the santa clara county fairgrounds friday morning after hearing that vaccine appointments were now available. so that's he told me i said, i'm gonna get it right away santa clara county says it's been able to expand appointments to people like victor because of a new method before the vaccines were being injected subcutaneously or under the skin now, they're being injected intradermally just under the top layer of skin. connie health experts say this method helps stretch the vaccine supply only one fifth as much of the dose is used for that intradermal injection compared to the full dose that was used before this was approved by the fda based on a study that was done a few years ago, dr. jennifer tong says the fda studies showed the immune response was just as strong with the new administration method now aside from the efficacy of this new method one other question was how much does this hurt? well, victor tells us wasn't any more or less painful than a typical vaccine, but it was different you put that being it and then see the effect of the

requirements starting today. it all happened after this video surfaced that showed a four year old boy being removed from class for failing to keep his mask on his father says the boy has developed mental issues yesterday the mountain view wiseman school district changed its mask mandate from a requirement to a recommendation this morning about half the kids were wearing masks. i'm happy that it's gone, but i didn't have a problem with it being there. so we are keeping it just to be safe, but it's up to individual to decide. now the school district says it didn't drop its mandate because of the video it cited health data that shows it is safer to be without a mask indoors. richmond police have arrested four juveniles in connection to vandalism at four east bay schools three schools in richmond and one in san pablo discovered extensive property damage over two consecutive weekends in july, some schools were facing difficult budget deficits before the string of break-ins the names of the juveniles will not be released police are searching for more

individuals who could be involved. today, we are learning new details about yesterday's deadly crash at watsonville municipal airport when two small plains collided abc 7 news reporter dustin dorsey was there when federal investigators gave an update today and he joins us live dustin, you know as this airport just reopened today the federal investigators that are going to be on here and today from the ntsb are just really diving into a lot of the details from that deadly crash and what we do know at this point, is that this plane and one more along with it two planes. everyone on board was killed in that crash sadly. flowers left behind others on hand to pay their respects after two planes crashed into each other mid-air at the watsonville municipal airport thursday afternoon, the national transportation safety board confirmed today, there were no survivors two people and one dog were aboard one of the planes

and one person was flying the other this couple told us they knew the pilot of the smaller aircraft. a like the entire community warning the losses anytime that there's an accident or there's a concern whether it's a loss of life, which is the most serious or someone has a flat tire in on the ramp. it's a small community and there are people here that certainly are grieving. oh my god. this video shared with us from a neighbor shows the smoky and fiery scenes just after the accident the ntsb was only able to provide a few details as the investigation continues. this is a busier small airport. that does not have a traffic control tower. the airport is uncontrolled airport. there is no tower here and the aircraft people in traffic pattern will communicate through the common traffic advisory frequency. we are working to get the radio communications that we're occurring at that day pilots. we spoke with nearby the airport as well as aviation news talk podcast host max trescott told us the pilots were in

communication through the common traffic advisory frequency or ctaf just before the crash trescott says he's done investigation into the accident and said the bigger aircraft was coming into land much faster than it should have been and only began to communicate with the other pilot involved about a mile away from the airport. he adds the smaller plane did not have the transponder turn on which allows other pilots to see the craft on their displays. these were contributing factors in trescott's opinion, but he thinks a tower could have also helped at a time here for the controller would have given instructions to the twin which was flying extremely fast this slow down long before it reached the airport that didn't happen the fact this twin was going extremely fast didn't get noted apparently by its pilot or the other planes that were in the traffic pattern while trescott said both pilots communicated through ctaf. they aren't legally required to do so most pilots at so-called uncontrolled airports choose to use ctaf because it's safer when asked about the tower airport director ravon williams told us today. the airport doesn't have the volume of traffic to support the

loose peña spoke to a resident who has had two rent increases in less than six months. said this is our last resort. every year this resident who did not want to be identified by name has been getting a 10% rent increase but this year she says it was different. it was crazy. she got a $500 rent increase in less than six months. i got almost a 43% increase. can you afford that? even afford the 13 12 that i'm paying now a new rent bill is city of antioch at the highest eviction rate in the san francisco bay area deborah polk with east bay county regional group said, they're noticing a pattern of antioch residence reporting rent hikes after the state lifted the covid-19 eviction moratorium. we have so many people that have had their rents increase from you know, 300 dollars to $700 this group is now urging antioch city council members to intervene and vote on a rent

cap. there are so many loopholes and we're a general law city and so even though the state has conditions, i think that it is up to us as local leaders and local government to increase those protections councilmember. tamisha walker says she is on board, but they need the majority of the council to vote yes on put in a cap on rent increases at 60% of consumer price index or 3% antioch is one of the many cities in the bay area without rim protections rental renters have been struggling with harassment the ceo of the east bay rental housing association, which represents landlords across the region says putting a cap is not the solution that property owner isn't able to affect changes and modifications and repairs and things of that nature to the property. so i think that's one of the

unintended consequences in putting in an arbitrary cap like a 3% or some you know, or some portion of cpi in antioch loose pena abc 7 news. city and state officials are celebrating 3.5 million dollars in new funding for aapi senior facilities in san francisco's sunset district 2.3 million is for renovating the south sunset playground clubhouse. another 1.2 million is for building a new senior center on taraval street organizers. say both facilities will offer seniors nutritious meals exercise programs and safe spaces. we need to make sure we have safe spaces as you all know for the last couple years. we've been hearing about seniors getting attacked. we have one of the largest proportions and not of seniors of any district in the city. organizers say the fastest growing demographic in the city is seniors by 2030 nearly 1/3 of residents will be at least 60 years old and nearly half will

to early 1973. that's a bryant gave emotional testimony today in the trial of her federal lawsuit against los angeles county. she's suing over photos of the helicopter crash that killed her husband kobe daughter gia and seven others reporter. rob hayes from our sister station in los angeles takes us inside the courtroom. a morning full of tears, vanessa bryant breaking down several times as she took the stand today talking about the day her husband kobe bryant and daughter gigi died in that january 2020 helicopter crash bryant crying as she told jurors when the coroner returned their clothing. you can tell that they burned. bryant and chris chester whose wife and daughter were also killed in the crash are suing los angeles county for negligence and invasion of privacy after several members of the sheriffs and fire department took graphic photos of bodies at the scene then shared them they violated her taking advantage of the fact that her daddy couldn't protect her he was at the morgue brian said of her daughter whose

body wasn't recovered until a day after the crash bryant and chester declined to be part of a two and a half million dollar settlement the county reached with two other families involved in the crash the fear that gruesome photos of and daughter will pop up on the internet. brian says has led to panic attacks and left her emotionally drained. i want to remember my husband and daughter the way they were i don't ever want to see these photographs. i don't want my children to see them also on the stand today, la county sheriff alexander called by the county to explain why he granted amnesty to the deputies involved in taking and or sharing photos of the crash site via nuwave bus saying these photos can never see the light of day and deciding the department could more quickly staunch the spread of the pictures if the deputies involved were told they would not be disciplined if they erased all the photographs now even though this is a civil case federal prosecutors are showing some interest members of the
