a part of our effort to build a better bay area. health officials estimate that half of monkeypox infections in california are in san francisco. abc seven news reporter joins us in the newsroom with a look at an effort today to get more people vaccinated. reporter: good evening. san francisco aids foundation says their staffs he is wanted to cases of monkeypox every day in the castro. city health officials say another 4000 doses will be here this week, but they add that will still be well below the 35,000 doses they have requested. they are the first person to get the monkeypox vaccine as sunday's special vaccination event was put on by the san francisco aids foundation. >> over 3000 people on the waiting list and were doing 500 today. crease, one way to get ahead

they say education will be another key component to prevention. >> we also do not want people to be afraid of having sex. you know, we fought a long time in the aids movement to not be stigmatized for the sex that we have. so we do not want this outbreak to have us have to relitigate that conversation. >> vaccination is how we are going to control this outbreak. if we do not control it, it could become endemic. reporter: california state who represent san francisco says san francisco and new york are the epicenters of the u.s. outbreak. he says it is in the national interest to prioritize resources to cities like san francisco. >> because if san francisco spirals, it's not going to stay in san francisco. it's going to move elsewhere. same with new york city, so we need to go where the optics are the worst and get it under control. reporter: senator wiener spoke with house speaker nancy pelosi on saturday about monkeypox.

he says pelosi is advocating to federal health agencies to move faster on the vaccine front. on monday, a protest rally is planned at the san francisco regional office of the u.s. department of health and human services to demand more vaccines. in the newsroom. abc7news. dion: much appreciated. moving onto the east bay now. police are searching for the suspect involved in a triple shooting at a livermore only alley. though it was calm this morning, a 28-year-old man died here last night, as families are gathering for the evening. police said the incident started as an argument in the bar area at around 6:00 and that argument turned into a physical fight. the suspect then pulled out a gun and shot two people before taking off. two are listed in stable condition at the hospital, while livermore police are pursuing several leads in the case. >> so they are splitting up, some are following up on suspect info. lots are interviewing witnesses and also trying -- waiting until

the two other victims who are at the hospital, they get their medical attention first, so we can interview them as well. dion: police say they are confident they will checked on the suspect with the help of the community. the granato bolt will be open tomorrow at 4 p.m.. four firefighters were injured when a ladder trucks collided. the crews were responded to a nese at a vacant pgeed perheer the fire department tells us the four firefighters were taken to the hospital, but not seriously hurt. no word on what caused the crash. two new developments now, the shooting of a mountain view police officer. investigators say they have made an arrest in the case. the driver of an suv shot the officer and drove off during an early stop early yesterday morning. the injured officer is expected to survive. the gunmen crashed less than a mile away on villa street and ran away. officers say they arrested
