conditions through the day. it is a hot day inland. kumasi: turning to education. it is back-to-school day for many students, but this is coming as the district itself is scrambling to fill hundreds of open teaching positions. the are live with what is being done to fill these vacancies. reporter: it has been difficult for san francisco to fill these positions. this is an issue that many other districts are dealing with, but san francisco unified has hundreds of positions that they want to fill, and they want to fill them as soon as possible. they have around 400 positions listed. around 100 of them are teacher openings.

many factors are causing this, such as the pandemic, the pay and how to live in san francisco when the rent is so expensive. that is an issue when it comes to recruitment of these teachers. tied b positis ncies. >> we developed a plan in which they can job share. they can continue to do the job that they were hired to do and they can cover a classroom in a job sharing situation. reporter: for some of these positions, they are not requiring a teaching credential. all you need to do is complete a certain amount of college credits to get hired, and then the district can help you with the credentials process. they want to get 100 teachers hired as soon as possible. even with classes and students returning today.

justice. a musician says he was profiled at a local restaurant. he took to instagram live to talk about his experience. he said after paying his bill, the manager followed him to his car and asked if he had taken care of his server. he says he thinks the man was trying to insinuate that he did not leave a tip. >> showed so much lack of respect for me and all of us that ate at the restaurant. i do not think he would do that to a white person. kumasi: butler says he did pay and he left a generous tip. the restaurant left a message on his instagram saying that the incident should not have ever happened and that the manager is on temporary leave. he reached out to do's and a gander, the restaurant involved in this, for further comment but did not receive a response. reggie: if you want a monkeypox

reggie: they could be a new development on a years long battle. according to our media partner, the 49ers are offering to settle the lawsuit for $3.3 million. the lawsuit stems from the decision by the city not to allow the team to manage non-nfl events. onto the agreement, they would still be allowed to manage all events at the city. an employee has been arrested for stealing a passenger's bag. the bag's owner says she had about $1600 worth of belongings in the bag. she checked into the airport in destin but instead of flying with her, they tracked the bag about 11 miles from the airport. it led them to the 19-year-old

live doppler 7 is tracking this monsoonal moisture moving through right now. the focus of any of the showers, you can see 280 along the peninsula with your windshield my prayers needed for a few minutes or so. any showers could come with a lightning strike. we have fog along the coast and it is a beautiful sunrise. gorgeous color on the screen. the best chance of finding thunder is this afternoon. we will track the showers for you in about eight minutes. reggie: famously in san francisco, there are more dogs than kids. kids are heading back to class and the district is still struggling to find enough teachers. ryan is live with how the

district is trying to fill those spots. reporter: it will take serious levels of recruitment to get some of these positions hired and hired fast. school does class today. they face a good amount of challenges when it comes to getting these positions hired. to some of those issues include the pandemic, pay and how to live in san francisco when the rent is so expensive. all of these things are making it difficult to hire for these positions. other school districts also have to go through this. there is some competition on who to hire. they have it programmed where you do not need a teaching credential to start in certain positions. they just need a few college credits.

the teachers union thinks that this has nothing to do with the shortage of teachers but a lot to do with not paying them enough. >> we do not have a shortage of teachers. there are a lot of qualified educators in the bay area, in this country. what we have is a crisis of professional pay. reporter: principles and the districts say they are losing teachers across the state. some are leaving last minute, which is difficult, given the fact that school resumes today. they say they want to hire at least 100 teachers as soon as possible. kumasi: this morning, president into law. this will impact every american.

reggie: the fbi has arrested tj cox. he represented the fresno area and was indicted on 28 crimes regarding multiple fraud schemes and creating unauthorized, off the books bank accounts. some charges include federal money laundering and fraud charges regarding campaign donations. he could face up to 20 years in prison and 30 years for the charges of financial institution fraud. kumasi: the first husband of pap -- pop icon britney spears is said to be arraigned. there was an arrest warrant issued in 2016. bail was set at at $20 million. alexander was married to britney spears for less than three days

even into the east bay, another light shower. really isolated in nature. this is moving into napa this morning. so far, we have not seen any lightning strikes, but the threat is certainly with ice as the moisture moves through the rest of today. another batch of moisture is on its way. this will likely move into our neighborhood for this afternoon for a chance of lightning strikes again. a lot of cloud cover up -- out there. a peppering of showers. we will likely keep the cloud cover and another chance of isolated showers moving through. there is a red flag warning in effect for much of california. it is hot in the 90's. that is the weather.
