they're described as being very aggressive day biters that can transmit zika yellow and dengue fevers. often in vegetation and places with standing water they're nonnative to california and usually found in warmer climates. contra costa says now that it's been identified, they'll work to try to prevent the new insects from becoming established locally. a job that victoria says they're confident local authorities can do. the county has taken multiple steps to help residents fight mosquitoes and other pest. >> you know, they give you information about the standing water. but they'll treat your yard too if you have a big problem mosquitoes, they come out and spray. >> contra costa is asking residents to report any day biting mosquitoes, a task they'll be mindful of in the days and weeks ahead.
