saying they need help immediately. >> an update on the chaotic situation on bart. the shooting suspect nowhere to be found 24 hours later. thanks for joining us. let's start with a look at weather. lisa: the final weekend of august shaping up to be a nice one starting off with low clouds. we are clear inland. you can see that around marin county. on top of mount tam, the sun coming up in 36 minutes. 69 in san francisco. 59 in half moon bay. mostly cloudy skies downtown. 55 santa rosa. 58 in concord. from emeryville, another nice afternoon with low 70's coming into play. by noontime, mid-70's by the inland valleys. we still have clouds at the coast. they will become partly cloudy in spots but we will not do away

with them altogether. mid-80's inland. another breezy afternoon on the bay. talking about the slow warm up to come for the week ahead. liz: thank you. it has been a violent weekend. police say four people were killed in two separate shootings including the one we told you about yesterday morning where a bicyclist was killed by a car speeding the scene. cornell barnard was at an anti-violence event where advocates say enough is enough. cornell: please join me in a moment of silence for the human beings whose lives were stolen from us. a moment of remembers at this stop the violence event at oakland city hall honoring the victims of gun violence in west oakland. >> it is heartbreaking. any loss of life should be honored by all people. cornell: saturday morning police were called to sycamore street where they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds. he died at the scene. friday night a few blocks away a shooting in west oakland left

three people dead including a bicyclist run over by a fleeing car. >> we know there was an initial suiting -- an initial shooting. we know there was a second shooting. we know that after the second shooting the vehicle which the individual who had been shot was inside of, fled from the scene and that is the vehicle that appears to have struck the bicyclist. cornell: chief armstrong says the motive for the shootings is unknown. >> it is unfortunate. another senseless violence in our city. so tragic to lose three people in one incident. >> violence just does not start with guns. cornell: this event was opportunities for security. >> it is time to get beyond rhetoric and focus on direct action. that is what is needed to address what is happening in our communities. cornell: this group is calling for more resources and outreach

for inner-city neighborhoods. >> people are starving. literally starving. food-hungry, job-hungry. it is about prevention. >> the first step is reconstituting community. cornell: police say both shootings are under investigation and appear to be unrelated. in oakland, cornell bernard, abc 7 news. liz: police are looking for the person who shot a man on board of a train on friday afternoon. it happened on a daly city bound train as it made its way through his oakland. we are hearing the radio message from the operator who described the chaotic situation when he pulled into the lake merritt station. >> i've got some kind of emergency on the train. people yelling and screaming saying they need help immediately. a passenger on the platform came up to my cab and said people were running out of the train. >> very rare occurrences. very traumatic in closed areas

so we understand the angst that riders would have being in an enclosed area like a train. liz: police is reviewing security footage from the train and the station. they believe the victim was targeted. the suspect escaped at the fruitvale station. the victim was taken to highland hospital in oakland with life earning injuries. in union city one person was wounded after a shooting outside a convenience store. police say he was shot at 3:00 in the morning in the parking lot of a quick stop. that man is expected to survive. you can see a bullet hole in the store window. officers are asking anyone with information to contact them. a mountain lion died during emergency surgery at the oakland zoo. the animal had been shot by police after it was found roaming through a neighborhood in hollister. friday morning hollister police received a call about a mountain lion in the neighborhood. fish and wildlife attempted to tranquilize the mountain lion but were unsuccessful so officers fired at the animal after it charged toward them.

the cougars suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen and was transported to the oakland zoo where it died. the zoo says it was the 20th mountain lion need of their help following close contact with humans. in newark on person's died from a crash involving three cars. this happened early saturday morning on cherry street near mallory avenue. officers say a total of five people were involved in the three car crash. one of the drivers died at the scene. another driver was hospitalized with nonfarm verity -- with nonlife threatening injuries. the other driver and passengers were taken to the hospital. alcohol and speed played a role in this crash. another airplane emergency in watsonville but this one thankfully, everyone walked away unharmed. a single engine landed at a beach in watsonville yesterday afternoon. the faa tells us three people were on board and all three walked away from what they are calling this force landing. the fire department tells us there was some kind of engine

problem that led the pilot to put the plane on the sand. witnesses say he did a good job avoiding people on the beach. >> he started coming down. we didn't realize it was engine failure or something until they told us because he landed very smoothly. liz: it was parked in a safe spot. the faa is investigating. it comes one week after two planes collided in midair in watsonville, killing three people. in a little more than 24 hours, nasa will make history with a launch of artemis one rocket. right now the most powerful rocket ever is sitting on the launch pad at cape canaveral in florida. it is ready to launch toward the moon. the launch window opens a 5:30 tomorrow morning. the project is years behind schedule and billions over budget. it marks nasa's return to space mission 11 years after the last space shuttle launch. anticipation is high and does launch is a critical part of nasa's plan to get to mars in

