this morning close to the coast, we are dealing with visibility issues, there you can see doppler radar, in parts of the north bay, visibility down 1-3 miles. so marine layer is with us for many of us this morning. wakeing up to 50's and low 60's, so take you outside. here's our south beach camera showing you the bay bridge, shrouded in fog this morning as the folks come into the city. we'll get the sunshine coming our way this afternoon and a a wide range of temperatures. 90's making a comeback inland, 70's if not low 80's around the bay shoreline later today. we'll take a close look at the temperatures, also issues along the coast with a beach hazard statement. we'll talk about all of that in a few minutes. reggie: drew. thank you. this morning, an oakland communities is reeling after an uber drive was shot and killed it happened around 11:00 a.m. sunday morning on 13th avenue near east 21st street. it was just one of several shootings in oakland over the weekend. 52-year-old kon fung has been identified as the victim. his girlfriend says he was getting ready to start driving for work when that shooting

happened. video that hasn't been released to the public shows two men walking up to fung's door, opening it, words were exchanged and seconds later, fung was shot. >> we believe that this is -- was a robbery. we don't know initially what the underlying circumstances may have been, but we know that mr. fung was working in the area. jory: oakland's police chief says the area where sunday's homicide took place, is considered one of the most violent in the city. community members are asking for city council members and opd to increase resources. >> this is ridiculous, and you no, i understand that they are understaffed, you know, i mean, but still, that's no excuse to what's -- the violence that's going on here. >> oakland police responded to three homicides since friday. so far in 2022, a total of 64 people have been killed in oakland.

>> this is the kind of stuff that movies are made from. >> millions of dollars worth of gems and jewelry were stolen from a brinks truck traveling from the bay area to southern california. this morning, the f.b.i. and the l.a. county sheriffs department are investigating the heist. abc 7 news reporter am adell cat till. the reporter: a million at this million dollar jewelry heist. luxury items loaded on to a brinks truck, later broken into while pulled over at a rest stop. international gem and jewelry show president arnold duke says the merchandise was being transported by brinks from the san mateo county events center to a show in pasadena. >> they carry all the money that's printed at the u.s. mint to the federal reserve, so there's no question we trust them a million percent.

big ticket items taken last monday include diamonds, gold and luxury brand watches duke says are all engraved with traceable serial numbers. private investigator, and former f.b.i. agent, rick smith, says the sophisticated crime is often systemic. >> as soon as they stole it, they got rid of it, so they couldn't be identified as possessing it. the l.a. county sheriffs department confirms this was not a typical armored car seen in city environments. instead, the trailer was targeted near frasier park in the mountains along i-5. >> you know, these things used to be so prolific, one of the most dangerous jobs in the world was being a brinks driver and a guard. >> the reporter: historically targeted for what they transport. but there is some discrepancy in the value of items taken in this case. brinks says in part, according to the information the customers provided to us, before they shipped their items, the total value of the missing items is less than $10 million. however, duke says exhibitors

estimate the value at up to $150 million. >> it's a common practice for these jewelers to underinsure simply because if you insure everything you have, it's very -- it's just very, very expensive. the reporter: at least 16 exhibitors part of this weekly traveling show, are now out in millions of dollars worth of luxury items. their livelihood, according to duke. the f.b.i. is assisting in the investigation. brinks and the crew of the vehicle are cooperating with officials. >> the f.b.i. and the police investigators, detectives, were at our show in pasadena this weekend intervying everybody, including my -- interviewing everybody, including my employees, because anybody that was there, could potentially be some kind of suspect. he says the outcome of this case has the potential to impact the entire jewelry industry. i'm amanda del castillo, abc 7 news. >> residents of the san francisco high rise damaged by a massive water main break may not be able to return until late this year, possibly even next

