camera. the brush fires happening 580 westbound before eating canyon. police are conducting evacuations in the shafer ranch area. the two right lanes are blocked in traffic is backing up. looking to monitor the fire and we will bring you updates as soon as we get them. >> firefighters in vacaville were able to hold a grass fire to 23 acres roque out in a remote area just before noon on pleasant valley road. it took crews just over an hour to stop forward progress, and then they say they will continue to monitor any hotspots. >> air quality advisories in effect for the bay area because of a wildfire burning to the north, it's called the six rivers lightning complex. it was sparked by 12 lightning strikes during the storm earlier this month. right now there are six active fires making up the complex that have burned more than 19,000 acres and it is 17% contained. >> between air quality in heat there was a lot to discuss. >> let's get to abc's

meteorologists. >> let's take a look at how hot and what you need to worry about. 105 degrees in fairfield today. so far 100 and brett lawrie. upper 90's in concord and livermore. there were more already peaked in the triple digits. it's comfortable in places like san francisco, 71 degrees. it's only going to get hotter inland, heat advisory tomorrow, 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. this covers the east bay valleys and hills. solano county goes until friday night, lake and mendocino counties, that advisory until wednesday night. looking at hot weather, 100 to 110, it's 110 in places like lake, mendocino and solano counties. bay area up to 100 six degrees, it will cool off overnight. the risk of heat isn't there, especially if you don't have ac or a fan. you can see some haze from our east bay hills.

as we are expecting the combination of hot weather and wildfire smoke from up around humboldt, trinity county to come into the bay area in small concentrations. back with a full look at the forecast and when we get some cooler weather. >> we will check back with you and check the forecast for you live anytime on the abc 7 bay area streaming tv app on apple tv, android tv and roku. search abc 7 bay area to download it. >> we continue to follow breaking news in oakland where police are looking for someone who shot somebody this afternoon and may have been involved in another firearm incident yesterday. police say the victim is an innocent bystander with no connection to the shooter. sky 7 was overhead as police scour the area near the boating center. police say at 2:00 the shooter got into an argument, open fire and hit a bystander. the victim was shot twice and rushed to the hospital. police say the shooter may be the same person who flashed a

gun at people in the same area. employees and nerve -- nearby children's fairyland were evacuated during the search. >> san francisco's expanding access to the monkeypox vaccine. the public-health director announced plans to double vaccine clinic hours at s.f. general. our abc7news reporter was there for the announcement and joins us live from the newsroom. >> in an effort to make sure even more people seeking the monkeypox vaccine have access to it, the city's public health director says they will be keeping their weekday clinics open from 8:00 to 4:00 now instead of 8:00 to noon monday through friday, just as long as possible. something they are now able to do because of greater supply and efficiency. more than a quarter of california's total monkeypox cases are in san francisco, a welcome announcement from the city public-health director. >> we are expanding hours of this vaccine clinic, we are now going to be able to double the

amount of time that we are offering vaccines at the clinic monday through fridays from 8:00 to 4:00. >> he says even though the lines lacing around san francisco general hospital have started to die down, their work is far from over and demand remains high. they are averaging 600 to 700 vaccines a day. >> as we've learned to do what it takes, we are doing better. we are giving about the same amount of vaccine a day here because we have simply approved our processes. we have taken information from the community and people being served at the clinic about how to give vaccine's >> hpita ceo dr. susan invited the community and on saturday for their first weekend monkeypox vaccine clinic. something she expects to continue as long as supply allows. >> we actually did an amazing job, our team did an amazing job

with 882 vaccines on saturday. as dr. colfax is saying, even though we didn't see lines, we provided a lot of vaccine. >> while the fda offered new guidance on how the vaccine could be administered to get more doses out of a single vial called intradermal injections, colfax says san francisco still waiting on the cdc and state approval before they can adopt a new method. >> encouraging news, but this is something that's potentially doable, but it takes a slightly different type of training for people who haven't done intradermal vaccines before. quick san francisco is still working with the more than 10,000 doses they were given from the federal supply last week. they expect that to last through at least thursday of this week. the public health department is still waiting to hear how many doses they will be getting next and win. live in the newsroom, abc7news. >> the bacteria that causes

