moving forward, finding solutions, this is abc 7 news. >> i was very surprised. ama: governor newsom vetoes a bill that would have created safe, supervised drug injection sites. if he had signed the bill, sites would have been allowed to open in san francisco, oakland, and los angeles. supporters say it would have helped deal with the drug overdose crisis. j.r. stone learns san francisco could still move forward. >> i'm so excited and ecstatic and grateful that newsom went ahead and vetoed sb 57. >> jackie berlin is praising governor gavin newsom for vetoing that bill, one that would have allowed for safe injection sites, where people could legally do drugs in a supervised environment in san francisco, oakland, and los angeles, cities plagued by overdose deaths. state senator scott weiner wrote

people gathered near the spot where lily was murdered in broad daylight sunday afternoon in the little saigon neighborhood. surveillance video showing the incident unfolding and her life being taken away with the sound of three gunshots. [gunshots] >> we believe this was clearly a robbery that went that. -- bad. she did not give up her belongings. >> she was a local dentist and ballet student, active and be loved in her community. >> very kind, very loving, and a very ashen and -- passionate for life and everything. >> she came to pay her respects to her friend of many years. she says she is still in shock. >> immediately, i was crying. i made a lunch i could 90. >> her death is the second murder that happened in this area recently.

a de das sho wes ago. several oakland city council members were present at monday's vigil. with two murders in a couple of weeks, we asked what tangible steps they are taking to put an end to the violence. the council president telling us she believes the solutions have to be multifaceted. >> we have to get guns off the streets. one of the other things is that the police need to focus on solving these crimes. >> until relief comes, many in the local community will continue to live in fear, unsure to how to stop the violence. >> they want to have a normal life. i can walk in the street. they can go anywhere. without fear. >> tim johns, abc 7 news. ama: in fairfield, a man is in

the hospital after he was shot by police. it happened this afternoon during a brief chase. police released some photos. they said he pulled out a handgun and pointed it at officers. officers found five guns which turned out to be five bb guns and another gun was found in the suspect's car. they were trying to arrest him on an outstanding warrant in a domestic violence case. in richmond, police taped off an intersection. you can see a lot of police activity and the number of yellow evidence markers. there was at least one deceased person and a large crowd watching police investigate. new at 11:00, a bay area man accused of trying to derail the investigation into the death of a federal officer was sentenced to 10 years in prison. he also faced a separate charge involving child pornography.

federal investigators say he helped form and armed antigovernment militia group connected to the boogaloo movement. stephen carrillo was charged with the officer's murder and was earlier sentenced to 41 years. galloping news, the family of a teenager who disappeared after leaving a party in truckee say they are coming to terms with her death after drivers say they found her body yesterday. her family released a statement saying, while we accept this sadness cast under death's shadow, the rising sun shines light upon us, reminding us to celebrate kylie's spirit. the nevada county sheriff says they have not identified the body found a vehicle submerged in a lake, but they do believe that is the 16-year-old. she disappeared august 6. a volunteer group searched with high-end equipment for two days and say they found the suv in 14

news, his zest for life led him down countless paths. adding his loss will be deeply felt by an immense community of people who loved him and were loved by him. he was a santa cruz resident who graduated from ucsc with degrees in chemistry and earth sciences, working in the i.t. division. here in his pilot's license in june 2020. he was practicing loops, touchdowns, and takeoffs for additional certification. he successfully completed four and was on his last one when the crash happened. authorities say the second plane, a twin-engine cessna, was carrying two people and a dog. the victims on board identified. an internet search link the two

mentally ill homeless man and left a mini residential neighborhood in san francisco without any resources. liz has the story will only see on abc 7. >> it is not something san franciscans might expect to see, but here it is caught on camera. a police officer from marin peto bom francisco. o14 the shops neighbor recorded this video from her home across the street. she says after the officer unloaded the man and his belongings, he drove off. the neighbors say after the men was dropped off, he started causing trouble in the neighborhood and seemed to like something on fire and then started throwing rocks and undressing in a driveway. san francisco police department and fire were called to respond. they arrived 30 minutes after he was left. >> san francisco is not a dumping ground. >> san francisco city attorney
