vaccinated. thank you for joining us. we began with a focus on health. part of the ongoing commitment to build a better bay area. the monkeypox outbreak has been declared a public health emergency. what this means for the bay area, where cases are rising. >> health experts say 60,000 cases have been reported in 70 countries. local officials hope that will mean more vaccines in the bay area. >> the global outbreak represents a public health emergency of international concern. >> powerful words from the head of the world health organization. the emergency declaration is the first time the head of the u.n. health agency has taken such action. >> it is moving quickly and just like covid we need to react fast, especially when we have a solution. >> currently 100 97 cases have

been identified in san francisco but that number is expected to increase. she hopes the declaration will speed the delivery of vaccines. >> we had about 10,000 vaccines, we need about 70,000. we submitted a request for already 5000. >> the acknowledgment of world health organization that monkeypox is a global emergency reinforces that the way to address this health emergency is to provide the resources necessary to local governments, especially cities like san francisco. governor gavin newsom's office tweeted this video saturday saying california has received more vaccines from the federal government and is distributing them to communities most impacted. clinics have seen long lines were some people have been turned away. and has put the communities

of yosemite national park. the so-called oak fire isg rapi. it has destroyed 10 structures overnight. the fire exploded in size at more than 10 square miles sense it ignited yesterday afternoon. governor gavin newsom has declared that gallup -- california has secured a grant to fight the fire. new evacuation orders were issued this morning for the area just north of the town of mariposa. one third of the county's population is now under evacuation order. >> it is really heartbreaking because it has been year after year and to think about the entire state and everywhere else there has been so many fires and so many homes. the elderly, just thinking about the people who really have hardships. >> we have a lot of personnel that work in this area that
