moving forward finding solutions. this is abc 7 news. it seems that this person or persons is very focused on the killing and very calm and confident afterwards. tonight the search continues for a possible serial killer in stockton who is now claimed the lives of six men as we hear from the mother of one of the victims. good evening. i'm on a date and i'm dave ashley. thank you for joining us people in stockton understandably remain on edge some even say they're making changes to stay safe with a killer on the loose abc 7 news reporter answer hassan is in stockton tonight and joins us live with the latest answer. i'm on dan good evening. stockton police. chief says the suspect or suspects is the killer on a mission. he says he attacks in dark locations and areas where there

are no witnesses. we spoke to one family with the bay area connection. they say based on these patterns. they've made some big changes to their daily routine. stockton police chief stanley mcfadden says his department is dealing with a serial killer who's on a mission. i'm missing the kill, you know at these scenes. there's been you know wallets keys, you know, this person could easy take in vehicles could take in money credit cards, but none of that stuff has been taken chief mcfadden was interviewed on gma3. he says there's been seven shootings six fatal as he explains the woman who survived the shooting has been extremely helpful creating a suspect profile. she did let us know it was a male suspect she was able to provide us a heightened weight and that's what we connected with the video that we're pushing out that surveillance video shows a person of interest with the distinct limp police have placed the person of interest at several of the shootings. please say they don't have a

motive, but there are some similarities with each shooting. it's very dark locations. it's locations where there's not very many witnesses around. it's okay cases where it's over saddled by trees, you know, this is a person that that lurks and the shadows please say most of the victims have been ambushed late at night and most are latino based on those patterns. the alvarado family is making big changes. my dad is the one that he commutes to the bay area. so he's the one that wakes up, you know, three four in the morning to go commute. so it's been our concern with him, especially seeing that he's been we're hispanics and males have been mainly the ones in targeting karen alvarado says they're installing security cameras around their house and making sure their dad parks in the driveway to make sure that we can at least see what's going on and we telling him, you know go in and out real quick. no staying in the car. no, just like hanging out. just do what you need to do and head out.

stockton police say they're working with state and federal officials on this case. 125,000 reward is being offered to anyone with tips that leads to an arrest reporting live ansar hassan abc7 news. all right, i'm sure thanks very much and tonight. we are hearing from the mother of the youngest victim 21 year old jonathan hernandez rodriguez reporter mary cella de la cruz has that story? tinto was an empty house. that's how we didiana rodriguez describes her home after the death of her 21 year old son, jonathan hernandez rodriguez known by many as johnny. she says that although at times silent colomeric everything inside their home reminds her of him. johnny is a youngest victim in a series of killings most of which have happened in stockton. she recalled the morning of august 30th when her son's body was found inside his car you're okay. her husband called to notify her and she immediately left work since then.

she's been dealing with grief. i sent the comanchock bay and shark after being notified by stockton police about a potential serial killer investigation connecting johnny's death to five others and one survivor at the moment. she says that she's considering moving out of stockton given that she still has a daughter and is afraid for her safety as her sons ashes lay in her living room. vidienna is making one last request. so kevin kayo joseph she knows that although sometimes people want to avoid having problems. she's asking anyone who may know anything about her son's murder to come forward in stockton marisela de la cruz. happening tonight a vigil is planned for a merced family found dead yesterday after they were kidnapped. meanwhile new details are coming out about the suspect in their deaths a family spokesperson says jesus manuel salgado worked for the sing family's trucking business a couple years ago. there was a disagreement and they parted ways salgado remains

in the hospital tonight after authorities. say he tried to kill himself new developments a suspect has been arrested following a series of attempted kidnappings berkeley police say there have been at least four similar attempted kidnapping cases all of these incidents happen in august and september involving teenagers ages 12 to 15 officers arrested the suspect yesterday a 36 year old berkeley woman for attempted kidnapping and three counts of molestation. berkeley police are also investigating a shooting that happened just after six o'clock this morning. they say a man woke up to sounds of sawing outside his home on oak street in glen avenue when he walked outside. he found two people trying to steal the catalytic converter off his vehicle. he yelled at them and that's when one of them opened fire fortunately. no one was injured. this incident comes though. just days after a man in oakland's glenview neighborhood was shot and killed while interrupting catalytic converter thieves. there's a new effort to crack down on sideshows across the bay area the san francisco municipal

transportation agency installed speed bumps in the middle of an intersection. these are at plymouth avenue and sadawa street in the city's ocean view neighborhood. oakland is trying a similar plan abc 7 news spoke today with oakland mayor libby schaaf about the effort to crack down on these side shows trying to engineer the prevention of sideshows and other cities have definitely been asking us about how these things have worked center lines that are hardened. the new rubber speed bumps that can be installed rapidly as well as these bot dots that make it harder to do the donuts and the intersections. the san francisco municipal transportation agency says it will weigh the effectiveness of the sideshow speed bumps and determine if there is a need for more of them. after not having any issues for the first 13 years of business a store in san jose has been dealing with multiple break-ins over the past year abc 7 news reporter. dustin dorsey says the owner has advice for other small businesses as a holiday season

approaches. batteries and bulbs on stevens creek has been keeping customers charged and ready for 14 years in san jose, but after a rash of break-ins and crimes this store that specializes in power is finding it hard to keep the lights on we need to make sure that our staff is safe. our customers are safe and if we can't assure that then what what's the point of continuing on surveillance footage shows a few of them major incidents that the store and owner neil dorward have dealt with since last november the front of the store has been shot out by a pellet gun and smashed by a rock as someone ran into steal from the register at the back of the store groups of broken in multiple times. so it started in june when we discovered that our gate had been clipped and then in july, this is where they actually came in and took some batteries of ours and finally they went for the entrance this happened over a period of two months. it came back about 10 times all incidents leading to thousands

to fast forward to next week a trough is going to develop it's going to dig down and as it does winds are going to switch offshore as that happens. we're going to see the potential for fire danger increasing certainly. we'll see some showers in southern california and in the sierra, but this is what we're concerned about is the offshore winds around this time of year drying out the fuels the accuweather 7-day forecast. it's fine flying weather for the blue angels the next couple of days you're looking at mid-60s to mid 90s tomorrow temperatures dialing back a tiny bit on saturday, but it is a cooler forecast for sunday in the clouds could make it a little problematic. i think overall though the weather cooperates the winds pick up next week. it is going to be below average for many parts of the bay area, but the concern is the fire danger and then obviously, yeah, absolutely. thanks. it is the end of an era for legendary bay area talk radio station. kgo 810, but what's to come next is still unclear the news talk
