moving forward finding solutions. this is c7 news a close call saturday night as a wildfire erupts right along the edge of clear lake forcing evacuations. good morning everybody. it's sunday august 21st. i'm lewis quartz. we're gonna have more on that wildfire in just a moment. but first, let's start with a quick look at the weather with meteorologist lisa arjun tracking that fire danger. good morning, lisa. good morning. liz a lot of dry fuel out there in yesterday those temperatures in lake county. well over 100 degrees today a cooldown on the way for everyone. there's a little feature offshore that's going to help us cool down just temporarily and then we're going to see another heat up for your monday there's a look at the fog. it's dense in the north bay from mount tam. you can see the breeze there at 2300 feet, but the sun coming up in 30 minutes 56 in the city. it's 59 in san jose and from a roof camera windsor up to 20 miles an hour here in san

francisco 63 by the delta. so although some numbers are warmer in the north bay. we have that breeze that will get stronger throughout the day you can see it by right now over 20 miles. an hour that is sutro. the fog is expanding. so noontime. we're in the 60s and 70s a slower warm-up cloudy coast sunshine breezy winds at the shoreline, but upper 80s for our warmest location. so that's a good 10 to maybe 15 degrees cooler inland today liz. okay, lisa. thank you back to that fire out of lake county where firefighters are still on the scene of a wildfire that triggered a vacuation orders last night the fire broke out around six o'clock west of lower lake a witness shared video of the water dropping helicopters. you can see there making one of many passes over the fire zone. cal fire says they've managed to stop forward progress of this fire. so that's some good news at last check. the fire has burned 14 acres and it's now 20% contained some residents near the fire zone are still being asked to stay away as fire crews work to put out

hot spots and back to back fire. skip san jose firefighters very busy asruis qcklysh fire around lunchtime yesterday downtown off hannah street and highway 280 the fire started in los gatos creek, but flames ran along a fence and ignited a woodworking shed and house hot weather complicated conditions firefighters who responded had just put out another fire not far away. they got back to station got their gear recent rechecked and then we're quickly dispatched this fire so they didn't have any break between two second alarm fires. you can see the heavy damage to the structures the cause of the fire still under investigation. there were no injuries reported new details this morning on the largest wildfire in california this year authorities have identified four victims of the mckinney fire all of them were 73 years old or older the victims were identified through dental records and dna as klamath river residents. one of them looked and worked as a fire lookout for the us forest service for decades the wildfire

in siskiyou county started last month. it's currently 95% contained. alright moving on now in the south bay this weekend wild side shows have been taking place over busy intersections one of them a person walking was hit and two cars crashed, but that still didn't stop the drivers from spinning donuts. yes, i'm pretty wild video there that dangerous scene unfolded last night at lundy avenue and concourse drive in san jose where it happened. it's one of several that broke out throughout the south bay police say everyone involved left when officers responded including the person who was hit by the car. meanwhile another side show broke out along santa teresa boulevard near highway 87, you can see just how close cars came to wiping out bystanders watching the action others stuck in the traffic. we're understandably pretty upset by this.

look for her, son who's addicted to fentanyl. it's not something i love to do. i live in marin and i have to fight my self up to come here. gina mcdonald co-founded the nonprofit a couple of years ago. this is her daughter sam before fentanyl. she too was on the streets of the tenderloin. yeah, nine months ago. she we got her out their personal stories and passion for change capturing the attention of those in power last week meeting with san francisco's district. attorney brooke jenkins. she listened and listen to our stories. and really was learning from us advocating for easier access to treatment and an end to the open-air drug market. we're very supportive of her efforts to crackdown on the dealing we haven't been seeing that the momentum and just the impact this group is having would you have ever imagined?

adults march to protect reproductive rights yesterday high school students from menlo park to pacifica rallied in san mateo to draw attention to the us supreme court decision that overturned roe versus wade the group urged voters to pass a constitutional amendment on the november ballot that would enshrine abortion access in the california constitution. nobody should choose for anybody else. it's really a very personal decision and i just felt like if it was happening to anybody even just one person. i would i feel like i have to change that. the california catholic conference is opposing the amendment saying the language is too broad state voters will decide on proposition 1 in november. okay developing news a specialty search and recovery dive team is now joining in the search for missing truckee teen kylie rodney the adventures with purpose group is made up of volunteers from across the country who helped families of missing people rodney who's 16 was last seen on august 6 at an outdoor party in truckee as part of the search officials held sex offender compliance sweeps

