4:00 pm
news this don't make no sense of shooting at a whole school. clearly. we are in serious trouble when we have bullets flying in our schools, and i'm very concerned about these situations and you know, what are we gonna do about this? several people shot and injured at an oakland school today the gunman possibly all still on the loose right now. good afternoon. i'm kristen z and i'm dan ashley. thank you for joining us for our continuing coverage of this shooting that happened in east oakland at a school campus that contains three schools. in fact, it's on the 8200 block of fontaine street again in east oakland. we have team coverage for you abc 7 news reporter liam. melendez is speaking to parents. ryan curry is a highland hospital where victims were taken, but we're going to begin with abc 7 news reporter tim johns tim. yeah, dan chris, and i've been out here for hours now. just talking to parents talking to staff members as you can see one of those schools is just
4:01 pm
behind me here and we have seen dozens of people streaming out of here over the hours and so many people have are just angry frustrated upset not knowing what they were gonna find when their kids showed up when they came to get their kids. i should say taught to grandmothers talk to parents talk to one man in particular who's picking up his four year old daughter who said she was blissfully unaware of what was going on thankfully, but once you guys listen to some of what he said to me so i come at this time normally to pick up my daughter and the streets were closed off and the police said they're gonna bring my just gonna cart everybody down the street and i just knew that was in the case. i heard about the shooting at the high school and my daughter to elementary school. so i just had to figure out a hey to come and come and grab did you have any fears any thoughts running through your mind? obviously your daughter. she's so young. hey, you're anxious. i mean you hear about this happening all the time. my new was a high school. so there was likely no issue with my daughter, but this is the closest it's ever got home.
4:02 pm
so it's a it's a surreal feeling and you start to feel panic. you're like i just want to get to my daughter streets are closed off park at the bottom of the hill walked up, you know, just got to do what you got to do to put your your eyes on your child and then go from there. i know obviously your daughter amara. she said she's just four years old. she might not really be cognizant of what's going on. how was she when you picked her up. did she seem unless clueless fortunately clueless. she just happy to see her dad and not even curious as to sort of why we doing a different routine today. she hasn't hasn't connected yet which is which is good. we'll probably just keep it that way and i know sir you say that this is something that happens. unfortunately a lot not just here in the bay area, but around our country as a parent. is it something that you worry about assisting now that has hit a little bit closer to home it is i have four other children that go to another school and last year. we started thinking through and talking to the school about what's your what's the what's the protocol when a school of shooting happens? and do they have policies in place wasn't quite as tight as we'd like my daughter just started to go into this school
4:03 pm
local academy. eks ago, so we're not abreast of what the protocol is on a shooting seems like they handed it well today, but it's now, you know top of mind. and guys one thing i want to pick up on there is what he said when he said, you know, this is just something i never thought would happen here. you hear about this all the time other places around the country even other places here in california, but we never thought this would happen at this school at my child school that something i have heard repeatedly from so many parents here. we're still just in a state of shock one mother telling me she goes i didn't know what i was gonna get when i came to pick up my son and i'm not a parent myself. i know many of us at abc 7 and many of our viewers certainly are i just i can't imagine the type of fear that that must just strike in the very core of your being saying one mother telling me, you know, i just had to hold my child and that those words just so powerful something. i've heard just repeatedly out here. we are waiting for more information from the oakland
4:04 pm
police department sometime in the next half hour. so we are gonna stay out here and wait for that. hopefully, we'll be able to bring you guys some more details very soon. but for now, i'm live in east oakland and john's tim. thank you. nice job. all of us with children as you suggest jimmy can't even imagine what that sense of fear and panic if you get that call would be like yeah, we want to go out to 87 news reporter liam melendez right now. she has spoken to both parents grandparents community organizers andlso council from so many people many of whom have almost a new sense of resolve to do something different to stop this from happening again. absolutely, dan, but i want to clarify before that. there are actually four schools on that campus. but yes as you mentioned technically there are three because that fourth one is an independent study program. so no students were on site, but the students from the other three schools were brought here at this church saint or outside
4:05 pm
saint cuthbert's episcopal church just to be reunited with their parents at a lot of them were here. in the parking lot area and it was a sight to see it was very powerful very emotional to see there the parents are hugging their kids and just being there for him in that sense of relief right when they showed up but you know, and then you had the teachers right the teachers the principles the staff all in the you know, myth myth of amid this confusion. i'm might add, you know, just trying to make sense of all of this one of the people who showed up here was a community leader here nina carter and you know what i got from her was that sense of frustration anger about all these shootings happening in oakland and nothing seems to change listen to what she had to say. what what are the calling you
