with a unique weather conditions there help keep flights on time most of the time spencer. most of the time that's true, dan and i will you know two of the defining weather elements of the bay area wind and fog tend not to cause delays here at oakland even though the fog often lingers well into the day over in san francisco area in and around san francisco, but as into the daytime hours the sun tends to burn off a lot of that fog before can reach oakland. it dissipates and lingers on the other side of the bay wind also tends not to be a big factor in air travel here, even though we get very powerful wind gusts to blowing through the the gaps in our coastal mountain ranges. so we feel that wind over in san francisco, but it often fans out over the bay as some of it is guided north eastward from san francisco up toward cartoon is straight so it doesn't really to the rivals and departure times so much here at oakland airport. and so it's a great place to be on a day when you're talking
5:21 pm
about. oh, i want to try to hit you right here is not stopping. oh you talk about bay area michael climates a good day to be at oakland now, let's go to sandia for the bigger picture of weather around the bay area spencer. i wish you could go catch a ride. you're trying to catch right there all. absolutely, right beautiful weather there in oakland and you do get the breeze it is. breezy right now at temperatures in the 60s. i want to show you live doppler 7 right now because we do have monsoon moisture triggering some thunderstorms in the sierra, nevada. there were a few storms in the southeastern corner of monterey and san benito counties and that's where we're going to keep. out least for the next few hours still a potential until the sun sets. we do have some fog sitting near the coast on live doppler 7 and a beach hazard statement has been issued through 9 pm wednesday. it's a long period southerly swell bringing a higher risk of rip currents and sneaker waves so dangerous swimming and surfing conditions right on through late wednesday nights, so i would stay away if you can
5:22 pm
or just try to avoid going in temperature is right now anywhere from 59 and half moon bay to the mid 90s inland so still hot in. this is what we expect around this time of year air quality impacts continue near the marsh fire and eastern contra costa county. this is from purple air. we do have some moderate air quality. it is hot there right now winds are gusting to about 14 miles an hour near that march fire air quality advisory continues through tomorrow due to wildfire smoke. so most areas will be good air quality generally speaking moderate in the inland bay best to avoid the smoke if you can it's sucked in on the golden gate bridge right now coastal fog spreads across the bay. night warm to hot inland the next few days and we are looking at a cooler pattern by the end of the week hour by hour we go eight o'clock tonight still a few storms potentially making their way towards the southern end of monterey county parts of san benito county. so just keep that in mind things quiet down and shift eastward tomorrow morning. we'll have the usual fog around the coast and the bay could see a little mist and drizzle as
5:23 pm
well. but like i said the thunderstorm risk will shift more towards the sierra primarily as opposed to a monterey in san benito county. morning temperatures will be in the 50s 60s watch out for that fog and there might be some damp roadways to a little bit of mist and drizzle afternoon highs still going to be hot inland low to mid 90s right along the coast. nice breeze just like today temperatures in the 60s. so temperatures as you look at the accuather seven day forecast coming down a few degrees tomorrow a little more. so on wednesday, but really you have to wait for a cooler afternoon until the end of the week going into the weekend with the low 90s inland. these coast side i think overall though. dananama. we don't have a whole lot to complain about considering. there's a dangerous heat wave that is impacting parts of the central us and also europe is dealing with that deadly heat wave there so i think our weather is actually quite nice. we have to be thankful for that. yes, sandy. thank you. still had the blue angels introduce their newest team
