plant for months. now ukraine and russia accuse each other of plotting to attack the facility and russia reportedly told workers to stay home today. >> i'm not in a position to speak to what russia may or may not be planning, but these types of statements including some of what we've heard from russian officials are cause for concern. >> reporter: ukrainian president zelenskyy writing on twitter, "the world is on the verge of a nuclear disaster. how long will it take the global community to respond to russia's irresponsible actions and nuclear blackmailing?" local volunteers tell abc news they're secretly providing vital medicine to plant workers including anti-radiation medicine. >> it's iodine. and these guys gather it up, they send it across the border in case there is a radioactive leak. >> reporter: during a meeting with the u.n. secretary-general in ukraine zelenskyy called on the u.n. to ensure the demilitarization of the power plant, a move russia claims will make the plant more vulnerable.

>> any actions that might -- >> to help stabilize the situation the director of the international atomic energy agency is calling for the group to be allowed into the plant. also breaking overnight in florida, a mother has died hours after she was struck by lightning while waiting for her child to get out of school. police say a group of people were in a parking area near an elementary school in winter springs when a lightning bolt hit a tree, energizing the ground nearby. two women and a child were rushed to the hospital. authorities now say one of the women has died. and breaking news. in the crisis at the border. border patrol released a picture overnight showing 150 people packed into a truck's trailer. authorities found the 18-wheeler on the mexican side of the border. it's unclear if any arrests were made. the discovery comes two months after 53 migrants died in a sweltering trailer found in san antonio, texas. yesterday border officials announced the u.s. is nearing a

record-breaking 2 million migrant encounters along the border this year. now to the mid-air collision in california. authorities are trying to determine how two planes hit each other as both pilots were apparently trying to land at an airport. it comes as new video shows debris falling from the sky after the collision. this morning tragedy in the sky above california where two small planes collided mid-air. >> we heard there was a crash at watsonville just now. >> one cessna and a single engine cessna. it looks like both of them are down. >> reporter: investigators say it appears both wildcats r pilots were attempting to land at watsonville municipal area, about 100 miles south of san francisco. footage from security cameras in the area shows debris raining down and moments later a fireball can be seen as one of the planes crashes into the airport. a plume of thick black smoke rising into the air. air traffic audio captured a pilot who witnessed the collision.

>> seemed like they crashed into each other. >> yeah. the twin cessna was on a long final approach and somebody else was on base turning final. and the final approach, the twin engine cessna didn't see them and he crashed into him. >> reporter: according to another witness, one plane was on its final approach when another aircraft came out of nowhere. >> it was almost as if the faster plane had gone right through the smaller plane. the smaller plane immediately came apart. one of the wings came off. and it just tumbled end over end. it was almost like a missile hitting another plane. >> images from the scene show the wreckage of one plane on the airport's ground. the other plane barreled into a nearby hangar. according to the faa, two people were on board one plane and a pilot on board the other. it's unclear if anyone survived. the city-owned airport does not have a control tower. pilots rely on each other to direct landing and takeoff. the mayor of watsonville saying

in a statement, "we are grieving tonight from this unexpected and sudden loss. i want to express my deepest and most heartfelt condolences." no one on the ground was injured. the faa and the ntsb are now investigating the crash. next, the legal battle sparked by the fbi's search of former president trump's florida estate. a judge is hinting at possibly unsealing a redacted version of the affidavit used to justify the search in the first place. abc's faith abubey is in washington with those details. good morning, faith. >> reporter: good morning to you, mona. former president donald trump has called for the full document unredacted to be released. but in court yesterday his attorneys made no moves to call for the judge to do just that. this morning the justice department under a court order to quickly propose redactions of the probable cause affidavit used to search former president donald trump's florida estate. the magistrate judge who approved the search warrant saying he's leaning toward the public seeing the written justifications for the

