we are encountering some dense fog this morning but we are in store for a warm and summer day for most of us. temperatures are cooler inland compared to this time yesterday. mid-50's along the coast and low 50's at our coolest spots in the north bay. a live look outside, it is pretty foggy. you can see the fog over the skyscrapers. fog retreats west back to the coast this morning. we are warming pre-fast. 70's and 80's by lunchtime. there is the typical summer spread. 90's in her hottest spots. we will take a close look at these highs in the next few minutes. reggie: a community railing after some a shot and killed a riot hail driver. it was one of several shootings in oakland over the weekend.

luz pena has more from the message from the police chief. reporter: oakland police responded to three hours -- three homicides since friday. one of the latest victims is 52 rolled -- is a 52-year-old. flowers were left on a sidewalk where he was parked when two men ambushed him. >> we believe this was a robbery. reporter: we spoke to the victim's girlfriend and her son who confirmed he was a goober vehicle driver. he was getting ready to start driving. footage shows two men walking up to his door, opening it, words were exchanged and in less than five seconds he was shot and killed. >> people getting robbed at 3:00 a.m. or 3:00 p.m. anthony smith -- reporter: anthony smith says the last two years have been the most violent.

speaking to the police officers, what were you telling them? >> i was telling them this is ridiculous. i understand they are understaffed. still, that is no excuse for the violence going on here. reporter: the area where the homicide took place is not considered one of the most violent. they are asking for opd to increase resources. >> last year we had the defunding of the police so resources were diminished. >> as the councilmember representing this district, we hear you and understand you and will partner with you. reporter: the chief said the majority of crimes are being committed by 1% of the population. he says there is no indication of the homicide was targeted. >> we will shift resources to address violence. the question is are we displacing this violence, moving

it from one place to another? reporter: as for suspects, opd did not give any suspects -- give any specifics. >> the fbi is investigating a multimillion dollar jewelry heist that happened when a truck was traveling from the bay to southern california. ryan is live in san mateo where the truck was leaving. this whole situation sounds like it is out of a movie. ryan: it is almost like a plot you would never think would be in real life. yet here we are, a very wild scene. one that seemed to have been taking a lot of steps to execute. this is the situation we are now in. a truck carrying expensive gems and other items robbed on the way to southern california. it was part of a weekly show

that travels to other areas. it left on its way to southern california. that is when they robbed it and took the things inside. according to the los angeles sheriff's department, there were big items inside that van. diamonds, gold, luxury brand watches. there is a chance they will be able to track them. the mission is on to find those missing items and to took them. it was the trailer targeted off of i-5 while stopped at a rest stop near frazier park. according to the president of international gem and jewelry store, these are part of the show's livelihood and they are worth a lot of money. that is why he says this heist was a complicated one. >> the fbi and investigators

were at our show interviewing everybody, including my employees. anybody that was there could potentially be some kind of suspect. ryan: the mystery is on for who executed this grand heist, stealing millions and millions of dollars of products. these crimes are usually well-thought-out. this is something almost out of a movie but this is a very serious situation. we are talking about extremely expensive items in a plan that they believe was very thought out and targeted. now the search is on for what they think could be millions or hundreds of millions of dollars of items that they are trying to get back. reggie: thank you.

residents of a high-rise damaged by water main break may not be able to get back until late this year or next year. management says residents can commit their lease or return when the building is habitable. it will stop providing assistance. matt dorsey is pushing for agencies to -- he issued a statement saying this is a bad situation that has caused people in the lives of hundreds of residents. none more so than the low and moderate income renters who are at least able to afford near-term housing arrangements on their own. jobina: health officials are expected to provide more details about monkeypox cases today. it comes as local politicians and activists demanded the cdc and fda do more to aid the

back open after a pedestrian was killed on the freeway being hit by multiple vehicles on the monterey boulevard on-ramp. investigators have not said why the person was on the freeway. two vehicles did stop but it is not clear if they are -- involved. reggie: a heist is under investigation. millions of dollars of items stolen from a truck heading from the bay to southern california. now the fbi is stepping in. ryan is live with the details. ryan: it almost seems like a plot right out of a heist movie but this is a very real situation. millions of dollars of high valued items and jewels missing right now. the fbi is trying to figure out what happened and who coordinated this attack. a trailer carrying items robbed on i-five while traveling to southern california.