4:06 pm
obviously that they scared and they not safe and education is not important. they life is not value. so they telling us all kind of stuff but nobody is listening to the kids. and so you know, what stood out again for me here spending several hours with all these people here with the students, you know, was that sense of also being very afraid, you know. it seems like that school may or may not open tomorrow, you know, one of the council members said that it wasn't going to open tomorrow. we'll see but you know, you practically see an empty lot right now and that's because the teachers and staff were have been allowed to return to the school and this happened just about five minutes ago because a lot of them had left their personal belongings remember they were quickly evacuated what
4:07 pm
many of them wanted to again get their stuff get their cars out of there and they have just been within the last five minutes. i might say we're allowed to go back to the school to retrieve their stuff right now at the moment. we also saw a chaplain from the oakland police department, and i asked them, you know father. what are you doing here? what what are you telling people? and he said i'm just approaching people and to ask them how they're feelingre and i'm here to help. so again, just a lot of frustration from this community anger understandably so about what has been happening here and that sense of like what can we do? what can we do to solve this issue? it's and and the consensus here. it has to stop and it has to stop. now back to you guys a lot of frustration as well as a fear and anxiety there because we keep seeing this happening again
4:08 pm
and again, before you go though, i would like to see if you can give us a sense for what they say, right? they say it's got to stop but what are the solutions as they see it because we've been reporting on oakland chief laurel armstrong saying you'll be adding officers right and more senior officers more in the criminal investigations unit. but is that the path they see as being what will help these kids. i think a lot of people said to me today we need to put more resources into the schools into our children. i said, well, what does that mean? well more programs. they didn't necessarily meet say let's bring more police officers. remember, you know the history here. is that oakland? which for the a very long time had a police their own police department here within the oakland unified school district that has been gone that the community wanted that god and
4:09 pm
the police academy is also there was there was talk about reducing the academies. so we're not yet. they're hearing parents say or teachers say, you know, we want more police what i did hear was we need more more sense of security. within the schools programs support and we need it now where you know, it could be from the state. it could be from the federal government, but oakland, they say clearly is in need of help. okay. leanne thank you very much. let's go down to abc 7 news reporter ryan curry live at highland hospital. what have you learned ryan? hey, dan. hey, kristen, we're expecting really in any moment now an update from hospital officials regarding the condition of the members who are being treated inside highland hospital. they say there are three people currently in critical condition here at highland hospital that were involved in that shooting earlier this afternoon. we do know that there were six
4:10 pm
victims total and three of them are being treated here. we got here around the afternoon time in some members of the alameda county sheriff's office and the local police departments wall the difference between being treated inside and what we're waiting on right now from hospital officials is really just an update from those inside. they mentioned they were in critical condition, but we need to know if that condition has changed in any sort of fast if possible if they are now in any more of a stable condition or if they are still in critical condition, that is what we're waiting on right now, they kept pushing that information back further and further throughout the afternoon what they mentioned us right now is that they don't want people to congregate here at the hospital due to privacy reasons they want able to respect the privacy of the families of the victims were being treated right now, but when we got that update earlier this afternoon, there wasn't a whole lot to share and here's what hospital officials said during that first update early this afternoon. received three patients from the
4:11 pm
east oakland school shooting. we're asking everybody who has any concerns or questions to please not come congregate here at the hospital. now you mentioned there being the potential possibility of victims being students now, we don't know that for sure. we're waiting to confirm that right now. we do know that the victims are adults and three of them are being treated here at hyla hostel. they are in critical condition. we don't know the extent of what their wounds are or what type of injuries they did suffer as results of that shooting, but we do know that they are being treated here and we're waiting and update hopefully the next few minutes and once we get that update, we will provide that to you once it happens. we're live here at highland hospital ryan curry abc 7 news. and kristen all right, ryan. thank you so much. and of course, we hope to get more just in a little bit from ryan. yeah, we're on top of this. we're going to hear from all of our reporters as well as school officials and police. remember we sent out a push alert when used broke about this shooting with a link to our 24/7 live stream.