yesterday many triple digits. we're 101 at the livermore airport 99 at the concord airport. and today we will be in the 80s for the most part with those southwesterly winds through the delta cooling off our inland valley. so there's a look at the fog. it's not a totally solid deck but where we do have it it can be dense and spots. this is the view from vollmer peak pretty overexposed. but the marine layer is there and we're looking anywhere from 12 to 1800 feet with that depth. it is 58 to 56 degrees degrees in san francisco 58 oakland pal. so 59 in san jose and from mount tam, you can see a few holes here, but you notice the camera shaking the winds have been pretty gusty in spots with that deck of low clouds trying to expand across the bay. so right along the coast those breezy winds the sun coming up in about 10 minutes and we'll be looking at the temperatures trim back here as well moves in the upper 80s at about 2000 feet today cooler, but that sun pretty hot for this time of year for sure 58 santa rosa 62 by the

delta 60 in concord and above about 1800 feet. 2,000 feet. the relative humidity is just so so dry so we did have a better picture here, but from our roof camera, we have the clouds fog at the coast. mostly cloudy for some of you partly cloudy elsewhere not as hot today in linden warmer for your monday and then temperatures will really begin to settle into that pattern that we were so used to for much of july with that about 30 degrees spread. there's a look at the fog deck. it comes back to the coast for the most part. it is going to linger right along the shore there. so you'll definitely feel the change if you're close to the shoreline. and the coastal temperature as well. they're not going to be a whole lot different but in the days ahead we could even get a little bit more drizzle as a system drops to the south of us. but as for monday the fog pulls back, we're sunny. we're warmer high pressure temporarily builds in and that'll bring a return to some of those upper 90s. here's a look at the wind flow today anywhere from 25 to 30 miles an hour right onto the

east and that allows for that cool down but as that system lifts on out tomorrow, not only will we have the gusty winds, but we're also going to see warmth return so we will be kind of all over the map yesterday with that wider range. here's a look at your temperatures for monday. you can see the upper 90s near 100, but the coast only in the 60s with those breezy northwesterly wind, so this morning they're out of south and that is bringing up the deck of low clouds 80s around the shoreline the bay shore tomorrow. here's what happens on tuesday though. we're going to get a general cool down still some lingering heat out towards the so but look what happens on wednesday settling back into the 60s 70s 80s, and it should be pretty nice. i think for most of us to enjoy the last well, you know, summer's not over right it goes right on through september around here 86 in concord 78 in fremont mid 80sta r orhose of you going back more as the weather cools off a bit highs today

of ukrainians fled. we are being told there is a huge convoy of cars coming from the russian occupied areas, and here they are taking everything they can with them to get to safety. ukraine's president met with the u.n. secretary general, who says the areas around the plants needs to be demilitarized. >> need to reestablish it as civilian infrastructure and ensure the safety of the area. em: in a phone call between russian president vladimir putin and french president emmanuel macron both parties agreed to an independent inspection to inspect the plant as soon as possible and assess the real situation on the ground. ukrainian officials have shared a video of russian vehicles inside the plant, accusing pressure of using the plant as a military base. abc news has not verified the date this video was taken. zelenskyy has vowed to take back

control of the plant. meanwhile, ukraine has wondered russia is looking to disconnect the plant from ukraine's electric grid and redirect the power to its own grid. now russian state owned gasket when he says it was shut down its natural gas pipeline for three days at the end of the month, putting pressure on european countries that depend on that fuel. abc news, washington. liz: weeks after a massive flood in death valley national park, it is reopened at his most popular location this weekend. heavy rains caused damage to roadways and facilities this month. visitor center, mesquite sand dunes, and other places are open to visitors. they are still working to rebuild the roadways. visitors may experience delays and lane closures because of it. actor gary busey has been arrested for alleged sex crimes at a monster mania convention.

the annual horror film convention was held in new jersey last weekend. he was charged with two counts of fourth degree criminal sexual conduct, one count for criminal sexual conduct, and one count of harassment. investigators say at least two victims were grouped at the event. the convention has asked him not to return and asked victims to file a report with police. easton all of a sudden is thanking everyone for positive thoughts and prayers from his hospital bed. oliver fractured his skull after falling six feet out of a bunkbed on monday. he is recovering from a medically induced coma and surgery. he is facing another challenge, increased swelling in his face blocking his eyesight. >> thank you for your prayers. i am starting to feel better. >> awesome. team easton. we love you, buddy. >> love you too.
