now to those new polio concerns. health officials in new york city saying that the virus has been detected in wastewater. phil lipof has the latest. good morning to you, phil. >> good morning to you, eva. you know, new york city mayor eric adams has called this a trifecta problem. first covid, then monkeypox, and now the virus that causes polio has been found in new york city's wastewater. this on the heels of the first case of polio in the united states since 1979 being identified in rockland county, new york. this happened just last month. that diagnosis prompted health officials to test the wastewater where the virus was found in both rockland and orange counties. it was found there. now it's been detected in new york city's wastewater. so what does this all mean? the findings are alarming because, as you know, polio had been eradicated in the united states. still, health experts say most people in the u.s. are protected as the polio vaccine is part of the vaccination schedule for children.
