below the 35,000 doses they have requested. >> preston is the first person to get the monkeypox vaccine at the special vaccination event put on by the san francisco aids foundation. >> we are doing 500 today. >> russell is with the san francisco aids foundation. he says as infection rates increase across the city, one way to get out of it is through vaccines which are in short supply across the country. those in line are here by appointment only. rick batista got vaccinated. he says this is more than just personal responsibility. >> i think it is important for our community to look out for ourselves and do whatever we can to make sure that monkeypox does not spread. >> san francisco has almost 50% of almost -- of monkeypox infections in the state.

city health officials requested 35 hundred new doses. >> the fact that it will take until the end of this year to get 1.5 million to 2 million doses out is frightening. >> monkeypox is affecting most people -- mostly men who have sex with men. people are afraid that the gay community will be blamed for the prices. >> we don't want people to be afraid of having sex. we fought a long time in the hiv and aids movement to not be stigmatized for the sex that we have so we don't want this outbreak to have us have to relitigate that conversation. >> vaccination is how we will control this outbreak. if we don't control it, it could be endemic. crisis got winners has san francisco and new york are the epicenters of the u.s. outbreak.

collision. new developments in the shooting of a mountain view police officer. the driver of an suv shot the officer and drove off during an early morning stop yesterday. the gunmen crashed less than aea mile away near hendon avenue and villa street. the department posted i thank you on the social media for the community support. a report released on the school shooting in you've aldie, texas says there were systemic failures in the police response. morgan norwood says the report by a special texas house committee into several agencies for failing to take action.
