building a better bay area moving forward finding solutions. this is abc 7 news. and emotional night in livermore dozens of people gather to remember 28 year old antonio vargas killed in a triple shooting inside a bowling alley. good evening, and thank you for joining us. i'm dionne lim the search continues tonight for the man who opened fire inside the granada bowl on saturday night. vargas was killed and two other men were hurt abc 7 news reporter jr. stone spoke to vargas's. her and has story new at 11? for who are politicals amigos. he just went out for a night of all jose vargas is heartbroken a day after his son 28 year old antonio vargas was shot and killed at the granada bowling alley in livermore.

which happened in greenwood a town of 60,000 people just south of indianapolis the victims ranged in age from early twenties to 30 all but one were women. 12 year old girls suffered a minor injury in that shooting good samaritan was a 22 year old man from a nearby county. the real hero of the day is the the citizen that was lawfully carrying a firearm in that food court and was able to stop this shooter almost as soon as he began. the bomb squad was called in because of an unattended backpack later was declared harmless that was found in a bathroom near the food court that shooting happened just as the mole was closing. new developments tonight in the shooting of a mountain view police officer investigators say they have made an arrest in the case officers released this photo of the suspect 33 year old jeffrey choi from stockton. accused of shooting the officer during a traffic stop early

saturday morning. the suspect crashed his suv less than a mile away on higdon avenue and villa street, then ran away. we eventually were able to locate him today in the east bay and so with the assistance of the us marshals as well as a ton of other law enforcement agencies. we were able to locate him track him and take him into custody this afternoon. the injured officer is expected to survive. there has been an outpouring of support from the community and today the department posted a special. thank you on social media. you at 11 now a man was rescued after his vehicle ended up in some water in oakland tonight. firefighters say the vehicle drove off northbound interstate 880 between 66th avenue and high street. driver's side was submerged but firefighters rescued the driver and he was taking to the hospital. the chp is investigating. well moving on hundreds of people in san francisco were able to get vaccinated against monkey pox today.

some ways the special education students were left out on their graduation date last month parents say it was discrimination, but the school called it an error. abc 7 news reporter tara campbell was in hayward today where the students took center stage in a story. you'll see only on seven. it's the celebration these special education students have been waiting for their names left off the san leandro high school graduation program last month and their diplomas delayed when i see him get something like a certificate or anything any a word. it just reminds me of that little boy fighting for his life. alina munoz's son. joseph was born with special needs. he's been up against some big battles in his young life. surviving cancer and now living with kidney and liver transplants in him now being able to do this it just it really makes. everything all the fight that we've done to keep them alive has been all worth it and she

peninsula residents. it happened in oregon on highway 97 near crater lake national park the oregon state police. say 58 year old andrew castro cone from san carlos veered into oncoming traffic when the car in front of them suddenly hit the brakes and in a strange twistte. he was hit head on by 43 year old ramsey shackby from san mateo both men. killed in that wreck a 20 year old riding with castrakone nicole lindemann also of san carlos was killed seven other people were seriously hurt and taken to the hospital. moving on now to the washburn fire burning in yosemite national park neighbors in the community of wawona who were under an evacuation order were able to return home today the highway 41 entrance to yosemite though remains closed. ruse have successfully kept flames away from the ancient sequoia trees. the fire is now 51% contained. it has been burning since july 7th and has charred more than

sunny day overnight lows will be generally in the upper 50s to low 60. so still pretty mild overnight. not much cooling going on there. tomorrow's highs low 60s coast mainly mid to upper 70s right around the bay shoreline and there will be more mid-90s inland tomorrow in the inland east bay, but the north bay and the south bay inland areas will be warm but not quite that toasty. here's the accuweather. a forecast and notice as i said beginning on tuesday each day. the inland temperatures will be a couple of degrees lower. so this is a gradual cooling tread, but the look the temperatures around the bay shoreline won't change much at all. once they drop down to about 74 on wednesday. they will remain in that range all the way through the weekend coastal areas not so cool temperatures low 60s that's pretty mild for this time of the year. but the inland areas will just be so slow to cool down. by the end of the week going into next weekend. we'll see only upper 80s as the highs in our inland areas where last couple days we had upper

failures at all levels abc news reporter morgan norwood has more escaping new report on the massacre in uvalde, texas its conclusions echoing what frustrated and heartbroken families have said all along more should have been done to try to stop the deadly massacre inside rob elementary school if there's only one thing that i can tell you is there were multiple systemic failures the 77 page for luminary report by a texas health special committee reveals 376 law enforcement officers responded to the scene. from federal and state agencies the report concluding there were multiple systemic failures at all levels federal and state among the reports findings law enforcement responders failed to adhere to their active shooter training and they failed to prioritize saving the lives of innocent victims over their own safety surveillance video shows law enforcement positioning themselves outside of the classroom. the committee says given the information known about the victims who survived through the time of the breach and who later died on the way to the hospital.