d friday morning at moss beach in san mateo county. the victim fell 100 feet onto the beach below. a woman walking her dog heard him yelling for help and called 911. firefighters say it is a reminder of how dangerous cliff sides can be to people and pets. the city of san bruno is honoring japanese-americans who were imprisoned in the tanforan internment camp. this year marks the 80th anniversary. ryan curry shows us how the city is paying tribute and what message is being sent for the future. >> it is really important that we unite. ryan: five local artists with ancestors in japanese internment camps came together to remember the past and shed light toward the future. >> each piece is made out of five to 11 pieces of glass. ryan: she is one of those artists who designed the piece for the exhibit. she built a kimono made of glass. >> it is fused at 1340 degrees. ryan: all with with pictures are

former members of japanese internment camps. >> families and people while they were incarcerated during world war ii. ryan: her party -- her partner says her ancestors were forced out of their plant nursery so she built a cherry blossom sculpture to honor them. >> they ended up giving away, donating, trying to sell whatever they had before they were incarcerated. ryan: designs that took several years to make now on display but they are not the only ones in san bruno remembering the 80th anniversary of the local internment camp. ♪ the tanforan memorial committee unveiled an outdoor memorial to honor the people detained. >> we created this memorial to honor them and we want to make sure that they understand that this was for them. ryan: it has been 80 years since the tanforan camp and now artists want to use history to remind people to always fight against prejudice. >> we fight together against the

prejudice and the ratio inhumane treatment -- racial inhumane treatment that many are still encountering today. ryan: ryan curry, abc7news. liz: final repairs are done after a 10 day stretch where crews worked on the muni metro subway. normal schedules are back in place starting today. the subway was closed between the bark and russell crowe stations. crews were working on overhead wires, tracks, signals, and the automated control system. all of this was being done in the name of safety. the subway was closing lightly since the work started with buses instead of trains running on the street level. san francisco mayor number -- mayor london breed has declared today zuckerberg hospital day. the mayor emphasized the importance of san francisco hospital work in providing access to quality healthcare and service to san franciscans since

1872. over the coming months the san francisco general hospital foundation will showcase the hospital's history through billboards, social media, and tv ads. they will highlight the stories of innovation and inclusion from plagues, plan did ask -- pandemics and natural disasters. a freeway is expected to fully reopen next week after sustaining major damage in a flash flood. in this video you see a large part of i-10 heading east has been washed out. crews are working through the weekend to repair the highway. monsoon storms cause similar damage to roads in death valley national park, leaving hundreds of visitors stranded. let's get a check of the forecast. anything like that expected in the forecast in the coming days? lisa: no. dry and more dry weather. in fact, extra dry as we get into the middle to the end of the week as high pressure continues to build that will allow for the marine layer to back off as well as the onshore flow. right now in the upper

valleys, we will be on the warm side but very pleasant in the 80's in the inland valleys. the summer heat is returning as we get into wednesday, thursday. tuesday, high pressure builds in. this is monday where numbers are beginning to climb into the mid-80's. that is very typical. in fact, it could be warmer for this time of year. 70's around the bay. 60's at the coast. winds out of the south. still warm to the north. tuesday, we will see if you 90's arrive i'm the sacramento valley. -- tuesday we will see a few 90's arrive in the sacramento valley. it is gusty with a wind out of the southwest at 30 miles an hour. by wednesday, mid-90's so the warmth has returned. you notice the pink tour the sacramento region -- toward the sacramento region. by thursday, we could be near 80 around the bay and will be a warm up. average highs in the mid-70's on the east bay for this time of year. 77 in fremont.

80 today in the south bay. a few degrees low average. 70's and 80's toward the north bay. san francisco, a couple of degrees shy of average. certainly as we get toward the coast, getting a little bit grayer and breezier with a range of temperatures not too extreme yet. as we look at the forecast, we widen the range through the middle of the week. the 7-day forecast featuring the pleasant weather today and tomorrow. the cooler days out of the next seven as we get closer to september, the numbers climb into the 90's. the sea breeze is with us but it is not as robust. it will not reach our inland areas. it will stay at the coast. temperatures in the mid-70's to upper 70's around the bay. summertime still with us throughout this week. it looks like into labor day as well. liz: really with us next weekend. thanks. burning man starts today in the nevada desert. the weeklong festival is back after the pandemic brought the annual pilgrimage to a halt.

