solano county until 8:00 p.m. friday. temperatures in the bay area expected to get up into the mid-100's, but in places like solano county come up to 110 degrees. it is going to be a summer scorcher. walnut creek at 100 degrees. keep hydrated and make sure you find the ac and stay out of the sun if you do not have ac. do not leave people and pets inside vehicles. i will be back to let you know when you will get a break from the hot weather. dan: thanks a lot. now to the fire that forced some evacuations this afternoon. it started near eden canyon. the flames raced dangerously to some homes near dublin before firefighters were able to get control of it. at last check it burned more

than 50 acres. tim johns is alive. a close call for residents there. tim: those evacuation orders were lifted around 730 this evening, and folks were allowed to come back into their homes. we spoke to one woman who tells us that despite those orders, she decided to stay in the neighborhood. that fire line coming right to the edge of her home. a call a little too close to home for chia-mei lee. this was after a brush fire broke out nearby. >> i was in shock. i am terrified, but i am ok. tim: her neighborhood came under and infected ration order after a car caught on fire on 580 and lane started spreading uphill -- flames started spreading uphill. she initially thought a plane

might have crashed. >> the police knocked on my door and said you need to get out of your house. tim: no homes suffered serious damage. derek steel -- darren steele says that even though he was not evacuated, the experience was nerve-racking. >> i noticed the smoke and in 15 minutes, it was engulfed. tim: calfire says the fire was maintained because of the brush that was well maintained in the area. residents here say they are thankful to the fire crews for a job relevant then -- a job well done. >> they took care of it and they did an excellent job. tim: as you can see behind me, there are still some fire crews unseen. there expected to be here for a little while longer.

tim johns, abc 7 news. dan: a wildfire near coal flexes in placer county was triggered. this started 5:00 today, like the other fire where tim is. a big rig crashed and caught fire. fire right now is at 15 acres with zero containment. calfire says firefighting aircraft are making good progress against the flames. you can track any of the wildfires on california by using our online interactive wildfire tracker. you'll find that at abc7news.com . ama: a trip to the bay area at the end of june turned into a nightmare for one couple. they got legionnaires' disease following a brief stay at aloft hotel in san jose. abc 7 news reporter amanda del castillo of spoke to the couple about what they went through. amanda: dan and rita miles

recently made a trip to san jose. meant to be a sendoff their youngest daughter and their family moving out of state. >> we stayed at the hotel nearby your house, and we used the pool. amanda: days later, the couple's call to 911 lend them to the hospital and they were diagnosed with legionnaires' disease. they have been dealing with upset stomach, fever, and more. symptoms they thought were linked food poisoning. dan was also struggling to breathe. >> i thought that i was just really tired and this will pass. frankly, i don't remember. amanda: readout was hospitalized for five days. according to the couple, and spray revealed that dan's lungs were completely wiped -- an

x-ray revealed that dan's lungs were completely wiped. >> it is just bacteria that grows in your lungs. amanda: the couple's daughters immediately thoughts back to that visit. they reached out to the loft hotel and the county has since tested the pool and hot tub. they said a sample connected -- gathered from the pool detected legionella. disinfectants are needed to reduce the risk of spreading germs like legionella. moving forward, rita plans to pack chlorine testing strips in her suitcase. >> you have to have records you and you have to maintain them. amanda: no one from the hotel has responded to our request for comment. ama: san francisco has the most

monkeypox cases in the bay area cases.ore than 500 confirmed the only other countries with more than 50 cases are alameda and set the rita counties. availability of the monkeypox vaccine is about to double in san francisco. the public health director today said that the doses will double at zuckerberg general hospital in san francisco. while lines for the vaccine have started to die down, demand remains high. >> we are doing better. we are giving about the same amount on average, the same amount of vaccine a day because we have improved our processes. we have taken information from the community and people being served how to make the vaccine better. ama: san francisco's public health director says last week's allotment of 10,000 from the federal supply should last

through thursday. dan: doctors in france think a dog got the monkeypox virus from a human. j.r. stone spoke with doctors to get a better understanding of how the science behind this kind of infection could happen. >> it is not too surprising. j.r.: doctors from around the world reacting to news that a dog contracted monkeypox from a person in france. >> dog slept in their bed and got 12 of these after. j.r.: that dog sleeping in the bed of two men who got monkeypox and were not exclusive with each other. >> they are recognizing that these other animals that we share our lives and homes with can potentially infected with human pathogens. we should take similar sorts of precautions that we would with our human loved ones as well. j.r.: the cdc says if you get

