weather service said hey, we're going to push it off a little bit that excessive heat warning sunday at 11 am until 8 pm tuesday for solano county until 8pm wednesday that covers all the hills the inland areas heat advisory is for the bayshore line marin coastal range 11 am sunday to 8 pm. monday temperatures will range from the upper 90s to the upper 100s for the hottest spots as we look at tomorrow morning. it's going to be the coolest point fifties to 70s at 8 o'clock notice by noon. you're already in the 80s inland. it's gonna be hotter than today. that's for sure. we're going to start to see those temperatures into the 90s and 100s, but those are not the high temperatures for the day. let me show you sunday's highs. they're gonna go up even more into the mid 100s and places like concord upper 100s by labor day. we're talking 109 in concord one 10 is what that model's projecting for livermore. we're going with 108 degrees. the coast will be in the 70s this heat wave is going to last for days. i'll be back to let you know. exactly. how many days and how hot it's

however, although 500 buildings are still at risk two buildings have burned down. firefighters across the bay area are preparing for a very difficult hot weekend abc 7 news reporter ryan curry went to the fremont fire department to see their plans. it is shaping up to be a busy weekend for firefighters in the bay area. the fremont fire department says it will be all hands on deck right now. we do have two crews training at our training facility. they're practicing pumping techniques of wildland firefighting techniques for this weekend battalion. chief. gary ashley says his crews needs special gear to be ready for the extreme heat. pants we wear this is a structured helmet. and this is a structure coat, right? but the big difference for wildland firefighting you wear lighter materials made of nomads. you wear a lighter helmet. it's always equipped with a heat shield the equipment for fighting fires is one thing but actually says they need to carry special equipment to keep them

safe from the hot weather. it's mandatory that we carry a tent shelter and that specifically used for wildland fires in case they're overrun by fire. they could pull out the ten shelter, but new to this pack and new to me is a hydration pack it carries two liters of water that the personnel could keep on their back at all time already on friday morning fremont fire station 7 had numerous calls and they are expecting more. it's not just the potential for fires. they have to be ready in case anyone has the heat related illness every apparatus in the cities equipped with our staff with a paramedic and they're trained to treat those kind of symptoms ashley has been working for free on fire for over 20 years. he says it's common to see hot days but temperatures this high is something they are seeing a lot more of lately last five fire seasons have been most intense in my 28 year career and a lot of that could be attributed to climate change but regardless of how hot it gets ashley says his team is ready

is nice. yeah, labor day weekend is traditionally the last big weekend of recreational swim in preparation for the busy weekend and excessive heat. they've scheduled extra staff despite the ongoing lifeguard shortage impacting public pools across the country. we have danced the areas available for public swimming and which is a lot of us to increase our staffing to give our staff more breaks and to also monitor some of the spaces that will be opening up as kind of cooling areas. we have a classroom in a weight room that are fully air conditioning and we anticipate that people may need to get out of the cold out of the hot and go sit there for a little bit. clear shields wanted to cool off and beat the crowds while she gets in her laps. i think it's gonna be super busy that this pool gets populated from berkeley oakland san francisco. people come to this as an outdoor pool. it's a great pool if public pools are too crowded. there are private pools for rent. so this weekend we just were inundated with requests. amy sable has her pool on offer

san rafael police chief has placed those two officers now on paid administrative leave. hi team reporter dan noises back with the latest on an investigation. you will see only on abc 7 dan. well dan the victim in this case a man we called mateo has been cleared of all charges he and his attorneys are considering their next move, which very well may be a lawsuit. stop one day after i first showed you the body cam video of that violent struggle that left a popular gardener from san rafael's canal district with a broken nose and a concussion a police spokesperson tells me those two officers daisy mother igos and brandon nail have just been placed on paid administrative leave penning an internal affairs investigation. i think that's an appropriate stat. that's a positive move says the marin county supervisor who represents that district trust is is foundation and you got to have it with the communities you're seeking to serve otherwise folks are going to be

hesitant to engage with law enforcement and and report crimes. that's just not good for any of us, san rafael police chief david spiller put out an open letter this afternoon in english and spanish saying i'm both personally and professionally concerned about this incident and how it impacts the trust. our department has worked hard. build in this community spiller promises a full investigation adding that mazariegos and neil aren't the only ones being investigated but all members of the department who were there and that anyone found to have behaved outside. our standards of conduct will be held accountable and disciplined as appropriate. i also received a statement from the ceo of the canal alliance the works on immigration issues in the area omar carrera demand swift action and a comprehensive investigation adding we will be hosting a forum to give people in the community the opportunity to be heard on this matter. there should be an independent investigation and all

