community are gathering in oakland's little saigon to call for an end to violence in the neighborhood. it comes after sunday's shooting that killed a dentist. earlier this month, a grandmother was shot in her home while sleeping in an uber driver was killed last month in the attempted robbery. >> a judge has given caltrans the green light to move forward with a homeless encampment in west oakland. the property is packed with trash. it is also a major fire hazard, with more than 200 blazes in the last two years. abc7news has a reaction to the decision. >> as flames or in west oakland this was the scene of a two alarm fire one month ago, which brought in nearly 65 firefighters and force the highway to shut down. the source came from the wood street encampment, home to 200 people experiencing homelessness

that has been no strangers to fires. according to the oakland fire department from spring 2021 to this year, there were 90 fires in the area. most were on railroad or caltrans property under the freeway. >> and yes, there have been many fires at that site, but that is not the only site in oakland where we have had that experience. >> on friday, a judge dissolved a temporary restraining order against caltrans and the giving them, oakland, and alameda county the authority to move forward with clearing the encampment in three phases, meaning more than 200 people need to relocate. in a joint statement from the governor and the oakland mayor, they said "caltrans will hopefully be able to proceed to clean up the most dangerous portion of the wood street encampment, and the city of oakland will support caltrans by providing housing, outreach, and offer available shelter beds to

here is a look at today's numbers. the dow is down more than 1000 points. the nasdaq felt nearly 500. the s&p 500 dropped 141 points. santa clara county supervisors on local nonprofits announced nearly $10 million in funding will be used in the fight against homelessness. funding will be provided from federal, state, and local revenue to help fund housed people get into affordable housing within the county. plans will be put into place to provide resources for people experiencing domestic violence, developmental disabilities in the pregnancy, and homelessness. affordable housing is expected to be available by the end of the year and in upcoming years. dan: 20,000 people will celebrate in the south bay for the silicon valley pride parade and festival. our reporter spoke with organizers about what to expect this weekend and the boost that they hope it gives the entire community. >> this would be the main stage.

abc7news at 11:00. a quick reminder at the abc7news is streaming 24/7. you can get the bay area app and join us whenever you want, wherever you happen to be. dan: finally this friday, a few thoughts about what really matters. this week, the state of california took an encouraging step to address the climate crisis. the air report -- air resources board has approved new rules that will require all new cars sold in the state to be electric by 2035. it discipline governor newsom first announced two years ago. as we have been many times before, california is on the leading edge of important change, change that will significantly reduce carbon emissions for vehicles operating in california. as the most populous state in the nation, with most cars on the road, we should be at the forefront. ultimately, it would mean a thing if other states and other countries don't follow our lead.