4:12 pm
we've been streaming non-stop live coverage for the past two and a half hours since this happened if you want to get the latest live breaking news as it happens, make sure you download the abc 7 news app for your mobile phone and then be sure to enable the push alerts so we can let you know immediately stay here with us more coverage in just a m your brain is an amazing thing. but as you get older, it naturally begins to change, causing a lack of sharpness, or even trouble with recall. thankfully, the breakthrough in prevagen helps your brain and actually improves memory.
4:13 pm
4:15 pm
and the 8200 block of fontaine street, wherever schools are located. we know that six adults 18 years of age and older were wounded three of them are in critical condition one. apparently a carpenter working on the site. it's been reported was caught on the crossfire. but the situation can continues we don't know kristen exactly who was shot. we don't know if any of the injured were involved in the shooting itself or if a suspect or suspects are still at large. we do. hope to hear more about that when oakland police department holds its next briefing scheduled to be in the next half hour. so, but we did hear briefly from the oakland police department just a short time ago and here's what they had to say. just want to give a quick update on the incident that occurred up here today. so a little bit after 12:45 officers responded to shots being fired or possible shots being fired in the area of 8200 fontaine street upon arrival our
4:16 pm
officers located six victims with a parent gunshot wounds. all those victims were transported to local hospitals where they're conditions right now are currently unknown. we are asking all the public to please avoid the area as this is still an act of crime scene if anyone does have video or may have witnesses. we're please ask them to contact the police department for all the parents who are trying to pick up children. we're asking them to please meet their children at the church located at fountain in church. and that's all for now. that's all for now, but more coming. that's captain johnson of the oakland police department. we want to turn to abc 7 news reporter under hassan live at eden medical center. and so what do you know about the patients there? dan and kristen, good afternoon. we're told that three of the victims were brought to eat a medical center here in castro valley. i was told one was treated and may have been released. the other two are said to be instable condition now behind me you can see the emergency vehicle exit that we have seen oakland police cars come and go through here. the hospital is not allowing any media on the premises.
