6:14 pm
if all goes as planned beginning in the fall of 2023 students in san francisco public schools will have two additional days off to celebrate eid to cultural holidays of muslim origin hundreds of our students were falling behind academically, you know missing class missing assignments when they have to take off time for this for this holiday because they want to go and spend time with their families the san francisco unified school board agreed only one member voted against adding these two holidays and shoe who argued that there isn't a process in place when selecting holidays shoe also believes all students need more instruction not less. here's what she said on the john rothman program with regard to how students currently observe eid welcome students can take these two days off and they will not be penalized the action by the board is deemed unfair by others those in the jewish community are reminding the board that the district does not take off for rosh hashanah or yom, kipp. i think a lot of our families

weekend san diego, right? that's right. and as people are making plans this weekend dan and deon we are talking about the potential for record-breaking heat here in the bay area and for that matter significant risk of heat illnesses here. so let's start with the smoke. that's what's happening right now. i want to draw your attention to the smoke from that fire that is burning up to our north. this is the six rivers lightning complex fire. there's also another fire. this one is in southwest oregon called the rum creek fire smoke from both of those fires have been impacting parts of the bay area since yesterday, the air quality advisory was extended for that reason and you will notice parts of san rafael, san jose looking at moderate air quality good for the rest of the bay area, but it's worse where those fires are burning as you would expect. so we take a look at the smoke forecast the heaviest concentration of that smoke which is the oranges and reds will remain near the fire zone up north but here the bay area we're still going to see hazy

conditions right on through the next couple of days. you can see it here from our mount tam cam air quality advisory through today due to the smoke from both those fires moderate air quality the next three days, so just be aware of that especially if you're particularly sensitive to smoke you'll want to limit your outdoor time. the other thing we're watching is this area of low pressure that actually prevented us from getting hot today temperatures today anywhere from one to six degrees below average most of you in the 60s to 80s range fairfield got up to 90 degrees that low also pulling up some moisture and providing the lift of for some thunderstorms that develop just north of lake county this afternoon and evening. those have since died down here in the bay area. we do have quiet weather was some fog near the coast and beautiful blue skies from our golden gate bridge camera right now. here's a look at those temperatures 65 in the city 67 in oakland. i hope you're out and about enjoying this because it's mild in palo alto san jose santa clara all in the low to mid 70s exploratorium cameras showing you. beautiful view of the financial district 73 in santa rosa.

it is 69 in petaluma low 80s round places like fairfield livermore 78 degrees and as we look from our kgo roof camera a little bit of haze there out towards the bay heath spikes late in the week remains mild at the coast moderate to high risk of heat illnesses bay and inland and we're looking at records likely for the holiday weekend tomorrow morning. we start out with the around the bay and the coast between five and eight am won't be surprised if you see a little bit of mist and drizzle and then for the afternoon and evening, we'll still have some fog around so we don't have to worry about any extreme heat tomorrow 50 60s on those temperatures afternoon highs in the low 90s inland. so a slight bump up 91 in fairfield 89 in livermore 73, oakland 82, san rafael 84 santa rosa 68 in san francisco mid 70s, palo alto san mateo 82 in san jose the accuweather 7-day forecast. it's a typical summer pattern tomorrow warming trend for wednesday heating up inland into the triple digits as we go into friday just a minor dip, but look at this this is potentially
