temperatures inland especially. lot of cities will exceed 100 degrees. this is the tan cam this morning. you can see that poor air quality out there. lot of haze in our atmosphere. temperatures quickly warming by lunchtime. 80's and around the bay shore line. heat advisory begins at 11:00 a.m. for all areas shaded in orange. we'll look at ways to beat the heat coming up. kumasi: we're going so start with new developments in the search of former president trump's florida home. we know there's a push to release more information about how the search warrant was obtained. the fbi is confirming agents took his passports during the search. reporter: the justice department is fighting in court to keep the affidavit sealed. investigators say it includes information that could harm their investigation if it's made public. including witness information and details that have national

security implications. the court battle comes as investigators tried to figure out if the documents taken from mar-a-lago contained national security secrets. the investigation could include fingerprint analysis. >> trying to figure out who knew what, when or had access to what when. reporter: trump took to social media yesterday to accuse fbi agents of stealing his passports. he has three. an expired one, a regular passport. the justice department said it's an error and have returned those. leaders said the senate intelligence committee are asking for secure access to the seized documents and an assessment of potential risks to national security as a result of their mishandling. reggie: thank you. first in north bay, now we're hearing about legionnaire's disease happened in the south bay. a couple from long beach

contracted the sickness after staying at the aloft hotel. days later they started experiencing exhaustion, upset stomach, fevers and difficulty breathing. >> i resisted going to the e.r. room thinking that i'm just really tired. this will pass. quiet frankly, i don't remember. reggie: both dan and rita miles were hospitalized. four of which he was on a ventilator. they trace the bacteria to a hot tub at the hotel. their investigation revealed zero chlorine in the water. abc 7 news reached out to the aloft but we have not heard back. kumasi: striking kaiser permanente will be picketing today. they walkerred off the job

yesterday demanding kaiser hire more therapists. they will be picketing at medical centers in santa clara, oakland and santa rosa today. kaiser say of says they are still able to meet the needs of parents. reggie: dublin residents are back after a brush fire. it happened near i-580 after a car caught fire. for one resident, the flames hit too close to home. >> i was kind of shocked. i'm terrified. but i'm okay. >> the policeman knocked on he door. you need to get out of your house. reggie: firefighters quickly contained the flames. they credit well maintained vegetation in the area. no homes experienced severe damage. firefighters in placer county are dealing with spot fires as they work a fire burning along

interstate 80 and colfax. a big rig crashed and caught fire yesterday. flames spread to the nearby brush. that fire burned nearly 17 acres so far. you can track these wildfires in california by using our online interactive wildfire tracker. it shows current air quality. find it at abc7news.com. kumasi: happening now, a heat advisory are in effect as high temperatures are expected to hit the bay area. inland cities could see triple digits as high as 106 degrees today. abc 7 news reporter ryan is more on this. reporter: you can tell it is feeling a little bit warmer than what it usually is for this time in the morning. we can expect those temperatures just to keep rising as this day goes on. i know drew mentioning it all morning long. tuck feel that here in the east

bay, especially today will be a hot one. taking those precautions will be necessary as you go about your day. what will this exactly mean? it does mean that you can expect today to have some really hazy looking skies mixed with some really hot air. the bay area air quality management district -- this means they want you to limit driving as much as possible. that limits the amount of pollution you're adding to the air. air quality in the east bay looking in the moderate zone with expected to rise up to the unhealthy air quality region. some of that wildfire smoke coming from up north down to the bay area, mixing with that hot air. it will be a pretty hazy and not so good day when it comes to talking about the air quality. when we talk about this rise of that potential unhealthy level they are advising people if you

square. they say the city lack enough secure emergency housing. they also accuse law enforcement taking or destroying people's belongings. organizers want an immediate action plan. reggie: today house speaker nancy pelosi is hosting a townhall to respond to the calls of the monkeypox outbreak. san francisco does have the most monkeypox cases in the bay area with more than 500 confirmed cases. nearly 2000 cases have been reported across the state. kumasi: getting a monkeypox vaccine is about to get easier in san francisco. the vaccine clinic is expanding its hours today and tomorrow. it's now going to run from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. lines for the vaccine has started to die down, the demand is high. the clinic averages 600 to 700 shots a day. >> we are doing better.