organizers say tems of thousands are expected to come together in nevada's black rock desert to create black rock city, a temporary metro dedicated to community art, self-expression, and self-reliance. dust storms are part of the experience. burning man began in 1986 on baker beach with the burning of a large wooden effigy called "the man." it is estimated close to 40,000 visitors showed up on saturday to san francisco's chinatown festival. many consider the test the both -- when he consider the festival to be the second most important and chinese undercounter -- chinese lunar calendar. news reporter andrew was there. reporter: it came to a close with the fire dragon dance. >> this is about casting away the bad giu giu that we have been experiencing and also new energy. reporter: the festival dates backthanks to the mood for a

i'm pretty happy. reporter: san francisco's chinatown's fortunes may not be tied to a strong harvest but the festival is still an important time to focus on the future. >> in the ancient context, the emperor would wish for a bountiful harvest. we are kind of wishing for a bountiful year for the neighborhood and also for the better days to come. reporter: in san francisco, abc7news. liz: if you missed out, the moon festival will be taking over chinatown again this morning starting at 11:00 a.m. today is the second day of silicon valley pride. the parade starts at 10:30 this morning followed by a festival that starts at noon. you can see the start of the parade near the corner of east julian and market street. you can see all the people that were out last night to celebrate right, enjoying good music -- to celebrate pride, enjoying good music my food, and vendors. a member of the san francisco school board wants a second

allegations involving an underage girl. the claims against him and two college teammate. we are hearing from the player this morning as well as the girls lawyer. and the countdown is on for nasa's big lots tomorrow. how america is set to make history in space again with the artemis one. that is all ahead here on gma. liz: back to that other story, it has been more than six months since three san francisco school board members were recalled by voters. it was the first time for that in the history of the school district. recently one of them, gabriela lopez, announced she is running again for a position on the board. education reporter leah melendez spoke to lopez about being ousted and her renewed hopes. reporter: newly elected school board commissioner gabriela lopez honored her parents by taking the oath in spanish. >> [speaking foreign language] >> being able to invite them to something that we are normally not a part of was why it was so

emotional for a lot of people. reporter: a former classroom teacher, lopez was the youngest elected official in san francisco and eventually became the president of the school board. her platform focused on giving teachers a living wage, allowing parents to become involved in their children's education by decreasing the language barriers and supporting the socio- emotional health of students among other things. >> and then covid hit and many of your critics said that instead of focusing on kids returning to the classroom, you and the board focused on other nonessential things such as renaming schools, painting over murals. if you had to do it again, what would you do differently this time? >> i believe that some people did not see me as the one who was listening and i really wanted to change that understanding of who i am. i am first an educator. i am a person who does listen. that is how i learn and make

better decisions. reporter: another issue that did not work in their favor was her star support for her former colleague allison collins who made hurtful remarks toward the chinese community on twitter. >> now that you are running, that is going to come up again. what are you going to say to that community? >> comments that were made were harmful and learn from it. but i do not want to be someone who turns away from that because as humans, we grow from those moments. reporter: she admits the recall was hurtful. she took time to reflect and work on her phd at stanford and just two weeks ago she announced she was running again. the gabriela lopez of 2019 and the gabriela lopez now, different people? more experienced, more knowledgeable, wiser? >> what i have learned is not to isolate myself when things get hard because they will.

visibility good at the coast. there is a shark tank. 55 santa rosa. 56 in petaluma and livermore with a clear sky. partly cloudy in concord. the next few hours, clouds not moving much and temperatures will begin to increase as we get toward the noon hour with mid and upper 70's inland. by the afternoon we are in the mid 80's inland with mid-70's at the bayside communities. it will be sunny there. sunshine downtown. winds up to 20 miles an hour. looking at a slightly warmer start to the week. the fog is with us but it will retreat quicker and we will talk about how warm we will get in a few minutes. liz: thanks. developing news in florida, a federal judge is asking the justice department to provide more specific information about the classified bios -- about the classified files removed from former president trump's estate. the judge is considering a special master to review the documents.

christine sloan has the latest. christine: a federal judge appears to be leaning toward appointing a special master to oversee the review of evidence federal investigators recovered from their search of mar-a-lago. former president trump's legal team made the request. in a notice posted saturday the judge who was appointed by trump scheduled arguments for september 1. the director of national intelligence is said to evaluate the potential risk to national security that may have resulted from classified documents being held at mar-a-lago. democratic house, chairs pushed for a review saying after receiving the unsealed affidavit, "it is critical that the intelligence committee move swiftly to assess and if necessary, mitigate the damage done." the affidavit was used in the request to search mar-a-lago. the document is highly redacted. the doj explained the reductions, writing that the government has well-founded concerns that steps may be taken to frustrate or otherwise

interfere with this investigation of facts in the affidavit. >> the affidavit itself even says that if the request to be sealed because they are unabated -- unidentified parties they are looking at and. other charges that could come out of this. christine: former president trump has been critical of the investigation and claims he did nothing wrong but despite his criticism of the rejections, his legal team did not argue for its release in court. christine sloan, abc news, new york. >> first lady jill biden remains in isolation after testing positive again for covid-19. she has positive when a rebound case -- with a rebound case wednesday 10 days after her initial positive case. she was first treated with paxlovid which can cause rebound cases. a white house official says she is not experiencing any symptoms and can return to the white house as soon as tomorrow. for the first time, a baby is

