hours, thunderstorms rolling through the east bay, the north bay, those thunderstorms did produce a soaking across the bay area. it is a light level 1 storm. below is still off the coast. still with us. that's going to continue to bring the possibility of thunderstorms. best chance still in the north and east bay tomorrow. lightning, level 1 storm bringing waves and showers off and on through wednesday morning. a possibility of briefly heavy showers and chance of thunderstorms remains in the forecast. a third of an inch of rain in san francisco. half an inch in san jose. when you look at places like ben loman, over two inches. but otto close to three inches of rain -- then otto close to three inches of rain. i will be back to let you know much longer you're going to need umbrellas. >> in the early season, storms brought much-needed rain.

the bay area reached record temperatures during a recent heat wave. the weekend storm put a halt to fire conditions in the bay area for now. >> that puts a pause for a little bit of fire whether concern. we are definitely not out of the woods. just a few days of warm, drier and we are back to critical ando critical. our weather team will be tracking the storm all night. for your morning you can get these live updates every hour on the abc bay area streaming app. >> new at 11:00 it has been a violent evening in oakland. two shootings have claimed the lives of three people in 45 minutes. gunfire broke out in front of a grocery store at the corner of telegraph avenue and 31st street

at 7:45 tonight. three people were wounded, two victims died at the scene. the third person was driven to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 45 minutes later, people recalled -- police were called to 20 3rd avenue in east oakland. they found a person suffering from a gunshot wound lying on the sidewalk. paramedics pronounced victim dead at the scene. homicide investigators are looking into both shootings. we will bring you updates as soon as we learn more. >> we are learning more about the man who was shot and killed at an east bay intersection. family and friends spent part of the day at a streetside memorial in san lorenzo. the killer or killers are still out there. j.r. stone has been on top of the story since it broke and spoke with the victims' now without -- the victim's now widow. reporter: you can see he was all smiles around his wife princess

who he married four months ago in the philippines. princess was on face time with rain heart moments before he was gunned down and killed sunday. >> i cannot sleep here because every time i try to, every time i close my eyes i can hear a lot of gunshots. reporter: deputies believe what happened at this san lorenzo intersection was a case of road rage. princess said someone cut into her husband's lane. >> i tried to stop him. i shouted at him that, no, do not go out from your car. he left me on the phone, the timer is open, and i hear gunshots. that is it. he did not come back. the only one who came was the sheriff. reporter: as he approached the other car, he was shot. deputies say they were in the

area working another case and a sergeant responded within seconds. >> he tried to cater to the victim but the victim was suffering multiple gunshot wounds and mortally wounded at that point. reporter: princess, who is in the philippines, said the two were so excited for what was to come area they had just finished paperwork so she could come live with rain heart in america. >> the hardest part is i'm here in the philippines. i cannot do anything. that's it. i just cry all night. and almost collapsed. every time i'm scrolling my photos it feels like, oh my god. i have no husband anymore. reporter: deputies say there were witnesses, there is video, and they are actively searching for the person or persons who fired those shots. at last check, no arrests have been made.

elaborated on what the president meant. >> the president was reflecting what so many americans are feeling and thinking. we learned how to cope with this virus but make no mistake. people are still dying. reporter: over 400 americans are still dying from covid every day. the overall picture of covid community levels across the country is mostly green, meaning there are low levels of transmission right now. this cdc map also shows several red spots of high levels of transmission. mostly in the midwest, south and northeast of the country. ucsf infectious diseases dr. monica gandhi said the term over is not entirely accurate. >> it just means it is not over in terms of covid being over. it just means the emergency phase. reporter: she has been tracking covid in european countries as a sign of what the u.s. should expect and says we need to manage expectations. >> the u.k. has called covid

shock saying she feels jacob's death is her fault. adding she is unable to sleep at night. the tragedy continuing to replay in her head. she explains she knows -- she knew someday there would be an accident but never did she imagine it would be her and a little one. >> everybody feels like this could have been their child and your heart goes out to the family. you want to be able to do something reporter: by monday residents put out their own safety signs and flags for crossing. while some drivers slowed down out of confusion, neighbors were overall grateful people were at least slowing down. calling on the city to install speed bumps, stop signs, anything to keep the kids in the community safe. >> it is one thing to say this was such a tragedy and we are going to make sure it does not happen again. it is another thing to do it. reporter: we found jacob's father at the memorial leaving a

message left for family. >> it is very sad and very close to home. reporter: he grieving community taking safety to their own hands. we reached out to san jose's department of transportation. part of the city's plans include collecting traffic data to see whether a stop sign is needed at this location. crews will be out here at 8:30 a.m. tuesday to repaint the crosswalk. >> a memorial service for queen elizabeth ii will be held in the u.s. at the washington national cathedral wednesday. . the event will be held in conjunction with the british embassy. kamala harris will be intendants. president biden -- kamala harris will be in attendance. president biden will not be at the ceremony. dignitaries were sent invitations to the ceremony. it is known as the podcast that set off the true crime craze.

a new episode of cereal will be released tomorrow now that the suspect accused in the case is walking out of jail as a free man for now. a judge vacated the conviction of adnan syed, who was a teenager when he was convicted in 19 and nine -- 1990 nine of murdering his girlfriend. the podcast presented new evidence there could be other suspects. >> we are declaring in the interest of fairness and justice he is entitled to a new trial. >> prosecutors have 30 days to decide whether to retry the case. adnan syed served 23 years of a life sentence. he always maintained his innocence with the debut of the podcast in 2014. >> governor newsom has signed a bill that would reduce the carbon footprint of dying. starting 2027 californians can opt to decompose naturally instead of being buried or cremated.

flash flood warning watches around parts of the sierra nevada and parts of the sacramento valley. in the bay area i want to show you the rainfall from yesterday exceeding monthly averages in just one day. one daily record in downtown oakland, they received 15 hundredths of an inch. the previous record was 13 hundredths. many areas were well above average for this time of year. temperatures right now in the 50's and 60's. i want to show you a live picture from our golden gate bridge camera. still a few damp spots even though the bridge is dry. a possibility of showers and risk of thunderstorms tomorrow. it remains unsettled through wednesday morning and autumn arrives thursday with warmer weather appropriately. it is a one on our storm impact scale. showers, possibly briefly heavy, and still the possibility of thunderstorms. tomorrow morning, you might see
