j.r. stone is following this story and joins us live with a look at how things could play out in court. j.r.: this was a hearing scheduled for friday but got pushed to monday. family members have strong feelings on what they would like to see happen to the suspect. josé rafael solano is behind bars right now in connection to the beheading of a mother of his child. solano will face a judge for the first time in less than 24 hours in san mateo county. >> i want him to rot in jail. j.r.: family members of when he-year-old karina castro are angry and heartbroken, knowing that the mother of two young girls was beheaded. family members have said solano suffers from schizophrenia and that karina had a restraining order against him. legal analyst stephen clark says

that there are two arguments that could play out in court. >> as shocking as it may seem, the horrific public nature of this crime plays into a mental health defense theory. j.r.: but dan noyes uncovered snapchat messages leading up to the crime that got heated. in one, karina threatens to tell the world about his rape commission involving a minor. it continues as karina fires back, saying that you want to put a target on my back? your homies will know the real you. she then threatens to expose his sexual relationship with another man. clark says those snapchat messages could be important for prosecutor if used in court. >> the snapchat evidence will be key for the prosecution. the graphic nature of this killing will play into the

prosecution's theory that this was a man in a rage and wanted to show the world what he was going to do. j.r.: sadly, castro's death has hit the community hard. a vigil on saturday night and some still remembering the young my -- mom on sunday. this court appearance will happen on 1:30 p.m. on monday. as for karina's young girls, they are still in cps attraction, but her family members will go to court to try to get custody from them. dion: moving onto new details tonight, following the arrest of a man who has been accused of killing and abusing a young girl from hayward. police have also arrested three men -- three women helping him evade capture. three acquaintances of devin williams are facing charges of

-- dhante jackson are facing charges of helping him. police say jackson and samantha johnson subjected sophia mason to long-term physical abuse and killed her. her body was found in march. johnson has been in custody since that time. happening right now, take a look. it might be hard to see because of the weather. but the tribute in light is going on in new york city. the annual display is for those who lost their lives when the attack hit the world trade center. today marks 21 years since the attacks on 9/11. this morning, people read the names of those relatives and people killed when the planes hit the twin towers. >> victoria alvarez. >> toma e alvier.

our democracy, democracy that guarantees the right to freedom that those terrorists at 9/11 thought to bury in the fire, smoke, and ash. that takes a commitment from all of us. dion: on september 11, 2001, american airlines flight 77 was hijacked and crashed into the pentagon. that incident killed all the people on the plane and 125 people in the pentagon. first lady jill biden spoke today at the flight 93 memorial in pennsylvania. the people on that flight made the decision to breach the cockpit, stopping the terrorists from crashing into the u.s. capitol. that plane went down in a field, killing everyone on board. two men on the flight were from los gatos. one person is remembering a

these are the forecast futures, partly cloudy overnight. it will be sunnier and less humid tomorrow and a cooler than average week lies ahead. again, we will see the continued flow of tropical moisture into the bay area that are producing overnight clouds tonight into tomorrow. this is going to translate into a dry day tomorrow and a mostly sunny one after early morning clouds. overnight, low temperatures will be in the mid 50's on the coast. inland east bay, lowes will be in the low to mid 60's. upper east bay will be a little higher. san francisco at 69, low to mid 70's around the bay shoreline and mid to upper 80's inland. look at the cooling trend over the next few days. wednesday will be even cooler

area rapid transit system was a goal to create a next-generation transit network. while september 11, 1992, was a great achievement, groundbreaking was easier a few years later, but the initial concept of the system that lines three different counties -- details are included in a book on bart's history written by mike haley. >> there was concern that if the bridge were not there during the wartime, they would need a way to move troops back and forth, and they felt an underwater tube would be the answer to that. david: voters approved a $792 million bond measure to create bart, even though marin and san

mateo counties had pulled out due to cost. in the case of marin, there was no interest in building a second deck on the golden gate bridge for the bart trains. the vote for the bart bond failed to win by a large margin in contra costa. state lawmakers intervened to keep the plan from being derailed. >> the state legislature passed a bill that allowed them to average out the cost for the three counties. had they not done that, it would have been two counties trying to carry that. david: the first rent between macarthur station and fremont. >> it was exciting days for bart and the bay area. david: the reaction was positive from passengers. >> it reminds me of new york when i was living there. david: the fabric covered seats,

dion: the 49ers are facing a class action lawsuit after people had their personal data breached. ticketholders, vendors, and employees may have been affected by the cyberattack. it happened during super bowl week and the team is sending letters to those who may have been impacted. it is offering complementary credit monitoring and identity theft protection. another effect of the largest -- hottest european summer on record. a nearby ski resort in iceland said that the ice melts this year was about three times the annual average. the pass will be completely exposed by the end of the month.