being treated at a hospital for monkeypox. health officials in washington state say the child tested positive after being exposed to the virus by a family member. the baby developed a rash seattle children's hospital confirmed that the benefit is being treated with an authorized antiviral. across the country at least 18 children in 10 states have contracted the virus. anyone can get but health officials majority of cases have been detected in men who have sex with men. there are declining cases in new york or chicago, and san francisco. >> actually seeing the vaccine get out, behaviors change, harm reduction measures being implemented to bend the curve. liz: cdc director dr. walensky says black and hispanic men are disproportionately represented in new cases and has vowed to increase vaccine equity. security video shows a group of thieves trying to steal expensive birds from a pet store near los angeles.

earlier this week burglars smashed the front window of the pet shop and saw through security gate to get inside. it took two minutes for them to get to several of the birds. a few of the animals flyaway as the burglars chase after them. a third bird clung to a fan flapping its wings. the business was started two years ago. the owner is devastated. >> [speaking foreign language] >> she had to sacrifice not being around her kids, working day and night. liz: the thieves got away with seven birds worth more than $20,000. hopefully they find them. pope francis has officially welcomed 20 new cardinals at the vatican. one of the new members is 68-year-old american bishop rob mcilroy. many of them are from around the road including singapore from italy, india, and even amazon.

we are talking to lisa because her mother's account seems to have been hacked and lisa has been helping with the fallout. >> she called bank of america and she filed a fraudulent claim. it was four transactions on the same day that totaled $3500 by whalen marlin. michael: probably a fake name. the bank put a hold on the account and investigated it. earlier, it was stolen. there may have not been a time. >> they were not going to refund her money. they could not prove that it was not my mother who facilitated the transactions. michael: lisa contacted me and that is why the three of us are talking and i had to ask this question. >> did you make those transactions? >> no. absolutely not.

in fact, the name of that person is on my statement. michael: that person's name is not chang. i reached out to bank of america and made a case to two san francisco institutions, bank of america and the shop should be able to work this out and they came through, telling me that based on additional information provided by the clients daughter and further research on our part, we suspect that the client's device may have been compromised. bank of america return the entire stolen amount. when i heard the good news, i headed over to the walk shop. look who is here today? how are you doing? >> how are you? michael: i am doing good. how are you? >> better now. michael: i am michael finney, 7 on your side. liz: nice to see happy ending. we want to hear from you.

58 in san jose. mid-50's in santa clara. half moon bay at 59 degrees. a look at pier 39 where you can see the sea lions waking up and waiting on the sunshine. a little breeze today with some sun in the city but the closer you get to the coast, we will have areas of low clouds clinging to the shoreline. numbers in the mid-50's santa rosa. 56 in petaluma. a good southwesterly wind. through the delta today, that backs off as we get into the middle of the week as high pressure builds into the south and east of us. livermore has been clear at 57 degrees. a lot of gray sky from emeryville. temperatures may be a couple of degrees below average today. fog and drizzle at the coast if you are driving around highway one. otherwise, mild today with near average temperatures, may be a few degrees below average but it will be on the warm side and very pleasant inland and summa returns -- and summer returns.

there is a look at our fog footprint this morning as the low cloud deck has expanded into the east bay and that blanket of low crowds -- low clouds retreating once again. into monday morning not quite as far-reaching. we could see some fog inland but it is all about the sunny afternoon and temperatures slowly coming up. here is a look at our inland valleys where we have mid-80's to upper 80's today and tomorrow and as we get into tuesday. that is when the high pressure ridge begins to expand, allows the fog to retreat. the sea breeze will stay with us. we will not warm up at the coast. we will stay in the 60's. look what happens inland. upper 90's, we could even see triple digits the south bay today. 80 around san jose. 78 in santa clara. santa cruz has not been too warm. upper 60's and a lot of fogblkel coast. 74 in san mateo with some cooling there around redwood city. about 80 today.

a bay area marine who served in afghanistan and iraq will have a portion of interstate 280 named after him. the section runs between the el monte exit and while santos hills and the intersection with highway 85 in cupertino. justin dorsey looks at what it took to make this happen. reporter: our countries build our heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice to ensure our freedom by former u.s. marines captain matt, 80 native who died serving in afghanistan. this month marks 10 years since his passing, a challenging anniversary for his father. >> hearing from his friends and colleagues who served with him at the time about the things he was doing, how much afghans and iraqis respected him, we miss that guy. justin: he believed in universal and perpetual peace, value he lived by while serving in the marines before he was killed by a rogue afghan police officer.
