florida. it comes after he is refusing to answer questions about his personal business. jobina: the search of former president trump's home was initiated by a conversation federal agents had with trump and his associates in june. the search warrant was based on an fbi informant who told agents that they were classified documents at his estate. christopher wray, the fbi director appointed by donald trump, was asked about the search and said he could not talk about it but many republicans continue to demand answers. >> how come you did not negotiate something with the president, as you did with hillary clinton about her information? jobina: yesterday, donald trump was deposed in a separate investigation into his personal business. he answered one question about his name, then cited the fifth amendment for every other

question. that is something he has frequently attacked opponents about. he says he feels personally attacked by the government. kumasi: a beach is closed until saturday after a shark attacked a paddle border and his dog in monterey bay. they escaped with no injuries but this is the second attack there this summer. >> i watched them go out. i thought it was so cute, taking his dog out. he did not have a life vest, so it could have gone bad. kumasi: the victim says the shark was as long as his board. it left behind clear bite marks. the director of a local research shark center said it was just exploring and it may have been a great white. >> the get around 10 feet, then they are looking at marine mammals and things like surfboards and stuff. they will investigate because

their diets are shifting to larger prey. kumasi: he estimates the shark should be two or three years old. he assures us that shark incidents are rare. california usually has three or four attacks each year. if you want breaking news alerts in the future, download our app and search abc7 news. reggie: the vaccine clinic from monkeypox opens at 8:00 a.m. this morning for walk-ins. yesterday they gave out more than 700 doses. at one point they had at all. many counties are preparing to change the way the vaccine is administered. we told you this week about the new recommendation from the fda, to and give people one faith of a full dose. that smaller shot has to be administered in a different way. it goes between layers of skin rather than under the skin, and

>> water use and availability are a function of where you are. reporter: the state collects water data by looking at these 10 hydrologic regions, areas defined by natural water flows. how water is used can be different region to region, and those differences factor into conservation plans. in two of the most northern regions of the state, environmental water holds the top spot. that is water dedicated to ensure the health of ecosystems for fish and wildlife. as far as conservation goes. >> mother nature does that because it is based on precipitation available. reporter: in most of the state, water is used mostly for agriculture. >> the ultimate conservation tool is fallow land. take land out of production. reporter: in the san francisco bay and south coast, the water uses are mostly urban.

inlf couesfactord businesses. and of course, homes. >> there you are looking at a measure such as more efficient plumbing, reducing outdoor water use for landscape and lawns. those things. reporter: even though statewide agricultural water is the most common use, many conservation efforts focus on urban water. >> if the community runs out of water that is a serious problem, so much of the state's focus is on the health and safety aspect and making sure that communities have enough water. but if you look at indoor versus outdoor water use, it may be easier to reduce the outdoor water use and cause less pain, so to speak. reporter: when there are droughts, agencies implement conservation measures like limiting outdoor water use or recycling water. it is called an urban water management plan.

district. our reporter is in the newsroom with the superintendent's response. reporter: the oakland unified school district's superintendent says the incident when a protester was hurt is under review. this after months of rising tension over the closer of several schools -- closure of schools in the district. this video was provided by some protesters occupying one of the closed schools last week. that is when tensions are starting to boil over between protesters, district security. max was a protester. he showed us a cut on his lip and bruises, and injuries he claims he got from an encounter with security. he says he has been to the er twice for his injuries and he plans on pressing charges. before that, he went before the school board at their first meeting of the year last night to criticize the events.

he tells us he is determined to keep fighting to reopen the now closed schools. max: we could repair all the damage that has been done and hold every single person accountable for this attack against our community and our children. >> there were physical confrontations between the individuals attempting to enter the building and the security staff who were trying to keep people out. the incident is officially under review. however, the district does not condone violence by anyone. lena: that was the first time we heard from the superintendent, dr. johnson trammell, on the incident. and with school board elections coming up in november, the protester we heard from, max, says the fight is far from over as he himself plans to run for a seat now. kumasi: now at 6:00, youtube is