unprecedented move. judge bruce reinhart adding "i am not prepared to find that the affidavit should be fully sealed." >> he understands that the public is going to likely be entitled to some parts of this warrant application and its affidavit. >> reporter: the judge's willingness to potentially unseal a redacted version of the search affidavit coming after lawyers for news organizations including abc news argued the sensitive documents should be released because "transparency serves the public interest in understanding and accepting the results." trump's lawyers also inside the courtroom thursday but taking no action to support the release despite trump saying on social media he wants the full unredacted version unsealed. the justice department, at least for now, wants the affidavit to remain secret, claiming that publicly releasing the sensitive documents at this point could jeopardize its criminal investigation. since the fbi court authorized search last week angry trump supporters have called for violence against federal investigators. and now doj lawyers say they're

very concerned about the safety of the witnesses. the lawyers adding that a redacted version of the affidavit would be so heavily blacked out "there would be nothing of substance left." >> it is not the government's job to tell the public what is meaningful in terms of the release of its own information. >> reporter: the justice department has until next thursday to file its proposed redactions. and then the judge will decide whether to unseal the affidavit. mona? >> thank you. the long-time top money man at the trump organization is free on bail this morning. allen weisselberg pleaded guilty to 15 criminal counts including tax fraud and grand larceny. his plea deal requires him to testify against trump's company but not against the former company. >> but loyal to the end, weisselberg decided he would rather spend five months in prison rather than turn on his boss and members of the trump family. his plea agreement does not require him to help the manhattan district attorney's

office in the broader criminal investigation of trump himself. >> weisselberg will be formally sentenced after his testimony against trump's company. he also must pay nearly $2 million in taxes, fines and interest. three inmates have been indicted in the prison beating death of mobster james "whitey" bulger. bulger was serving two life sentences when he was attacked in west virginia in a prison in 201. surveillance video showed him being steered out of view in his wheelchair before being killed. one of the men charged in bulger's death was sevening time for being an enforcer in the mafia. it is time now for a look at your friday morning weather. the southwest monsoon storms are ramping up. flood watches in arizona and new mexico, which have received 800% of their normal rainfall. the threat of flash flooding stretches into utah and colorado in the next few days. meanwhile, half of the northeast is abnormally dry or in a drought. the worst is in new england,

back with an suv driven into a boston-area mall. authorities say a 78-year-old woman was behind the wheel. video shared by police shows the vehicle on the second floor of a mall in braintree after she'd driven 200 feet inside. fortunately, no one was hurt. oysters are of course

considered a delicacy, but now the cdc is warning about the shellfish being a potential danger. after two people died from eating raw oysters. abc's christine sloan has the story. >> reporter: oysters, considered a delicacy with their briny flavor and chewy texture. but an alert this morning after two people in florida recently died of a rare bacterial infection linked to eating raw oysters. one of the victims, 55-year-old rodney jackson of pensacola. an air force veteran, father and former banker who helped minority businesses. >> we don't know how we're going to do it without rodney. it's going to be very hard. >> reporter: jackson, who got his oysters from a seafood market, reportedly first had mild symptoms but then had trouble breathing. and in south florida another man got sick and died after eating raw oysters in july at the rustic inn crabhouse in fort lauderdale. the manager saying on that day as many as 100 dozen oysters

were served. health officials say raw oysters can contain dibreo bacteria, found in warm seawater, especially during the summer months, which causes viberosis. the cdc says each year 80,000 people get vibrosis and about 100 die from the infection. symptoms include diarrhea and vomiting. but it can cause more severe problems. this year in florida alone 26 people have become infected. six people have died. >> vibrio can be fatal and people die from vibrio in the u.s. both from eating raw oysters if their immune system is compromised or even from getting cuts being in water that has vibrio in it. >> reporter: the cdc points out that an oyster that contains this dangerous bacteria doesn't look, smell, or even taste any different from any other oyster. the only way to kill possible bacteria is to fully cook oysters.
