about this afternoon. >> we are there and live now in oakland were please think they know the motive behind the murder. >> that is right, we know that this is one of three homicides took place in the city of oakland from friday to sunday spoke to the victim's girlfriend and a son, the men was inside the vehicle and was about to start and drive -- ride when they were ambushed by two men and shot. oakland police confirmed the victim's name, if you did-year-old, he moved to this oakland neighborhood about two years ago, one of the neighbors has video of him waving inside his car around 10:36 a.m., two men approached a parked vehicle, open the driver's door, there was the exchange and he was shot and killed. oaklands police chief says there is no indication this was targeted. >> we believe this was a

robbery. we do not know initially what the underlying circumstances may have been, but we know he was working in the area. >> as the councilmember represented this district we hear you, we are working with you, we will continue to partner with you. whether there is violence against a community member or any single member of our community we have to work together. >> oakland police confirmed there have been 64 homicides in 2022 the chief said dietz 19 where this homicide took place is when the most violent areas of the city. oakland confirmed they were continuing to deploy more resources to the area, many said they were concerned, say they live in this neighborhood for about 15 years and describe the last two as the last -- the most violent get ever experience, as for the they still have no information about the two men who shot him.

amanda: thank you for the they just on that. san jose police say they have arrested suspects into recent murders, the search for those involved in the murder yesterday is still underway, one of the murder took place friday morning. police say the incident started with an argument between two homeless men. >> during the altercation whether the males produced a handgun and shot the other one. the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene, responding officers talk to witnesses that pointed out a possible suspect. the suspect was detained, arrested, and booked into jail. amanda: today police also announced the arrest of another homeless man accused of stabbing a woman in downtown san jose tuesday night. they're looking for multiple suspects involved in a large fight on story mode -- road. one man found on the street died later in a. hospital. police are asking for the public

help to help solve this homicide. dan: you've seen this, a man shoplifting at a walgreens then leaving at -- on a bicycle. the suspect was arrested and sentenced to 16 months in prison. amanda: he is out now and please say he is back at a committee was charged again on saturday. dan: any story will only see on abc 7 news, we are in the newsroom to explain the convicted thief was arrested again on saturday. reporter: do you believe that? i want to make it clear this man was in jail until he was sentenced until transferred to prison. he served little more than half of the 16 month sentence then was released. police believe a few months ago. they also told me that his way of doing things was exactly the same as it was a year ago.

the tumble came down after apple announced plans to slow hiring. speaking of apple the company was hit with a lawsuit today over apple pay the class action complaint was filed by a court in san jose, they accuse apple of using its market power in the mobile device industry to fend off competition from other payment industries. apple has not responded to request for comment. amanda: workers in sequoia hospital redwood city are on strike, 300 members of the local 829 walked off the job this morning vowing to be out until they get a better contract. they're demanding better benefits and staff support and raise keep up with inflation. >> they offered us 4%, it is not enough to keep up with the rent.

amanda: in the south bay a group of high school students is getting a crash course drone flight, they are a laura at the san jose state campus, 35 high schools were selected and taking part in a three-week course to build kid -- interest in transportation. >> one of the most critical discussions we have is the shortage and qualified workforce, we need to get kids interested in a career in transportation. as of today over half of our current workforce is eligible for the retirement and next three to five years. amanda: the program is free to the students taking part and earn three unions -- units of college credit for it is a pity. dan: now to the weather, extreme heat as we know on the east coast and europe.