jobina: now is the marsh fire which is burning near pittsburgh. but officials say firefighters are making progress. about 20,000 gallons of water per minute from the delta are being bumped into the site. the fire is burning deep in the peat of the marsh lands. drew: we'll have moderate air quality at the fire because of the marsh fire. elsewhere, we're good to go. we do expect better air quality

for everybody tomorrow, with an increased onshore flow. so just be aware of that if you live near the marsh fire. let's take a look at temperatures. 50's and 60's this morning around the bay shoreline by 11:00 a.m., 70's and 80's shortly before lunchtime and then into the afternoon, very july-like pattern. we'll have a wide range temperatures. the hottest spots going back into the low and mid 90's today. we'll go to 87 in san jose, inland 94 for a high, so it is hot with sunshine inland. 72 in oakland. 66 in the city. 63 half moon bay. palo alto up to 80 degrees. when cooler weather will hit us by the end of the week coming up in the seven-day forecast. first let's say hi to sue and see how we're doing with traffic on this tuesday. the reporter: we're busy, drew especially if you're commuting bart this morning, we have 47 trains, but delays, still no service in the concord pleasant hill stations due to a grass fire there. there is a bus bridge in place on the sfo antioch line and now we're recovering in the richmond line, because of earlier equipment problems.

he is charged with contempt for refusing to comply with the subpoena in the investigation. jobina: in the east bay, a livermore bowling alley as reopened with modified hours after a deadly weekend shooting. the search for the suspect is still going. family and friends are in shock and on edge. >> i couldn't sleep last night, all night. i literally got to work, they were like, are you ok? he was a loving person and he deserved the world. like he did not deserve to go it's very shock being that this happened to him. jobina: livermore police are looking for this man. 27-year-old roger aleman garcia. detectives believe he shot and killed antonio vargas at the granada bowl bowling alley over the weekend. >> he said, there was a shooting at the bowling alley, we were having her birthday party, and i saw the man, pull the gun out of his waistband and i yelled, gun, run.

jobina: police believe the shots were fired after a verbal and then physical fight. garcia's location is unknown, but many friends of the family worry that if he isn't in the area, he's attempting to cross the border into mexico. reggie: new help on the way for asian-owned businesses hit hard by the pandemic, but you have to act quickly. the aapi program will provide grants up to $25,000 for up to 100 businesses across the country. businesses must be aapi majority owned. there are also some revenue requirements. there's still some time to apply on-line at aapi strong.com. the application process is open through july 26. kfc is hoping chicken nuggets will be the key to -- [indiscernible] starting this week, they're testing nuggets in north carolina. if they are a success, kfc plans to replace popcorn chicken on the menu across the country. analysts say the again-z is an important group for restaurants,

the california coast. jobina: a large group of truckers are expected to be back out at the port of oakland again today. they're protesting the state to keep their status as independent contractors. it's a conflict that's been brewing in the shipping industry for a couple years now. they're not happy with some of the changes, state assembly bill 5 would bring. ab-5 requires trucking companies to treat their independent contractors as employees, which will be providing employee benefits for them, but many independent truckers say they would -- the change would also mean they would have to pay extra insurance and licensing costs. >> if they wantedhaould employ themnd they'd be an employee, they can walk into a plethora of companies here at the port and they could do so, but there's a reason why they haven't. so they want to stay independent. jobina: legal efforts to block ab-5 have failed, so it's now set to take effect as soon as

typical summer spread, our hottest spots going back into the 90's. we'll take a closer look at the highs coming up in about eight minutes guys. reggie: drew thank you. lanes are back open on the southbound side of southbound 280 if san francisco after the c.h.p. tells us a pedestrian was killed on the freeway after they got hit by multiple vehicles near the monterey boulevard on-ramp. investigators have not said why the person was on the freeway. two vehicles did stop, but it's not yet clear if they were involved in this crash, we'll let you know more as soon as we get into the newsroom. jobina: san francisco unified's new leaders are promising a first of its kind document outlining specific academic goals, according to the chronicle. the announcement came day after a workshop with the district's new superintendent, new board president and three new board members. among other things, the quote, visions values goals and guardrails document will provide steps to improve student outcomes, and ensure equity across the district. the district plans to share the