we are giving about the same amount of vaccine a day here because we have improved our processes. we've taken information from the community and the people who are being served at this clinic about how to get vaccines. kumasi: officials say doses from last week's allotment of 10,000 doses from the federal supply should last through thursday. they will update the public on future clinics once they get the next shipment. reggie: doctors in france believe a dog contracted the monkeypox virus from a human. that dog had slept in bed alongside two men who tested positive. the doctor says 12 days late, the dog not infected. the cdc says if you have monkeypox, you should avoid contact with animals including your pets. >> recognizing that these other animals that we share our lives and our homes with, can potentially be infected with human pathogens. it means we should take similar sorts of precautions that we would with our human love ones

as well. reggie: the cdc says that if a pet has been exposed to monkeypox, they should be kept away from other animals and people for 21 days. they say if you do fear your pet may have monkeypox it's important to contact the vet and get that pet tested. we have everything you need to know about monkeypox including vaccines at abc7news.com. kumasi: santa clara county doctor will be deposed involving two lawsuits. calvary chapel throughouted lockdown rules and racked up nearly $3 million in fines. one lawsuit the county trying to force the church to pay those fines and the other the church is challenging that covid restrictions. dr. cody is w. of the first health officials in the country to order lockdowns. reggie: peloton may start asking users to build their own bikes.

atmosphere. we have a spare of the air day for poor air quality in lot of spots today. big takeaway, it is a hot afternoon for lot of us inland. it's dangerously hot over 100 degrees today. around the bay shoreline, we're going into the 80's. along the coast, upper 60's to low 70's. we'll have a heat advisory beginning at 11:00 a.m. for all areas shaded in orange on your screen. for some of the hottest temperatures later on this afternoon. we'll look at those numbers coming up in eight minutes. reggie: that comes with a spare of the air alert in effect in the bay area. air quality is expected to be in the unhealthy range as temps could reach higher than 100 degrees in some areas. let's go to abc 7 news reporter ryan curry who's in walnut creek. reporter: good morning. having grown up in this area, there were days in the summer where you would wake up, you go outside. you can tell that day ahead was going to be a hot one. this day, has that same feel to

it. you can tell with the way the air is now and the temperature, it's going to be a hot one. we need to prepare for it. what does this mean if you're in the east bay, especially now. it means you could expect to see some very hot weather and very still air. there is a spare the air alert in effect now. given the fact that we're going to be potentially seeing some unhealthy air quality ranges in this part of the area. especially if you're in the east bay. some of that smoke from the wildfire up north will be coming down here to the bay area. if you mix that with the hot weather we're expected to see today, it will be a very hot and hazy day. already the air quality is in the moderate zone for this region. it is climbing. officials at the bay area air quality management say, people should avoid driving if they have to. that way it will reduce the pollution that's going on right now in the atmosphere. those hazy skies expected to see again today. that way, you can avoid adding to those hazy skies if you are in this region.

it is going to be a very bad day in terms of the air quality. if you have some sort of precondition respiratory illness, they advise that you just stay inside today and try to avoid any sort of rigorous activity if you going on outside. it is going to be a not so good day in terms of the air quality. even if you're not, it is going to be hot. we're expecting temperatures getting over the triple digit mark. staying hydrated and taking those extra precautions will be advised talking about this hot weather weather. ryan curry, abc 7 news. kumasi: the u.s. could be in for a tomato sauce shortage and climate change is to blame. according to report by bloomberg, historic droughts are making it really hard for farmers to grow tomatoes. that's leading to a smaller supply of tomatoes for things like sauces and ketchup. california grows a quarter of the world's tomatoes and decline could result in noticeable spike in prices.