monkeypox, avoid contact with animals, including your pets. the ceo of san francisco's general hospital was asked about this monday, but the focus right now is helping people who are most at risk. >> there might be isolated cases in other populations, but we are looking at the vast majority of people where cases are occurring. those are the groups we are trying to get for care. j.r.: the cdc says if a pet has been exposed to monkeypox, they should be kept away from other animals and people for 21 days. >> those of us who love pets and want to take care of them, it behooves us to not have close physical contact with them. these skin lesions have dried up and crusted over where they are not contagion -- contagious anymore. j.r.: if you fear that your pet has monkeypox, contact your vet so they can decide the next steps and if a test is needed. j.r. stone, abc 7 news.

dan: striking kaiser permanente mental health workers will be in front of the bay area tomorrow. they will strike indefinitely and will be picketing tomorrow with medical centers santa clara, oakland, and santa rosa. nearly 2000 are staging pickets from san francisco to sacramento. ama: apple employees will have to return to the office three days a week. a memo today from ceo tim cook requires them to come in on tuesday and thursday, and another day determined by team managers. the schedules would be adjusted if needed. the system would preserve in person collaboration. apple had previously delayed return to office due to covid searches. dan: the age of some of the

inspired by strength and lots of water. dan:t bay, and effort is underway to clear out a massive homeless encampment. the city of oakland resumed waeanup work underhe80 and a fire at the site in april killed one person, which brought to light safety concerns there. the city's cleanup is separate from caltrans' attempt to clean up the encampment. oakland attempts to set up 50 emergency housing centers. ama: an assault and robbery with to an arrest in a robbery against an elderly asian woman. luz pena questioned chief scott and d a brooke jenkins about their plan to prevent more crimes like this. reporter: this elderly woman was

attacked by multiple suspects inside her apartment complex. those suspects have been identified. >> 18-year-old oakland resident darryl moore and three other suspects ages 11, 13, and 14. luz: the 15-year-old still has to be arrested and the 11-year-old cannot be arrested due to his hp it the charges include false imprisonment and conspiracy. offices are pointing to this arrest as >> a sign of justice. > we have seen a continued wave of these despicable attacks and we know that they are not isolated incidents. luz: we spoke to lieutenant kevin healy who says this video was key to identifying the

suspects and confirmed the 18-year-old is known by many law enforcement officers. >> i can tell you the investigation, alameda county juvenile probation, and definitely sfpd officers are the ones that are out there working every day and they're the ones who identify the suspects in this case. luz: san francisco's new district attorney had strong thoughts on prosecuting the suspects. >> i commend to the san francisco police department for solving this so quickly. luz: what are the plants since three of them are minors? you said that we will take it from here, so what does that look like with the minors in this case? >> 18-year-old will have his charges filed in adult court. the juveniles will proceed through the juvenile system. with the 11-year-old, that is going to be a community issue

because he is too young to be charged with a crime. luz: there's also the question of this attack being a hate crime. as it stands now, this is not considered a hate crime. i did -- i asked district attorney jenkins who said they would need to have proof of hate speech and looking into social media accounts and interactions. luz pena, abc 7 news. dan: in livermore, residents got a chance to fill up on recycled water for landscaping. it is an effort to save water during this drought. recycled water is available for free. the goal is for people to use this water for things like planting and irrigation so they do not use water from the tap. >> it is not so much the money, just having available water. i would probably do a thousand gallons a week. dan: the free fill station will

sunset, the six rivers fire up to the north around humboldt and trinity county sending us some of that smoke. we also had the hot weather that led to the declining air quality. the air district has issued a spare alert for tomorrow. we are looking at moderate to poor air quality due to the hot weather and the smoke. air quality right now is good to moderates, but to the north, it is hazardous around the fire that is burning and the smoke from that fire is going to move in our direction due to the northerly winds. tomorrow, expect more haze in the atmosphere, especially to the northern part of our viewing area. high-pressure continues to dominate the weather. we will continue to see the summer heat and experience the heat tomorrow. there is a little fog near the coast, which helps out the coastal locations. temperatures right anywhere from the 50's to the 70's inland.
