>> >> requesting an ambulance. >> we hear a lot screaming. dion: shot on a marc train. thank you for joining us. i am dion lim dan: i am dan ashley. police they didn't learn about the shooting until the train took off to the lake merritt station. leslie brinkley is on the story. leslie: bart police say it was a targeted attack, a man shooting a man on a marc train at 1:25 this afternoon the suspect,

police said, was able to escape. but you can imagine panic among passengers. they were trapped in that train car until it got to the lake merritt station, where they ran out. >> based on the video we received, at this time, we are confident that this was not a random attack. leslie: we are told that the man who was shot was severely injured, life-threatening injuries. he was takenhe is undergoing surgery and listed in stable condition. bart police say multiple shots were fired and they have videof. meanwhile, the suspect got away. there was a moment when bart detained a suspect outside the lake merritt station. they later released him as not connected to the shooting, so the suspect in the shooting is

at large. in oakland, leslie brinkley, abc 7 news. dion: happening in just about one hour, leaders from the aap i community are scheduled together in oakland's little saigon to call for an end of violence. it comes in the wake of the deadly shooting that claimed the life of a dentist. earlier this month, a grandmother was shot in her home while sleeping end and who are driver was killed last month -- and over was killed last month in an attempted robbery. dan: the bay area's largest homeless encampment will soon be cleared out. today, a judge lifted a temporary restraining order stop caltrans's sweep of the wood street encampment in west oakland. the judge's decision came after the city vocal and complied with his order to submit detailed plans to house more than 200 people living there. cleanup begins labor day.

caltrans argued that the encampment, infested with trash and cars, poses a fire and safety risk. there have been 200 blazes there in the past two years. dion: happening in berkeley today, a face-off between two groups over abortion rights. it comes ahead of the november election, when will be faced with rock one, an amendment to the california constitution that would prohibit the state from interfering with a woman's right to abortion. here is more. ♪ reporter: it was tough to make out the chance and the abortion debate as to groups faced off on the uc berkeley campus. the group pro-life san francisco is holding a week of action. they were in san francisco thursday, friday was berkeley. their message, to vote no on prop one on the november ballot. >> lots of students are taking photos, videos, who probably never knew what prop one wise,

christian fascists, even the watchers says they have no religious affiliation. >> progressive pro-lifers will continue to hit the streets because this is a human rights issue. reporter: in berkeley, abc7news. dan: house speaker nancy pelosi in san francisco hosting a discussion on reproductive health. speakers vowed to do everything in their power to fight the supreme court decision overturning roe v. wade. the head of planned parenthood northern california detailed the impact ruling has had on patients, including those from out-of-state. >> abortion is health care and it has been horrifying to see access of this essential health care deteriorated in 16 states and counting. dan: panelists called on congress to provide further texans for patients and reproductive health dividers and more invest and see family

planning. dion: today, the justice department released the affidavit for the search of former president trump's estate. abc 7's karina nova joins us. karina: just a few hours ago, president trump put out a statement criticizing the unsealed affidavit. trump called it a stunt by the fbi and doj and attacked the judge who trump says should have recused himself.the 30 page aff- 38-page affidavit has heavy reductions to protect witnesses and sources, but we have insight into the investigation and a timeline. the fbi outlines more classified documents were at mar-a-lago even after the president's lawyers handed over 15 boxes of classified records

in january. the affidavit says there was a warning sent by the fbi to trump lawyers saying mar-a-lago was not authorized house materials that could compromise national security. two months later, the rate happened, where an additional 27 boxes including 11 sets of classified documents were seized. house speaker nancy pelosi and congresswoman jackie speier were asked about the affidavit while in the bay area for that women's health event today. both saying it comes down to national security. >> we will see what the facts are. it is only about the facts and the law, not about their spin. >> and if you beat the affidavit, it becomes very clear that every t was crossed and every i was adopted -- was dotted. when you have someone who, for 18 months, refused to turn over documents that did not belong to

him, that is theft. it is grand theft. di affidavit does also say that was probable cause to believe evidence of obstruction would be found at mar-a-lago. the doj says the investigation is active and there are civilian witnesses that be protected. reporting live, karina nova, abc7news. dan: thanks. sentencing day for the alleged antigovernment extremist who admitted killing a santa cruz county sheriff's sergeant years ago. today, the judge sentenced stephen curry out to life in prison without parole. kirby out --carrillo pleaded guilty to ambushing and murdering the deputy in june 2020. carrillo was a former air force sergeant already serving a 41 year sentence for killing a federal security office in oakland in 2020. dion: oakland police shot and killed a man this morning during a domestic's beauty

investigation. police were called to teresa lane at about 10:40 last night. a woman said her armed boyfriend was threatening to kill her and himself. the woman was able to run away. when police arrived, they found that man inside the home. police say he did not respond at later fired shots inside the home. he then fired at officers and one officer returned fire and struck the man. >> a woman called saying her boyfriend was holding her captive in a vehicle, driving around with a firearm. once inside, she was able to flee and call 911. dion: police say medical he was given, but the 58 euros man died. his identity has not been released. dan: hey contra costa county sheriff's deputy faces charges in connection with an illegal firearms case. 41 euros matthew buckley was arrested after a search warrant was served and evidence seized at a home. he is charged with felony grand theft of firearms, receiving

stolen property and destroying evidence. buckley is on paid leave pending the outcome of the investigation. he's being held on one habit been $75,000 bail. dion: chp have arrested five suspects for statewide cargo theft operations worth $1 million in stolen goods. chb recovered when many dollars in electronics and seized a quarter million dollars in cash. the arrests are the result of a two-year investigation with golden gate division chb and southern division in southern california. >> this is items that are being stolen from cargo containers before they even make it to the stores. we are talking very large dollar amounts. dion: investigators believe the cargo theft operation is responsible for a massive cargo theft worth $9 million in stolen electronics. the suspects' identities will not be released during the investigation. dan: after the break, and ousted

gabriela lopez, announced she was running again for a position on the board. leanne melendez spoke to lopez about being ousted, and hermeneutical hopes. lyanne: january 2019, gabriela lopez honored her parents by taking the oath in spanish. critics said, instead of focusing on kids returning to class, you and the board focused on nonessential things such as renaming schools, painting over murals. if you had to do it again, what would you do differently? >> i believe some people didn't see me as someone who was listening. i really want to change that, understanding who i am. i am first and educator, a person who does listen. that is how i learn to make better decisions. lyanne: another issue that did not work in her favor was her support for former colleague allison collins, who made hurtful remarks toward the chinese community on twitter. and now that you are running, that is going to come up again. what are you going to say to that community? >> the comments that were made were harmful, and to learn from it. but i don't want to be someone who turns away from that because
