appropriately. abc's ines de la cuetara begins our coverage from london. ines, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, andrew. before heading to scotland this morning the king will come here to westminister where both houses of parliament will meet to pay tribute to the queen. this morning, britain's new king and queen consort meeting with members of parliament at westminster hall before traveling back to scotland joining other members of the royal family for a procession to st. giles cathedral. >> i can't help but feel the weight of history which surrounds us. >> reporter: the queen's coffin will lie in rest to allow the people of scotland to pay their respects. the qun'final beginning on sunday, her casket, draped in the scotland royal standard, adorned with a wreath of her favorite flowers, leaving her beloved balmoral estate, taking the long road toward edinburgh. >> just important to say good-bye. she's been on the throne for a long time. it means a lot.

on wednesday. members of the public are being warned to expect long lines and security checks. they're also being told to dress appropriately and stay silent once inside westminster hall. >> and ines, we're hearing about extra-tight security about next monday's funeral. the website politico is saying world leaders will have to share buses to westminster abbey. they can't take their own cars, is that right? >> reporter: that's right, guys. according to politico, world leaders are being told they cannot use their own state cars, instead they'll have to be bused over together from a location in west london. the white house has said president biden will attend the funeral, but it's not commented on those latest reports, guys. >> ines, thank you for that. more coverage from london in just a few minutes including the pressure king charles now faces. now to our other top story, the extreme weather, impacting millions of people across the country, from flooding to raging fires, and now even mudslides, more than 20 vehicles reportedly trapped in mud and debris on scenic lake hughes road in north los angeles.

further north, one close call was caught on camera. this morning, more than 8,000 firefighters across california are fighting 11 major fires. the so-called mosquito fire in the tahoe national forest is just 10% contained. threatening thousands of buildings. >> it doesn't take much for flames to quickly kick off. >> reporter: more than 11,000 people forced to evacuate, the fire forming clouds as high as 40,000 feet. the smoke drifting as far as the east coast. >> if winds continue to pick up these flames could potentially expand beyond the fire containment line. >> reporter: this dash cam video showing the treacherous route a sheriff's deputy took to rescue an elderly couple trapped in the town of volcanoville, flames jumping to both sides of the road, but the couple and their dogs now safe. first responders in the air also braving hazardous conditions. seen here using night vision to tackle the fires around the clock. the dangers of the job on full display after this cal fire

helicopter crashed near los angeles while returning from fighting the fire. everyone onboard survived. farther north in oregon, the cedar creek fire has quadrupled in size. forcing the evacuation of more than 2,000 homes. the skies over portland turning orange as dense smoke from multiple fires settled in the area. smoke from fires throughout the northwest have triggered air quality alerts from seattle to idaho. meanwhile, in chicago, what's being described as the worst flooding in the windy city in two years, up to 5 inches of rain inundating streets, stranding drivers and flooding basements. heavy winds toppling trees. >> i looked out the window. i saw it. it's now running in the opposite direction. >> reporter: but the weather not getting the chicago bears down. players belly flopped into the end zone as they beat the 49ers. what's next, we'll take a closer look at today's forecast in just a few minutes. former president trump's legal team is facing another deadline today in the mar-a-lago documents investigation. trump's lawyers must respond to the justice department's latest