70's. it tonight, low clouds return. that is our summer pattern. drizzle near the coast. it will be mounted with lows in the 50's, around 60 in most locations. then the seven-day shows a steady pattern of warmer weather through the weekend. reggie: we are tracking breaking news in the east bay, an investigation happening at the 24 hour fitness in brentwood after there was an incident at the gym. ryan is live with what we know. ryan: good morning. what we know is there seems to be a large-scale altercation here at the 24 hour fitness in the early hours, and police are still on the scene trying to piece together what led up to it. we believe there may have been a shooting inside and more than one person is injured. we are still trying to collect all the exact details, but what we can tell you is there's still many investigators here on the scene. the entire parking lot is shut

down. obviously, the gym is closed. all throughout the parking lot, you will see scattered circles, pink circles are dictating evidence markers. detectives are still communicating with each other, trying to piece together what led up to this. a lieutenant spoke in the early morning quickly following the incident, saying that there was a large-scale altercation that happened either inside or near the entrance of the 24 hour fitness. that then came outside. and that is when it came to the parking lot in front of the gym. we are trying to get all the information. we recently arrived. what we can tell you now is many investigators are here, many squad cars. and many evidence markers in the parking lot. there seems to be a of people involved, definitely more than just a few people. we are hoping to get a spokesperson from the police department here soon to give us

details on what possibly led up to this. we do not know the exact amount of people possibly involved or injured, but we know someone -- but we do know something big happened here just a few hours ago. reggie: wind turbines are coming to the coastline. the california energy commission approved the plane yesterday to build wind farms in the pacific ocean. the first two of them would be off of humble county. the goal is to produce 25% of california's power needs from offshore wind energy. this would be the first offshore wind project to include floating platforms of turbines in the u.s. kumasi: closing arguments and scott peterson's effort to get a new trial today. the attorneys will make their cases before a judge. peterson was convicted of murdering his wife 20 years ago. in 2020, a court overturned his sentence because of juror

misconduct. now they are looking at if he deserves a new trial. reggie: good news and bad news on inflation. prices overall may be leveling off. but we are still paying more for rent and groceries. jobina: i went to the grocery store over the weekend. it really hurts at the checkout. inflation has been at a 40 year high for much of the year. some economists say it has peaked. the consumer price index dropped from 9.1% in june to 8.5% in july. those represent the jumping prices from the same month a year ago. the dow rallied on the news, jumping more than 500 points yesterday. the s&p hit a three month high. >> it is far from done. we are moving in the right direction. jobina: while prices for gas, airfare and clothing are falling, other east central goods are getting more

expensive. for example, food is up by 13% from last year, the largest increase since 1979. rent of primary residences rose by .7% since june. at the typical u.s. household is paying about $460 more per month for the same goods and services they would have paid for last year. reggie: for the first time since march, nationwide gas prices have gone below four dollars a gallon. despite the drop prices are 25% higher compared to this same time last year. and we are paying more here because we always do. the regular price is at five dollars 52 -- $5.52. kumasi: happening today, breaking ground an and affordable housing project in santa clara county. it will be built near monterey road and morgan hill. it will have a total of 73 affordable units, including 30 dedicated to farmworkers.

here is the seven-day forecast. a nice warm period through monday with a little bit of heat building inland on tuesday and wednesday when we will see some 90's. maybe even closer to 100. 80's at the bay shoreline. a 70's at the coast. a lovely summertime forecast. reggie: the search resumes this morning for a man presumed dead in rio vista. deputies got the call to come out to sandy beach around 4:00 p.m. yesterday. they were trying to rescue a 20-year-old man from oakland, but they were unable to do so. this is the latest drowning. last month, three men drowned in the same area while trying to rescue a boy. at boy survived. kumasi: the department of transportation is funneling millions to san francisco for safety upgrades for howard street. there have been 152 crashes on howard in just five years. more than half of those involved
