5:04 am
according to the district, they will keep this requirement in place as long as the cdc shows a high level of covid-19 spread in the community. but even if the county is out of that high-level spread tier, the school district plans to require mask at individual schools if at least 10% of the student body is out sick for three days. other districts across the bay area do not have this requirement, and there are no requirements or mandates in place by the state or individual counties. masks right now are only considered strongly recommended. we do know in fact how transmissible this omicron subvariant is spreading right now. the good news, it does seem as if we are over the summer surge, which is good, given the fact that schools are now getting back in session, this district in particular wanting to add the extra protection right now as students return to the classroom.
