christian who is on the roof with the latest conditions. >> this heat is oppressive and it will be with us for a while. the current temperature readings, 93 degrees in san francisco. virtually every inland location has triple digits. it may be hotter in some locations tomorrow. we have an excessive heat warning through 8:00 p.m. wednesday for all of the bay area except for those locations around shoreline and coast. high temperatures will reach up to about 115 and the hottest spots and conditions like this produce the risk of heat-related illness. we also have a heat advisory for the shoreline locations. also one or two places near the coast as well. overnight, we will not get much will break. we will have record high warm low temperatures overnight with low temperatures in the upper

possibility today and tomorrow is expected to be worse when it comes to the weather and electricity demand. that's why cal iso says everyone should be conserving energy from now until 10:00 p.m.. i want to show you a live look at the state power grid. this is real time energy demand. about 45 minutes ago, it seemed like the flex alert was working. there was a drop in the man, but since then, the demand has increased quite a bit. we are beyond forecasted peak for the day. if we go above that capacity, that's when the rolling outages may happen. cal iso says the impact on the power grid will determine the decision on whether power needs to be shut off for residents. if they determine is needed, they will communicate to the utilities about how much of a load to take off-line. then, pg&e targets circuit blocks to meet the total. >> tivoli, the goal is to keep

them as short duration and as little impact as possible for individual consumers. they would be moved across the system in order to minimize them and our expectation if we got there, we will do everything we possibly cannot to is that they will likely be relatively shorter duration as we move through the evening and eventually, demand starts to taper off. >> pg&e says they try to limit the rotating outages to about one to two hours per customer block. that is made up of several neighborhoods. they say if they need to shut off your power, they will try to notify you through social media or a text or phone call but that is not always possible. you can find more information through their website. >> we're monitoring multiple pg&e power outages right now and more outages occurred within the

hour. of the orange squares on the map, that shows up to 5000 customers about power. right now during an excessive heat warning. you can see locations in concord, pleasant hill, napa, cupertino, morgan hill, sunnyvale. these are not power safety outages and we do not have word on the cause of these outages. pg&e has not announced when the electricity might be restored. >> because the heat affects everyone differently, they have created a risk forecast. it is a scale similar to the air-quality index. from zero to four which is high risk for everyone over an extended time. >> the city of brentwood set a new record high temperature, but despite the oppressive heat, some were surprised to learn that a popular waterpark was closed today.

we spoke with some disappointed families. that waterpark would have come in handy today. >> absolutely. they were all looking forward to it. many kids behind me are enjoying the small waterpark located a couple of feet from city hall and brentwood. five minutes away, the waterpark you just mentioned many kids who showed up were not as lucky. this nine-year-old and 11-year-old don't know each other, but today they have something in common. >> disappointed. >> sad that there closed. it's a hot date. >> they showed up in their bathing suits ready to jump in the water. at first glance, they thought the park was empty. then they realized it was closed. what did you tell your kids? >> it's not a good surprised.

>> he said his kids went to bed last night looking forward to spending a family day at the waterpark. >> you packed this last night? >> yes getting ready and let's go. they were excited. >> in a message to city council members, the department of parks and explained where they had to close the waterpark. they said the forecasted temperature creates an increased risk for the staff working outdoors. he also added on a 15 minute rotation which would be shortness week ago each lifeguard would need to brakes after every two spots and we don't have the staff for that. >> during the summer time it heats up a lot. the majority of people are used to these type of days, but it is harder than usual. >> the city open to several cooling centers for residents.

temperatures in gilroy, it was a priority to seek out some place to be cool on this hot day. people flocked to the outlets, but animals were not as lucky. no air conditioning in the barns at this training facility in the south bay. the south bay heat takes quite a toll on the horses. this according to the co-owner. >> they are more durable than we are, but 85, 90, above 100 it's a little hot for any animal. >> when a heat wave rolls through, the horses enjoy a splash of water. regulating body temperature is critically important for horses and difficult and it is this hot despite being normally active animals to protect them from the heat, they are kept inside out of the sunshine and given plenty of water. keeping them safe is not always that simple.

>> sometimes their brains don't work the same as ours. because it is too hot, maybe the water is a little warm or whatever, sometimes they don't drink as much as they should and that's what can create problems. >> one of this issues is colic when they don't drag as much water. >> their digestive system slows down. they get impacted which means their food is not going through. the horses can die. they can start mild then progress quickly. >> even on labor day, he said his staff remained half -- hard work because the lives of these horses depended on it. >> use your common sense to gauge how much you work them and how much you do or don't. take care of yourself and your horse as well. >> beautiful creatures.

locations. let's take a look at how hot it is. it was 95 degrees earlier in san francisco down to 86 right now. 106 at palo alto. other temperature readings right now, 110 in santa rosa. fairfield 115. it was 99 somewhere in the north bay. that was the only readings not in the triple digits. the dangerous heat wave persists through friday. this will be with us for a while. no significant cooling is likely before the weekend. an excessive heat warning is in effect through thursday evening at 9:00.

the highest temperatures around 115 during the next few days. along the bay shoreline and the coast, a heat advisory until 8:00 p.m. thursday. temperatures could meet or exceed 98 degrees. overnight don't expect to see a marine layer. there will be virtually no cooling effect as low temperatures tonight be at record high levels for overnight lows. there will not be any cooling relief overnight. these are the highs tomorrow. the peninsula highs of 97 in san mateo. downtown san francisco up to 90 degrees if not higher. the north bay all in the triple digits.

114 in cloverdale. the east bay shoreline mainly mid 90's to 101 union city. the inland east bay will sizzle with highs between 112 and 116. here's the 7-day forecast. the heat heat will persist through friday. triple digits inland through the four days. tomorrow through friday low to mid 90's. over the weekend, we finally get cooling relief on saturday. further cooling on sunday. temperatures will be closer to average by monday. the heat is oppressive, there's the heat is oppressive, there's what's the difference between prop 26 and prop 27?