4:17 pm
we were at the hospital earlier, but then escorted off the premises by security. we're still awaiting an update from the hospital with what they have to say about the patients that are still here as we' the r victims. we're taking to highland and oakland where they're said to be in critical condition oakland police also saying the majority of these victims are adults. so again, we're still awaiting an update from the hospital and we hope to have that soon. of course, we'll continue to bring you the very latest as it becomes available reporting live on san jose abc 7 news. all right answer. thank you. we're also hearing some of the first radio traffic from first responders just after the shooting happened this from oakland fire and the chp listen to what was being said at the time. there are six shots outside an inside the school. the chancery two or three colors so kitty about it and all of the
4:18 pm
college thing they heard the shot. and you're yelling in the background and crying inside of the school? we have eyes. i got another rp on the line. this thing is three victims one with heavy bleeding the other two are not serious bleeding. here we're taking them out to the front. investments talking with interest looks like we might have a total of five patients. i contacted ems supervisor to order me a two additional annualizes. well thousands of people have fallen victim to gun violence whether you have lost a loved one or have been a victim of gun violence yourself. we have found ways to help visit abc 7 and right now we're taking a live look from sky 7 over the scene at the sojourno truth independent study school, which is part of this king estate
4:19 pm
complex that has other schools as well dan. yeah, it apparently has the sojourner truth independent. no students there. it's they're working remotely bay tech charter school rudsdale newcomer high school and red steel continuation high school. so it's a complex of schools on this so called king estate campus on fontaine street in east oakland where this occurred. about three hours ago or so. yeah employees are still on the scene keller avenue on ramp off-ramp still closed there off of 580 and students and for the most part been reunited with their families and have left the scene. we don't have details about the gunman how many whether any of them were actually shot themselves or they've all gotten away or fled and we also don't have an idea as to the motivation as well one of the council members mentioned the word retaliation, but again, nothing from police about that and earlier a police lieutenant who had said possibly targeted is actually now saying maybe that's not the case. it's evolving very quickly
4:20 pm
obviously information changing quickly. so a lot of lack of clarity. yeah a lot of lack of clarity, of course, you would expect that in a situation like this that happened so quickly and creates such frantic emotion. there are also reports out there that it was there some sort of altercation beforehand. so there are a lot of possible scenarios that would lead to some something like this, but the bottom line is someone or several people pulled guns started shooting. we're hearing reports of at least two people caught in the crossfire adults that were hurt. they're no small children involved that we're injured everyone hurt. we understand the six of our people injured are adults 18 years of age and older three take into highland hospital in critical condition and surgery three more with less severe injuries taken to ethical eden medical center in castro valley, but as christian as christian says, we still just don't know exactly what went down today. we just know that it is another incident of mass shooting.
4:21 pm
4:22 pm
4:23 pm
4:24 pm
other major breaking news that we're following this on the east coast hurricane ian now lashing the state of florida a very powerful storm. yeah first came the winds and now you're gonna have torrential downpour rain for a long time more than one and a half million customers already without power in florida and the pain is just starting dan. look at this. yeah, and this is of course, you know hurricanes don't usually kill a lot of people because you have time to get out of the way. most of the damage is done by the storm surgeon, which is what you're seeing. this so-called wall of water. it's not really a wall of water but a lot of water and this storm surge is something around 10 feet comes inland and just
4:25 pm
causes all kinds of damage then of course you have the winds that tear things up as well, but you know what results here is weeks and months and sometimes even years of clean up after something like this, right? so so much damage possible so much flooding possible sandia. let's talk about this. this was almost a cat 5 as a hit land, right? yeah. it was a cat for when it made landfall this afternoon, kristin and dan and we're taking a look at a live picture right now that you were just looking at the national hurricane center says wind gusts of 104 to 132 miles an hour have been reported just in recent hours because see how shaky that camera is hurricane ian just dumping rain on that region 15 to 30 inches of rain is expected across the florida area. it made landfall near kaya costa, florida this afternoon as a cat four tornado watch boxes are up right now and as you see the eye of the storm, i mean, it has been a slow mover which is part of the problem. hurricane ian is now a category 3. it came on board with winds of
4:26 pm
150 miles an hour right now. the winds are down category 3, but gus are still strong 180 miles an hour. we take a look at its path. comes a category 1 as it continues to interact with land going into thursday and then it emerges over the atlantic and then recurves towards the carolinas. so this is what's going to happen. it is going to be so slow that the rainfall it's already inundating much of florida. they are going to see rainfall totals on the order of 12 15 inches isolated areas up to 30 inches of rain numerous watches and warnings are in effect for that region for obvious reasons. our weather is quite quiet as you will notice just some clouds low clouds on live doppler 7 right near the coastline. those temperatures did come up a few degrees low to mid 80s inland low 60s coast side. you will notice the temperatures first thing in the morning in the upper 40s to the upper 50s. there will be some fog just like this morning and then in the afternoon, it's going to be a mild to warm one warmer than
4:27 pm
today upper 80s inland upper 60s coast side accuweather 7-day forecast showing you warmer warmer weather the next two days. before the temperatures drop we may see a little drizzle saturday morning before we bottom out on sunday with below average temperatures again, and then we'll go back up. to a slightly warmer pattern as we had towards early next week, dan and kristen and into october. yes, so nice for us. alright, sandia. thank you. all right back here. kevin: i've fought wildfires for twenty years.
