of fbi agent in june. the search came after the justice department concluded he had not turned over everything demanded. >> that could explain why the department of justice felt the need to go in there with a criminal search warrant. maybe this is the explanation for why they had to use these more intrusive means, because they tried to subpoena, tried to get the documents and didn't get them. jobina: attorney general merrick garland announced the dea filed a motion to unseal the search warrants and showing what was taken. a judge has given's the doj and trump's lawyers on -- until noon on whether he opposes the motions. it does not appear he well. reggie: following the fbi search, there's been a sharp rise in violent and extremist rhetoric online. some of it directed at bay area congress members including representatives eric swalwell

numbers. tim: for eric swalwell, it poses a grave danger not just for himself and his family but for the nation as a whole. >> our country is at a dangerous point. democracy is on life support. tim: he released what was once on the fringes of the internet is becoming mainstream, some of it repeated by elected officials . he's calling on colleagues in congress to tone down the rhetoric. >> that fires people up and makes them feel they have to take up arms against a lawless government. tim: perhaps even more dangerous is that many of those officials parroting extremist views do not believe what they are saying. according to swallow well, they are doing it to score political points. >> their "fans," constituents interpret it as real. tim: despite the rise in

extremism, eric swalwell holds hope for america, saying there's more that unites us. >> gun safety, health care, the environment, money and politics, we want the same thing. tim: tim johns, abc7news. kumasi: an important part of building a better bay area, the nation's top health agency is relaxing covid-19 guidelines because most americans 16 and over have acquired some level of immunity. ryan curry is live with what local health experts are saying. ryan: major changes from the cdc, essentially dropping the social distancing guideline, saying that most of us have some sort of immunity. whether because we got the vaccine or because we had previously contracted covid virus. according to health officials, they say this is now matching recommendations with reality.

the six feet of social distancing no longer recommended nor is the test tuesday stay practice for k-12 schools. they are also relaxing quarantine time if you have covid. the recommendation is you can end isolation after five days if you are fever-free for 24 hours. you should wear a mask after that. health experts say this was bound to happen eventually. >> we are exposed constantly because there's so much virus and i think pragmatically the idea of quarantine was out the window a long time ago. ryan: the cdc's message -- let's take walnut creek, usually on a friday or saturday night bustling with people going out to restaurants and bars, enjoying themselves. it is not too long when we remember that was shut down. a lot of it has returned to

between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., while the sf clinic will be open from 8:30 until 3:30. kumasi: the bacteria found in legionnaires' disease has been found. they found high levels in a cooling tower at the county of justice and in a pond on california boulevard. that bacteria was identified at a cooling tower in the same hotel. it is a type of pneumonia caused by a bacteria that grows in warm water from air conditioning malfunctions, hot tubs, and water systems. 13 people were diagnosed since july 11 and one person died. two are in the hospital. reggie: governor newsom is calling for new projects to ease california's water shortage. he toured the water desalination plant under construction and released a 19 point plan to speed up permitting and

financing of local water projects like this one, including building reservoirs, recycling water facilities and desalination plants. california is expected to lose 10% of its water supply in the next two decades. spencer: let's take a look at the weather. we will start with a look at the current temperatures, once again low 50's in santa rosa petaluma. 54 livermore. my clicker is not working right so bear with me. i will show you what's coming our way. a nice warm up going into the weekend so let's pick up these forecast features. you can see morning clouds, and patchy fog will disappear, giving way to a gradual warming trend. inland heat will peak next week and we might see triple digit temperatures. starting at 7:00, patches of low clouds hanging around but they will quickly give way to sunny skies midmorning.

accounts believed to belong to the suspect, calling for war and fbi agent's to be killed on site . in one post yesterday he appeared to detail his failed attempt to enter the fbi office saying, it is true, i tried attacking the fbi. other social media posts claim he was that january 6 capitol riot. yesterday he dressed in body armor with an ar-15 and a nail gun, tried to break into the visitor screening facility as well. >> he was unsuccessful and fled the area. jobina: he then drove 16 miles down the highway, shooting from his car. officers managed to corner the suspect in a cornfield where they shot and killed him after he raised a gun toward officers. reggie: new developments about

the san francisco high-rise that has been shut down for months after catastrophic flooding. there is now more flooding. the first flood forced about 600 tenants from the building in june and they've never been allowed to return. this week another leak forced evacuation of construction workers trying to fix the building. some residents were there and discovered more than just water damage. >> we see items from our apartment and some of our neighbors. there are late-night intruders coming in and being caught on our neighbors' cameras. those are lucky enough to have internet. reggie: in a statement, the building management says they have secured the site and residents should notify police or the company if there is specific activity. they also address accusations residents have been forced to

pay utility bills, calling that "misinformation." kumasi: an investigation is underway after 21,000 fish used for research were found dead. the endangered salmon were kept at the uc davis center for biology and aquaculture. it appears they were exposed to chlorine and only a small amount survived. uc davis says they will hold themselves accountable to prevent it from happening again. faculty members are looking to contact collaborators. reggie: the houses expected to pass the inflation reduction act today. the $750 bill -- $750 million bill includes clean energy and climate reform. medicare can negotiate lower prices for prescriptions and a cap can be placed. the bill will put a 15% tax on