we're hearing there is police activity there. ryan curry is there live to tell us what we know so far. the reporter: good morning. we got here just moments ago, saw a lot of police tape cautioned off over one of the carousels in terminal 3 here at sfo and police are continuing to investigate what may have happened. we're hearing reports from the starbucks, just over the other side of this police tape, that somebody witnessed ati stabbing. now, we haven't confirmed this quite yet with police about what was going on. but what we do know is that they're able to tape off this whole area, and they're trying to keep us a good safe distance from this while they continue to investigate. anybody who's in this area is having to go up and around the caution tape, or outside and around, in case they're trying to get to this part of the terminal. the other carousels are fine. there's no other tape around that. but it's just this one section is where they've currently taped off, trying to kind of piece together what may have happened here moments ago at sfo.

the starbucks is open, and people are obviously still getting their coffee in this morning. but this section of the airport is close and we did see a good number of police officers probably about a dozen, over in this area, trying to piece together what happened. we haven't seen much physical evidence here at the airport, of what may have happened, but what we to know is that there seems to be a good amount of presence here investigating again, what starbucks has said is a stabbing in this area. we're going to try to get proper information over here, but again, there's definitely some police activity in this section of the airport. live at sfo, ryan curry, abc 7 news. reggie: happening now, a palo alto police are looking for a man suspected of stealing items from a store at the stanford shopping center. police say when they got to lulu lemon, they arrested four people for theft, range in age from 16 to 22. officers recovered 300 total items valued at more than $38,000. police are still looking for a fifth man. you can see him here in this surveillance. if you see him, you're asked to

contact palo alto police. you might remember this viral video from last june. a man who was arrested and sentenced to 16 months in prison and then recently released. well, he's just been arrested again, accused of doing the exact same thing. john romero was arrested for shoplifting at a san francisco cvs this time. police say he's stolen up to $15,000 worth of merchandise from that store alone. watch as employees shows you what police say romero was trying to take when he got arrested. >> all of this. >> in one day? >> yes. >> how many times has he come? >> two or three times day. i've seen him in here twice and i hard he comes in at night too. he goes straight to -- morning, straight to where the garbage bags are, opens one up, fills them up. like this. and then he helps himself to a

all right. it looks like another car might be going along with it. as you zoom out there. you can can see -- so this hole swallowed up the van. local officials stay extreme weather which is caused by flooding, is the reason for all of this. and there are reports of another car falling into the sinkhole. reggie: extreme heat in london started to -- i guess -- i'm not really sure what that says. in any case, hundreds were stranded at the airport as flights were delayed, postponed or cancelled altogether. according to the met office, temperatures in luton hit a high of 95 degrees on monday. the flights did resume toward evening. england is still under a red extreme heat warning. as temperatures are expected to reach 105 degrees today. jobina: federal prosecutors and the department of labor are inspecting amazon warehouses or fulfillment centers is what they're often called across the country as part of the civil

reggie: a massive day opposing markets for netflix. the company is due to report its second quarter earnings today, it was once the darling of wall street, it suddenly find sit he in the midst of a pretty bad year. netflix' stock is down about 70% so far in 2022. the company lost subscribers in the first quarter, it's the first time that's happened in more than a decade. netflix is predicting another subscriber loss in its report today, somewhere around two million. the company does still have more subscribers than any other streaming service, and just laid out plans for a cheaper ad-supported plan. so we'll see how that goes. another bay area tech giant appears to be pulling back on hiring and spending. bloomberg is now reporting that apple is scaling back plans amid worries about a looming economic slowdown. mountain view's google as well as microsoft and amazon have already made similar moves. and g.m. is making a bold prediction on its future in the electric vehicle world. c.e.o. mary bera is sticking to