4:28 pm
here's the reality we face every day. this is a crisis. we need more firefighters, more equipment, better forest management to prevent wildfires and reduce toxic smoke. and we need to reduce the tailpipe emissions that are driving changes to our climate. that's why cal fire firefighters, the american lung association, and the california democratic party support prop 30. prevent fires. cut emissions. and cleaner air. yes on 30.
4:30 pm
bay area moving forward finding solutions. this is abc 7 news. back to our breaking news at least six people injured. more shooting in oakland this afternoon and we're told some are in critical condition. that's right. let's go to abc 7 news reporter ryan curry live at highland hospital. what have you learned ryan? yeah, good afternoon. we are waiting aid update from an official from the hospital coming really any minute now. we just actually got told from the spokesperson from the hospital who came down saying the ceo of the alameda county health system will be providing a statement on the condition of the victims being treated here at the hospital. we do know there are three of them at the hospital right now,
4:31 pm
and they're currently in critical condition that information though was provided to us a few hours ago. so we are waiting to see if there's any sort of changes to the condition of the victims being treated here and once we find that information, we will provide it to you when we got here this afternoon. there are obviously a lot of members of the alameda county sheriff's office and the oakland police department here on scene when those victims were inside being treated and then that's when we got the update about their condition right now. so our biggest concerns right now when we get this update moments to go is in a few moments from now is really what their condition is going to be if there are any sort of changes to that. we know there are six victimse . critical condition, unfortunately, and we're just trying to wait to see if there's any sort of update on what their status is. and once we do find that update we will provide it to you guys. okay, ryan, we have three people in critical taken there because it's a trauma center and they could get immediate help the other three take into eden medical center some distance away and castro valley. we're just learning that one of
4:32 pm
those has been at eden has been treated and released and what christian you heard with the stable condition it's two others are unstable condition. and that's all they would say right now. also not giving the ages or the sex and and all that and what their relationship is, but they are from this particular incident well again, east oakland on the king of state campus which houses several schools a shooting at about 1:30 or so this afternoon involved six people being injured three critically three with less severe injuries all of the victims even those this happened in a school area in a school area. all of the victims are adults 18 if you 18 years of age and older, so no little kids. all right now we want to go back out to oakland police where they're holding in news conference and the assistant chief with the oakland police department. and i want to begin by saying that. our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families?
4:33 pm
in this incident i want again by saying that anytime there's a shooting in our our community. it's a complete tragedy. but as a parent. i completely understand the fear. the emotion the panic the shootings are occurring at our schools with their young children. and it's completely holy unacceptable. just after 12:45 in the afternoon. morocco communications division report of a shooting at a school need 200 block of fontaine this is the king of state school that houses four different schools on campus ranging from middle school to high school. when officers arrived on scene they responded there along with alameda county sheriff's deputies and kind of formula highway patrol officers. we're all immediately made entry into the school. they began looking for any suspects.