legionnaires' disease has been found at a hotel in san jose. county health officials tested a pool and a hot tub at the hotel's san jose cupertino after a couple staying their contracted legionnaires. the chronicle reports that tests on july 29 found the bacteria in the hot tub. the spot is closed and is being decontaminated. no one from the hotel has responded to our request for comment on this. legionnaires' disease is contracted by inhaling aerosolized -- aerosolized water droplets containing the legionnaire bacteria, which grow in warm water. >> the school gets back in the session, families will deal with the inevitable notifications and exposures to test. new suggested guidelines from the fda are different than what local health departments in california are recommending. our abc7news reporter has the details. >> home test kits are important to the new suggested guidelines

issued by the fda. following a known exposure to someone with covid-19, even if you have absolutely no symptoms, the fda is now recommending three home tests be administered. testing when you find out, waiting several days in testing again on day three, and then again on day five. the new calculus from the fda reveals that two tests catch 60% of asymptomatic cases, three tests catch 80%. what to do as kids go back to school? using more home test kits is both expensive and difficult. >> for some families, this might not be ■feasible, it could be burdensome. it is the best way to prevent those who may have infection to expose others and prevent transmission, but it is a bit clumsy, it's not as simple as just doing one test. >> but the state of california

has not changed their guidelines for how to respond if you have a covert exposure, even if you have no symptoms. >> we are aligning with, as we've been, with state guidelines. although we are not specifying the number of times they should test, we are still recommending to test three to five days after an exposure. >> ultimately, it's up to each family as we all go into unknown covert territory this fall. in the east bay, abc7news. >> the oakland police department is looking for help locating two teenage girls into separate cases. 14-year-old natalia perez rivera was seen at 10:30 on 40 8th avenue in the fairfax neighborhood. she is 5'5", 155 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. 13-year-old daisy lancaster is also missing. last seen at the extended stay america hotel in alameda about 3:30 saturday afternoon.

daisy is four foot 8, 115 pounds with long hair and brown eyes. if you have any information at all on either of these girls, please call the oakland police department immediately. >> there are new developments in the effort to clear out a massive homeless encampment and the east bay. they resumed cleanup work on which street under the 880 and 580 streets. a fire killed one person raising safety concerns. the cities clean cleanup is separate from caltrans effort to close the encampment, which was halted by a temporary restraining order. oakland plans to set up a 50 unit emergency housing center. >> a fremont police officer was injured in a crash as he was responding to a call. it happened this morning on warm springs and mission boulevard. officers say the crews had lights and sirens on when it crashed into a car. the driver of the car hit several other cars. the officer was treated and released from the hospital. investigators are working to determine the exact cause of the

the da about their plans to prevent more crimes like this. she is live in the newsroom. >> the suspects are from oakland and several known across the bay area. police arrested three of them in a separate case. two of them were minors. 15 days ago she was robbed and attacked by multiple suspects inside her apartment complex. today sfpd announced so suspects have been identified. >> an 18-year-old resident and three juvenile suspects ages 11, 13 and 14. >> the suspects were booked on several charges with the exception of the 14-year-old, who still has a warrant for his arrest. in the 11-year-old cannot be charged due to his age. the charges are the following, robbery, elderly abuse, burglary, false imprisonment and

conspiracy. community leaders are urging other victims of attacks to speak out. pointing to these arrests as a sign of justice. >> we have seen a continued wave of these horrible attacks, and we know they are not isolated incidents. >> we spoke to sfpd's lieutenant who said this video was key to identify the suspects and confirmed the 18-year-old is known by many law enforcement officers. >> i could tell you that not just with the identification, oakland pd, alameda county juvenile probation and the police department and definitely sfpd officers are the ones that are out there working every day, hard, they were the ones who identify the suspects in this case. click san francisco's new district attorney had a strong message about prosecuting the suspects. >> i commend the san francisco police department for solving this so quickly and we will take it from here. quick so he asked what's her

our patients need us and we want to be there for them. quick strikes will contingent -- strikes will continue at different locations throughout the state including the bay area. >> beleaguered laguna hospital can keep its doors open a little longer thanks to a federal extension. today it was announced that the san francisco nursing home has two more months to develop a closure plan. that extends the closing date to november 13. >> we see this as a good thing, it allows us to focus our efforts on our number one priority with recertification of laguna honda so that it can continue or resume its enrollment in the medicare and medicaid programs. >> the facility serves more than 600 people. during the extension transfers and discharges will remain on hold. new emissions has been paused since january. the facility lost its certification after failing to name standards of care under federal regulations. >> back to that breaking news in
