down. >> oh, man. wow, weekend whit in the building. >> second hour love that. good morning, everyone. great to have you with us. we have a lot of news to get to we're following on this saturday morning. we begin with the tropical storm mornings as more than 10 million americans are under flood alerts. >> drought-stricken areas bracing for downpours. monsoon rains are going to slam the southwest. >> let's go back to cheryl scott from wls tracking it all for us. >> the monsoon rains are not letting up, into the day and tomorrow. feeding the moisture across the deep south. you can see the heavy rain coming down. this is a familiar scene that will continue to happen over the next 48 hours. that video from arizona where the water just turning those roadways into rivers. and notice what happens. here's a school bus that was bascally swept off the side of the road. thankfully everyone inside was safe, as crews rescued them.pwe arizona and new mexico.

flash flood warnings likely to be issued this weekend, as well. we're looking at slow-moving and heavy, intense rains that will allow for the flash flooding. but this flooding rain, it will combine with tropical moisture. this will impact the deep south to texas, and the rain shifting east as we go into the weekend. dallas, texas, you've been so dry. you're looking at 5 to 7-plus inches of rainfall over the next seven days. flooding to flash flooding will be a big threat in the coming days. we also have an update in the tropics, potential tropical cyclone 4 is in the gulf of mexico and could intense by a named storm today. it will continue to move inland and make landfall today. just gusty winds and rain in deep south texas. >> we'll be watching the rain into the week. turning to the latest from ukraine, and the dire warnings of a nuclear disaster. europe's largest nuclear power plant under threat. and international efforts to avert a catastrophe are ramping

up. let's go back to britt clennett who is on the ground in ukraine. good morning to you, britt. >> reporter: good morning, janai. fighting is raging on near europe's largest power plant. fears are growing that a disaster could break out. ukraine is warning that russia wants to disconnect the plant and redirect the power to its own. but russia now planning to cut off gas to europe again, for three days, putting pressure on european countries that really rely on that energy. french president emmanuel macron had a phone call with putin. they agreed to an independent inspection of the plant as soon as possible. but this as the situation at the plant looks more worrying by the day. we spoke to the mayor of where the plant is located. he said radiation levels are normal but internet lines are jammed making it hard to get

institute steps in. i'm joinedmoy rning. stephanie is with the veterans institute. and talk about this. i know that the veterans cause is close to your heart. >> it is. it's near and dear. i have a son who is serving in the army. he's a blackhawk pilot. we were talking last night about the veterans institute. and this amazing two-day forum is fabulous for not only veterans but also for companies to understand, how do you take your skills that you've learned and apply them into roles to give them a future in civilian life. we're really excited about offering this. not only for companies but for veterans. >> reporter: exactly. one things that employers may not know is how transferable the skills are in the civilian

world. >> absolutely. any company would love the leadership, you've been trained, the commitment, the loyalty and the technical skills they have. it's our job as a company to understand the technical skills. how do they interpret? if you maintain an aircraft carrier, you can probably maintain one of the beautiful attractions we have here in the magic kingdom. >> reporter: you have experience in helping get veterans hired. what is the key to that success? >> we have a year-round program, heros work here. you can go online. any veteran can go online. they can get access to the two-day forum year-round and see what it takes to take your skills and put it into a resume that can apply to a company. and really giving them resources and training tools to be able to make the resume really marketable for other companies. and we're training companies on how can you, in fact, embrace veterans and the skills they have. >> reporter: i'm moderating a panel later on today, speaking with businesses and telling how they can bring in veterans. after so many years in the military, i have to tell you, i'm still learning about programs that are out there. >> yeah. >> reporter: for veterans. and not just veterans that -- military service members that

are looking to leave the service but those that are straddling the civilian world and reservists. >> right. >> reporter: talk about that, how important it is for the resources to be out there. >> it's a big transition. it's important they tap into the resources. being able to understand what are the jobs that i can be very qualified for? and so, as a company, we are trying to -- actually, since we started this program, the veterans institute, we've hired 11,000 veterans. and it is because we want to walk them through the process of taking their technical skills into the work environment, into a civilian role. we think there's a great number of tools and resources. when they're onboard, getting them a community, meeting other veterans, being able to have a mentorship program that helps them to be successful with our company. >> reporter: that sense of community is so important because that's what they're leaving when they leave the military. >> right. >> reporter: thank you so much. >> thank you for having me. >> reporter: it's been wonderful to have you here.

and this is a difficult time of year for a lot of families to do their training because it's hectic, kids are going back to school. what are your top tips? >> as people get back into school, and kids start doing homework, sports come onboard, it's important to give your dog something to do so we're not yelling at them. the place command is the first thing i tell them. >> place command? you want them to go somewhere. >> go somewhere, relax, chew own a bone, we're doing homework. >> touch. no. touch. good. stay. the place command is just that area, go there and hang out for a little bit. >> got it. and does it have to be -- you said touch. does it matter what the word is? >> doesn't matter. it's more about consistency and how you say it. you can say orange peel, if i teach her, that's where she's going to go. >> the next thing is a crate. a lot of the foster puppies that we bring in, getting them to go into the crate, that can take a while to get them comfortable with it. >> the place command is if you're home. if you're going to go out, grab

a bite, whatever, you can easily transition. as you saw, lakota is, i'm going to go in there. get a leash and reward like this. crate. good, crate. and this is her reward. and you can pay her for that. >> whaagain, wrealut kid to sch milies eatg a you want to dif gtorate owh it's time to play. >> the break command or the free command is important. if we're going to tell our dogs you have to work and listen, we have to tell them how to break. when we're placing or we're crating or downing or whatever -- >> she didn't know which one to do? >> give me the ball. >> exactly. the break command is that. break. and she can have what she wants. it's important to give your dog that release command. >> excellent.

this is a neighborhood. residents were surprised to see this. that alligator working its way into the neighborhood gazebo. those are floodwaters. we need the rain across the north and east. and area of low pressure will be moving into new england as we go into this week. we're looking at pockets of 2 to 3 inches of rainfall. notice lesser amounts here in parts of new jersey and new england, where we do have extreme drought conditions across parts of massachusetts, rhode island and connecticut. that 1 inch of rain really not helpful. but we'll take what we can get. that's a look across the country and now a check of your local weather.