appropriate steps taking so that these incidents have to stop. i renewed my requests for an interview but no response from the police chief. i emailed him that we'll have to talk about this on camera sooner or later and that he should address what this incident may say about broader issues in his department. well, dan, i know you'll stay on it as you always do. thank you, sir. today a judge throughout an indictment charging a dive boat captain with manslaughter in that fire that killed 34 people off the southern california coast exactly three years ago. the judge said the indictment failed to specify the captain acted with gross negligence, which is required to prove the crime prosecutors may appeal and can also seek a new indictment alleging gross negligence. another senior passed away at an atria facility this time in walnut creek. we've already reported on a 93 year old woman who lived at atria park of san mateo who died on monday after she after she drank dishwashing liquid instead of juice. she was given that to abc 7 news

reporter loose pena spoke to the son of the man who died who says there are similarities to his father's case. happened again days after 93 year old trudy maxwell died after being served dishwashing liquid instead of drinking juice at this san mateo atria senior living facility. another family is coming forward this time the incident took place at the age of facility in walnut creek. the resident was 94 year old constantine kanoon. the facility said he appeared to suffer a negative reaction on august 23rd. he died on wednesday the primary job of an assistant care facility is to enhance the lives of senior citizens, and now we have atria who has ended two lives in a week. so that is about as egregious a tracker you can get attorney neil mccarthy is not involved in either. but specializes in elder abuse cases. he's calling on the state to intervene. so what they've done so far is

♪ i don't wanna stop at all, yeah ♪ hot weekend and a long weekend many people will be flocking to other parts of the bay area to try to beat the heat a hospital emergency room near one of the most popular spots says it's dapped up and ready to care for patients not just for heat related illness, but other accidents too abc 7 news reporter zach fuentes spoke with them about easy ways to stay out of the er altogether. hot weather and long weekends are usually what it takes to paint this picture of local beaches in santa cruz county crowds of people hoping to escape from high temperatures where they live historically the emergency room at dominican hospital in santa cruz ends up having to care for many of those tourists as we went into this weekend. what we did is we staffed up we added additional staff to the emergency department and on top of that we have staff who are on call tammy green is the manager of the hospital's emergency department. they refer to the time between

memorial day and labor day as the 100 deadliest days. that's what our incident of drunk driving unfortunately and the fatalities related to them increases on top of that. the current heat wave is also added to their concerns be even more people who maybe before this they weren't considering traveling to towards the ocean and cooler areas. and so we're gonna have more people out on the road though the beach might be the ideal place to find relief based off what climate experts we could say you may want to postpone other outdoor activities in or near santa cruz county locations up in the hills. stay hot overnight. and so if you go up into the hills for camping, or hiking if you and if you go out in the early morning, it's still going to be hot and dry and it's gonna be a stress on your body green says what people who are older have compromised health conditions are more prone to heat sickness. no one should underestimate the heat you have had young people

it's burned at least 300 acres near gazelle. that's a tiny town just across i-5 from lake shastina evacuation warnings are in effect. this is just a few miles from the mill fire, which is destroyed homes in the city of weed. people are being ordered to evacuate this fire is about 3,000 acres since it sparked around 1 pm and there is no containment. a heat wave has hit the bay area as you know, but it's hard to tell along the coast check out the fog this morning in pacifica much cooler there but even foggy san francisco is seeing an increase in extreme heat events city officials are taking action creating a heat map to determine which neighborhoods are most vulnerable to the impact of extreme heat abc 7 news reporter liam melendez says this information is vital to preparing for climate change. some like it hot but the health implications of increasing temperatures are of concern to a city with so-called urban heat islands lots of concrete not a lot of trees and you get the

heat can go up considerably just in those areas chinatown for example has a large number of surfaces that absorb heat coupled with the fact that there's a lack of tree cover and shade because temperatures will be higher this weekend volunteers are mapping the city to discover which streets and neighborhoods get hottest during a heatwave using car mounted heat sensors these volunteers began collecting temperature and humidity data beginning at 6am then 3pm and seven at night being able to capture temperature and humidity throughout our neighborhoods at different times of day also helps us to understand how long heat is staying or persisting in certain pockets of our city think of it as a preemptive strike if neighbors are told their street is hotter than other is in the city and there's a lot of concrete and few green spaces. there are a few things the city can do to make things. cooler parks and more trees help with the urban cooling.

with larry beale good evening, the self-proclaimed captain brandon belt may have played his last game for the giants. he needs season ending knee surgery belt has been with a giants for 12 years when he's healthy. he provides great defense at first base some power some laughs with the captain's hat, but this is going to be belts third surgery on that achy. right knee. he was terrific last year in the captains had i mean it very entertaining but he slumped badly this season hitting only two 13 with eight-home wrist. his contract is up at the end of the year. so this could be the end for the 34 year old veteran, although catfish is he wants him back?