4:34 pm
any victims attending to victims while at the same time escorting students and staff out of harm's way. you know. six adults individuals 18 and over who have some affiliation with the school? we're determined to be suffering from gunshot wounds. they're all transported to local hospitals. the last update is two individuals. we're suffering life-threatening injuries. one individual was released. to were pending release. and the remainder looking at non-life threatening injuries. at this time are clear of the school is completed and we are determined that the school is all clear of any suspect individuals. we are currently and actively
4:35 pm
looking for at least one shooter. although there may be other individuals involved. we have our ceasefire teams as well as our violent crime operations teams actively in this moment following up on leads looking to bring to justice those responsible for this heinous act. we're asking for people community members who may have information about this incident the police contact the oakland police department. during this incident we did establish a reunification center at mountain fundain to reunify kids children with their family members and loved ones. at this time we have not received any reports. from families regarding any outstanding children at this time. we do have also chaplains after you finish reunification center. understanding again the trauma associated with these incidents. any updates that we receive regarding this incident will be posted on social media.
4:36 pm
currentl o investigators are on scene and we are working with our law enforcement partners, particularly our atf as part of this investigation. and we are looking at any other follow-up associated with this incident. i do want to. identify and recognize that these are dangerous dynamic and volatile situations. and i want to express my heartful gratitude and recognize the bravery of our law enforcement professionals are open police officers. who serve your community who responded and entered the school they try and mitigate these threats along with the bravery of our law enforcement partners of the sheriff's department at california highway patrol who drone joined him in those efforts. at this time, i know there may be many questions. this is an ongoing and active investigation that we are following up on leads on but i will answer a couple questions.
4:37 pm
right now we believe that the shooting was within proximity and in the threshold of the campus. our investigations are looking into all aspects of the responsible motivating factors for this incident. we were pulling the information together at this time and as soon as we can release information to the public on individuals who are one for this crime, we will push that information out. describe it happened at the rudsdale portion of the king of states overall campus. we believe that the victims were affiliated with the school and we were determining their exact affiliation at this time. does that mean like do we think victims went into the help?
4:38 pm
the loose term that outside the school was that me we know that we encountered victims inside the school. and we are looking at all the circumstances surrounding when the incident started and when it entered or if it entered a deep into the school, we're looking into all aspects of information regarding the shooting. we're still gathering. we'll push it out in forthcoming as far as suspects and individuals what they can know now is that there is no suspects on scene. we don't have anybody in custody at this time for the shooting, but we are absolutely following up on leads. to my knowledge. yes, they do. i can't confirm any of that information at this time.
4:39 pm
we were looking at gathering all evidence all of entry leads. all right. thank you very much for your time. we will push out more information as it comes available. all right, that was oakland police giving us the latest information and dan we did learn a few new details in this particular case. we understand. shooting took place at the rudsdale portion of this campus. are we going to listen? let's listen to john sasaki as well who was with oakland unified school district. he's the spokesperson and hopefully he'll give us more details with regard to the students. what are your thoughts well, you know. look this this has been a rough year in oakland. but it doesn't define us. it doesn't define the school district doesn't define the city. you know as you in the media know people that commit this kind of incident very few people in the city of oakland do this kind of thing, and we wanted to stop we want our community to come together. we want help from the media.
