comes just four days after six people were shot out oakland road still high school. abc7 news reporter cornell barnard spoke with a neighbor who is still processing the aftermath. >> that is the worst part of it, a celebration and then people die. reporter: this neighborhood did not want to go on camera lives only steps from the bright blue house on the street in oakton where there was a party last night attended by a group of teens. >> a few hours before everything happened, an suv pulled up with a handful of kids and they got out. they were probably like 16 or 17 years old. a few hours later i was in my ribbing room. i heard 10 or 12 rapidfire shorts and a bunch of kids screaming. reporter: she says a car made a fast getaway and many of the teens made their way down the street, some of the wounded leaving a trail of blood. crime scene cleaners spent hours removing blood from the sidewalks stretching nearly a block. >> whatever and whoever it was

definitely just unloaded into that house. reporter: oakland police say two teens were killed, two others injured, but they are expected to survive. a suspect or suspects, are still at large. >> it's a preliminary investigation into the homicide scene. we're looking at different stages of the homicide. reporter: the berkeley unified school district confirming the tragic news that both victims were students at berkeley high school. in a statement, officials said because these were two of our own, we are feeling this pain collectively, and must hold each other especially close and care for one another. the district sending condolences to the families, and says grief counselors will be available to students and staff on monday. >> it's terrible. very heartbreaking. reporter: meantime,, neighbors still processing the aftermath of the violence. >> i can't imagine what those kids are going to be experiencing about this.

the trauma will be quite difficult to process, i am sure. reporter: reporter: in oakland, cornell barnard, abc7 news. dion: a community group is organizing a vigil starting at 7 p.m. at the middle school in berkeley. and oakland police officer is recovering after being hit by a car this morning near 52nd and wentworth avenue. police say officers approached the vehicle that had been stopped in the middle-of-the-road. they say the driver was unconscious. when officers woke up that driver, he sped away, hitting one officer during the getaway. the officer was taken to the hospital. oakland skyline hospital forfeited friday night football game following a fight between teammates. windsor high schools coach told the san jose democrat that it was because of a fight on the scale and campus this week that sent one player to the hospital. a spokesperson would only confirm that there was a conflict on campus. there has been a possible break in the case of alexis gabe, the

24-year-old oakley woman who police say was murdered by her boyfriend. but her body has not been found. the gabe family yesterday went to the location where the bones were found, and they say a $100,000 reward has enlisted over 700 volunteers to help in the search. >> they are actively searching right now, and that is why we are always getting a tip. every time they see something, they message us. dion: alexis gabe went visiting on january 26 after visiting her boyfriend, marshall jones, in antioch. police say alexis was killed by jones. he was killed by officers while attempting to serve him and arrest warrant in june. a vandal defaced a catholic parish office in palo alto. it happened at the st. thomas aquinas pastoral center on middlefield road. someone used pink spray paint to ventilate the garden area.

the suspect wrote a phrase of white racial superiority on a wall, and spray-painted a statute. police are investigating it as a hate crime. it all happened between september 18 and september 24. there has been no arrests. moving on to developing news now, the search is on for hurrican ian survivors in southwest florida tonight. ian has claimed nearly 80 lights so far in florida, and at least four more in north carolina. president biden will be traveling to the disaster zone on wednesday. abc7 news reporter reena roy shows as recovery efforts underway. reporter: a race against the clock across southwest florida. fire and rescue teams combing areas hit hardest by hurrican ian, traversing dangerous floodwaters, searching for anyone who might be trapped. first responders and f.e.m.a. on the ground, but also, regular citizens hoping to help. >> we decided to go in because the water levels have been going up.

reporter: this former navy seal mobilizing his own crew to rescue people, including betty reynolds of sanibel island, who couldn't leave her flooded home. >> i didn't think it was bad at all, until the water started coming in. it came up about four feet in the house. so i have been living upstairs. reporter: this high school in fort myers, turned into a shelter. satellite images showing fort myers beach before the storm and now, the destruction that remains in its wake. >> fort myers beach no longer exists. it will have to be rebuilt. it was a slice of florida that you can't recapture. >> i have lost everything. my life, my tools, everything. reporter: long, snaking lines of cars waiting for essentials like food and water. >> this will be a long road to recovery. there are a lot of people impacted. we will continue to bring in resources to meet the needs. reporter: president biden will visit the area on wednesday to survey the destruction himself. he has vowed to do whatever it

takes to help the state recover. reena roy, abc news, naples, florida. dion: we are seeing the highest weekly gas price increase of any state in the country. the bay area gas price, according to center -- the highest gas price in our area is in san rafael, according to aaa. governor newsom on friday called for a wonderful tax on oil companies that would go directly back to california taxpayers. he also directed an early transition to winter bland gasoline, which is asserted to increase oil supplies by 5% to 10%, and drop gas prices. much more to come tonight, including making a court case out of creative expression. we will look at a new law in california, a first for the country that ensures creative content like the rigs and music videos can't be used against artists in court. and a reason to cheer today in the castro.

dion: dion: there are concerns of a possible serial killer tonight. stockton police say one person may be linked to a string of homicides in the area since july. detectives say five men were killed with similarities. investigators released a surveillance photo of a person of interest. the city of stockton is offering a reward for information leading to an arrest. a new state law is going into effect living the use of rap lyrics as evidence in criminal court cases. governor gavin newsom signed the bill making the change. that legislation seeks to ensure that the use of an accused persons creative expression will not be used to introduce stereotypes or activate bias against the defendant in court. the controversial practice was criticized earlier this year, when rap lyrics were used as part of the alleged evidence in a grand jury indictment in georgia that led to the arrest of hip-hop artist young thug.

in support of a cure for breast cancer today. organizers say the walk has raised $300,000 so far, with the goal of $350,000. the more than pink walk is the signature fundraising event for the foundation. it celebrates survivors living with breast cancer and honors loved ones lost to the disease. the event coincides with the start of breast cancer awareness month across the country. good news is that it was great weather for the event and it should be for the rest of fleet week. spencer: almost like we planned it. i hate to give away the full forecast so early, -- i was going to do it if you hadn't.
