of august. crews are respected to start the process next week. a large fire at the camp this week put out enough smoke for officials to close part of the macarthur maze, raising concerns about safety. caltrans is correlated with oakland and alameda county to get the people living at the site access to she the family of alexis gabe is going to look for her this morning. this search is planned in oblique near where her iphone protector was found. she was last seen leaving the antioch home of her boyfriend marshall jones. jones was killed by law enforcement in june when police moved in to arrest him, and he reportedly charged them with a

district. they are inviting the police chief and other local leaders trying to find solutions to violence and the growing homelessness crisis. the city of pacifica is investigating another possible hate crime. police say two portable classrooms were broken into at sunset ridge school this week. both were ransacked. an officer found a doll with a swastika on his forehead. another hate incident happened last month when someone stole a pride flag. it reappeared several days later tattered and burned. san jose's parks department is asking for help renaming columbus park. the 10 acre park located south of the airport was named for the famous italian explorer. columbus has been criticized for his treatment of indigenous people in recent years. the community was asked if they want to change the part name.

could we see mask mandates return in the bay area? we contacted all nine bay area counties to ask if indoor masking will be reinstated. they said no. health officials said even though hospitalizations are rising, it is not high enough to reinstate the mass mandate. uc berkeley infectious disease expert dr. john schwartzberg are said masking can help. >> if we don't want to get infected, we need to be wearing masks now. if people would do that at a higher level, mandates would be unnecessary. >> the latest cdc data shows every bay area county is at a high level of transmission. the crackdown continues on retail theft operations in san francisco. earlier this week, officials seized $200,000 in stolen goods

from one man's apartment. these operations are planned months in advance. how can you tell what you are buying online is not stolen? >> it was a bust that surprised many. a san francisco man was able to steal and resell $200,000 worth of stolen goods in his apartment. police say there are many operations like it across the bay area. >> this one a rest from wednesday could result in opening cases on several other open investigations and lead to more arrests. >> police sergeant adam says there has been a spike in these operations in the midmarket area. how do they work? they often start small and involve middlemen, the people who try to offload stolen items as fast as possible. >> they are selling hundreds of thousands of dollars of goods online. >> according to an analysis by

the senate judiciary committee, there is more than $5 billion of stolen and counterfeit items sold online. in some cases, it is the online retailers tipping off investigators. scott ryan says ebay contacted them about wednesday's suspect. >> there was no crazy undercover process to it. we followed up with what they saw. saw the same thing, and took steps to identify who he was. >> what is being done to crackdown? state senator nancy skinner introduced a bill tightening requirements for sellers. >> the marketplace has to get information like their business license, the receipt of goods, those kinds of things, to prove that they are the owners of these goods in a legitimate way, and they have not been stolen. >> investigators say these

organized crime rings operate on ebay, craigslist, and amazon. what should we look out for? >> you want to look for is it a seller who is brand-new? they have never sold anything before. especially if it is an expensive purse or watch or if it is brand-new bulk, a whole case of aspirin. where do they come up with this? if it does not pass the smell test. >> another tip from michael, if you buy an item that is stolen, you could be subject to legal prosecution. that is unlikely if you bought the stolen item unknowingly. legally, it is not yours. as for senator skinner's legislation, if it passes, it will help protect consumers and retailers. it is moving to the assembly. tuesday nights mega millions jackpot has increased to $530 million.