4:40 pm
we want help them city government we want help from the nonprofit agencies churches. everybody needs to come together to make this stop is cannot keep happening in our city. so, please everybody needs to do everything we can to ensure that our kids are loved our supported and that anybody who would engage in this realizes there's always a better choice to make this is the wrong choice under any circumstance. so we hope that we can come together as a city and make sure that this is the last of it. what happened today was was wrong. it was very it was it was traumatic. it was devastating to our school community was devastating to our district. we have a board meeting tonight. i know that they're gonna be talking about this tonight as well because this has to stop our city cannot keep going on like this. this. it has to stop. sorry what? i didn't hear everything that
4:41 pm
the police told you. yeah, so i can't go into any more detail than that. that has yet to be determined. i can't give you any more on as far as the investigation goes. you're gonna really have to talk the police about that. i don't want to step on their toes and i actually don't have any more information than they do here. we you know when something like this happens, it's very fluid situation and you know and first and foremost we have to secure the campus. we have to ensure that people who are there who are not directly involved in what happened are safe. of course, we have to get to people who are involved to to the hospital if that's what needs to happen. and so there is a process we have to go through before we can
4:42 pm
actually get everything out to our school community. so there may have been a bit of a delay and if there are people who are upset with that they can talk to me, you know, i'm the one in charge of getting those that information out and we did have a bit of a delay, but it was because we were making sure that this the situation is secure the school was secure and and everybody was being taken care of. absolutely. we have counseling available already. we'll have counseling from the school itself and from district the district district offices there ready to support all of our students staff families anybody who needs support through to get through this obviously. it's a very traumatic incident for everybody. at generally in our high schools. we have our culture keepers. who are you know act in support of our students to ensure that the day stay safe on our campuses obviously not having our our own police department
4:43 pm
does change things for us, but we have a very good close relationship with opd. they've been fantastic to us ensuring that the situation was was handled very quickly, but you know, it's it is in any case where something like this happens. there's going to be a period where we have to kind of work through, you know, because we don't have oakland school district spokesperson johnson, but now at highland hospital we're three of the victims we're taking in critical condition and use conferences being held we want to switch over and listen in there. two of the gunshot victims are critical but stable. and the third is in stable condition. this is an extraordinarily difficult time for us. but i want to take a moment and just thank the caregivers the trauma team here at the alameda health system have done an extraordinary job and they they continue to that's what they do, but this is a problem in 2021 and 2022 we've seen.
4:44 pm
almost a doubling of the violent crimes victims that we're seeing here at our facility. so something has changed. i'm a son of oakland i grew up in oakland. this is not the oakland that i grew up in. i'm calling on community leaders. and i'm prepared to lean in myself. we've got to do differently we've got to do something better. so that's our statement more information will be coming as it's available. but that's where we are right now. i am not at liberty to divulge the the sex of the individuals who were shot. i'm sorry. that is unknown. we don't have that information. emotional time how did this one i guess feel differently from. perspective we're the level one trauma center for alameda
4:45 pm
county. we unfortunately see this business all the time. it feels differently when it you know, there is a school proximate to an event like this. and so that that does hit a little differently, but the fact is this is what we do we'll continue to treat this community. what i'm asking for is in a proactive way for us to come together as leaders in this community to try to stem the tide of violence. i apologize. i'm not going to be able to take any more questions more information as it becomes available will be shared with you. but thank you for being here today and thanks for your concern. there will be more updates whether it will be me or our media team, but we will continue to provide updates as they're available. all right. you know, i appreciate the question. i'm not able at this point to go into that. i really frankly the team needs to stay focused on caring for these folks, but we will be making more definitive statements about what we're prepared to do about violence. i'm being taken off the mic i'm being pulled away from the mic

i'm karen. i'm living with hiv and i'm on cabenuva. for adults who are undetectable, cabenuva is the only complete, long-acting hiv treatment you can get every other month. it's two injections from a healthcare provider. i really like the flexibility. and for me, it's one less thing to think about while traveling. don't receive cabenuva if you're allergic to its ingredients or if you taking certain medicines, which may interact with cabenuva. serious side effects include allergic reactions post-injection reactions, liver problems, and depression. if you have a rash and other allergic reaction symptoms, stop cabenuva and get medical help right away. tell your doctor if you have liver problems or mental health concerns, and if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or considering pregnancy. some of the most common side effects include

injection-site reactions, fever, and tiredness. if you switch to cabenuva, attend all treatment appointments. ready to treat your hiv in a different way? ask your doctor about every-other-month cabenuva. with every-other-month cabenuva, i'm good to go. life is busy. so, come to shell and get three things done at once. first, fill up with shell v-power nitro+ to help keep your engine running like new. nice! then save up with the fuel rewards program and never pay full price for gas again. oh wow! and, finally, snack up to save even more at the pump. that's great! make the most of the stop you need to make with shell. wait! there's three of me? awesome!