reggie: in livermore residents are filling up on recycled water. it's an effort to save water. a station opened at the livermore on jacqueline and boulevard. recycled water is available for free. the goal is for people to use this water for things like planting and irrigation so they don't go to the tap. >> it's not so much the money. it's just having the available water. i probably do a thousand gallons a week. reggie: the free fill station will be open on weekdays through october 1st. kumasi: the bay area and much of california is getting a wakeup call from scientists that the next climate crises is going to be mega floods. they are talking about major storms that last for weeks and that will put many cities and critical infrastructure under water. san francisco bay and everything near it is at risk. daniel swain co-authored a study at ucla's institute of the environment and sustainability. he said flood risks increases >> i thi the highest king

tides you seen and add a foot or two on top of that and then add an additional increment of flooding risk coming from all the water that will be rushing down from the hills from the rainfall. you'd see a significant amount of flooding on the bay shore. kumasi: it's hard to pinpoint the exact timing. scientists say a decade of severe floods is expected to happen some time in the next 30 years. swain says the focus of future studies will be to figure out how much it will cost to prepare for the crises. reggie: your voice your vote. it's primary day in alaska and wyoming where incumbents are fighting to keep their job. congresswoman liz cheney is set to lose her seat. >> reporter: former president trump is expected to achieve his biggest political victory since losing the white house. liz cheney is expected to be

defeated. she was one of ten house republicans who voted to impeach trump. she's vice chair on the committee on the eve of the election, many republicans in wyoming branded her a trader. she spoke to abc news about her decision earlier this year. >> i think the single most important thing is protecting the nation from donald trump. i think that matters to us as americans more than anything else. reporter: some democrats in wyoming switched their political party registration so they could vote for cheney as a last ditch effort to keep her in office. in alaska, senator lisa murkowski is facing a trump-backed challenger. both are expected to be on the november ballot because the top four candidates today advance to the main election. reggie: looking ahead to the november midterms, abortion rights are expected to be a key focus for voters. at least four states are launching ballot efforts to further restrict abortion rights.

indiana lawmakers were the first in the nation to pass a bill restricting access to abortion since the u.s. supreme court overturned roe v. wade. kansas was the first state to give the voters a chance to weigh in. >> democrats think this can happen in kansas, it can happen anywhere. the country is in favor of some access to abortion. reggie: california, kentucky, montana, vermont, michigan and colorado may also add ballot initiatives to november's ballot. kumasi: happening told, president biden will sign his $750 billion inflation reduction act into law. it includes clean energy funding, its as on the super rich and healthcare access for millions of americans. the bill will be signed during a small ceremony at the white house today. the president is returning from a trip early to do it. there will be aceateptember 6th along with a cross country campaign to promote how the bill will benefit americans.

positive for covid-19. her press secretary says she started having minor symptoms last night and tested positive thisorning. d paxlovid and isolate for five days. she's fully vaccinated and double boosted. she was on a trip to south carolina at the time and will be staying there until she test negative two times. president biden tested negative and he's recovered from a covid-19 infection. reggie: three people including two minors have been arrested for the violent robbery of a 70-year-old asian woman in san francisco. officers still looking for a fourth suspect who is also a juvenile. you can see the victim in the surveillance video. she was beaten and robbed in her apartment complex on francisco street july 31st. the video helped police identify one of the suspects 18-year-old darrell moore. he's known by police in several cities. another suspect is 13 years old. a 14-year-old is still wanted. the youngest suspect arrested is

just 11 years old. the charges include robbery, elder abuse, burglary and false imprisonment. >> we've seen continue wave of these horrible attacks. we know that they are not isolated incidents. reggie: the 18-year-old suspect will be charged as an adult. the others will be processed through the juvenile justice system. as for the 11-year-old, he may be too young to be charged with a crime. kumasi: a san francisco hospital can keep its doors open a little bit longer thanks to -- to a federal extension. >> we see this as a good thing. it allows us to really focus our effort on our number one priority, which is recertification so it can continue to be -- it can resume its enrollment in the medicare, medicaid programs. kumasi: the nursing home serves more than 600 people during the extension, transfers and discharges of current residents

will remain on hold. new admissions have been paused since january. the facility lost its certification in april after failing to meet standards of care under federal regulations. tonight in daly city, councilmembers will be holding a townhall to discuss the company that owns seton medical center. nurses passed a vote for no confidence for the hospital administrators. nurses are calling for a investigation into revenue and spending. seton issued a statement saying they were working to hire more staff and they pledged to improve infrastructure at the hospital. reggie: now for your morning money report, american airlines are splashing thousands of flights. from the november schedule. according to data, they scaled back 31,000 flights or 16% of its planned trips. officials from the airline tells cnn, it's a proactive adjustment to make sure they have enough staff for the flight schedule.
