announcer: building a better bay area, moving forward, finding solutions, this is abc 7 news. >> a pilot is in the hospital after crashing his plane in san jose. the investigation into what exactly went wrong. good morning. let's start with a quick look at the weather. there is meteorologist lisa argen. lisa: we are starting out with mist and drizzle with dense fog in the city of san francisco. the marine layer from the san mateo coast, a little break through martin, but further to the north, there is fog. 57 in elsa brontë.

the fog from pacifica to half moon bay, 2.5 feet visibility. there is a look at the roof camera where the sun comes up after 6:00 with temperatures cool at the coast, only in the 50's to near 60 all day thow0'ndhe bay. 80 at noon time. highs approaching 90 and some of the warmest locations. we will talk about seasonal weather and changes ahead. stephanie: investigators looking into a small plane crash in san jose. they believe the pilot went down shortly after taking off. abc 7 news reporter amanda del castillo spoke with residents who live near the scene. amanda -- >> i heard a big noise and then it went like that and

then it went right there. amanda: she was outside of her home playing with her grandchild when this single engine took down power lines and crashed at 730 p.m. friday. the faa said the pilot was parking from a county airport and went belly down. >> this is a residential area, this is not palo alto. they are in the middle of a residential area. >> one we are sleeping or laying with our grandchildren. this is too much. amanda: video shared with abc 7 news show what followed. the pilot laid out with a nearby pile of blood. >> he must've been flying low to

hit the power line and have that loud noise and just the fact that he was hitting the gate and he was still moving. it was pretty overwhelming. amanda: those living around there were evacuated. police say the pilot sustained life-threatening injuries but had been stabilized. >> we are trying to close the airport and this is good ammunition. amanda: they say this is just one of many aircraft crashes they have seen. >> there were some people helping out and blocking so the cars could go around and there were people hopping the pilot. amanda: this is unfortunate and they say their concerns are returning. crews have responded come working to restore power. we are told there was no reported structural damage to any of the property in the area.

the faa and ntsb are investigating. stephanie: a wildfire in mariposa county has forced evacuations for several areas around yosemite national park. this is new video overnight of the so-called oak fire which ignited yesterday afternoon. it has now burned more than 4300 acres. officials say the flames are spreading rapidly. it is 0% contained as of this morning. structures have burned in mariposa. a downtown resident tells us a dangerous mix of conditions left his neighborhood extremely vulnerable. >> it is extremely dry and right now it is really windy. all of the trees are blowing. it is pretty much the worst conditions you can imagine. it is super dry and super hot and windy. >> they told us that everybody has to go. at 4:00 the power went out and the fire was moving faster and

faster. stephanie: evacuation centers are now open. red cross is on hand to assist. for the second time in two months, the world health organization is weighing whether the ongoing global outbreak of monkeypox infections once a public health emergency, after the cdc announced two confirmed cases in children yesterday, one a toddler. monkeypox spreads through close skin to skin contact which for children could mean holding, cuddling, feeding and shared items. california has the second most cases behind new york. san francisco has 200 cases of monkeypox, either probable or confirmed. nearly every bait area county has reported at least one case and this map shows how widespread it is. new data shows the latinx

that was thrown over this one of the employees, but luckily one of the employees was able to block it. stephanie: the bakery's owner suffered a broken finger in the altercation. starbread is now considering installing a take-out would do to keep employees safe. a block party in chinatown, the second annual block party, will take place on pacific avenue between stockton street and grant av grant avenue. the goal is to ring together chinese and black residents. the speaking program begins at 12:30. the mayor and the san francisco police chief are expected to attend. the mega millions jackpot is continuing to grow. no one won and the drawing for tuesday is now a $790 million. no one has won since april and
