ama: we have angels among us this weekend. the dazzling air show is back for fleet week which is expected to drive tens of thousands of people to san francisco. good evening and thank you for joining us. dan: one of the biggest weekends of the year got off to a roaring start today. several event were happening around the city. abc7news reporter tim johns has a look at some of the festivities. reporter: the sounds of fleet week were on display friday in san francisco. from the ship parade to live music, even the airshows famous blue angels. >> they are so fast. it's amazing. reporter: locals and tourists came out to see the festivities happening around the city. julia raines and her husband are from tennessee.

>> to see all the military people, the planes, the parade of ships. it's beautiful. reporter: dozens gathered to watch a performance put on by one of the navy bands. fleet week has been one of the most exciting things on the bay area social calendar. it holds a deeper meaning for many servicemen and women. the band's lead singer believes they can player special role in fostering that relationship. >> everybody loves music. we are a gateway to loving the navy. you love our band, the navy, then you get behind it. reporter: many might feel the polarization of politics. people safely week remains an event that helps unite all americans. >> and a time like this when we are so divided, this is one event that brings us together. that's wonderful. reporter: abc7news. dan: just great stuff today.

will we be able to see the airshow over the weekend? ama: sandhya patel is here with the forecast. sandhya: absolutely they will be able to get a great glimpse of the blue angels taking high up. take a look at this live picture. it's a foggy view on the golden gate we have thick fog along the coast. they know how to fly above the marine version. here's a look at the forecast. 60 degrees tomorrow morning. fog around. 62 by 1:00. mainly sunny for the afternoon. breezy and cooler by the time we head into 7:00. if you are going out for later fleet week festivities in the day, definitely grab a jacket. if you are out early in the morning, have that extra layer. i will be back with the second half of the forecast coming right up. dan: thanks. for all information, abc7news

has you covered. watch the airshows live from the comfort of your home. had to the abc7news app. you will be able to find a full schedule of the other festivities. ama: four vigils for four lives lost. for the second night in a row, a vigil held tonight in merced to honor the family who was kidnapped and found dead this week. prayers and comfort shared with members of the community ahead of two more vigils this weekend. one mother tonight shared her own experience. >> i want to send my condolences to the family. being a mother, i know how they feel. ama: alberto salgado was arrested last night. he was booked on charges of criminal conspiracy, accessory, and destroying evidence. dan: with the holiday season

approaching, another covid surge could be on the way. countries in europe are seeing a rise in infections. health experts caution, the u.s. could be the next to see a spike. >> there are tools available for prevention and treatment but that doesn't mean we should dismiss the fact that we still see thousands of people test positive every single week with hundreds dying every single day. dan: that's the reality. more people are gathering inside which makes the risk of covid infections higher. current vaccines are helping. the number of infections and deaths continues to decrease. scientists are watching for any new subvariants. there's no need to shut down but individual should continue to live their lives while we also do everything we can to stay prepared. ama: governor newsom announced he plans to call a special legislative session to address the states high gas prices. it will include his proposal to create a windfall tax on the

profits oil companies make up your get the session is scheduled for december 5, the same day legislators are expected to be sworn into office after the election. millions of dollars in gas price relief has started hitting the bank accounts of california residents. one-time payments are going out to 23 million taxpayers. how much do you get and how much you get depends on your 2020 tax return. >> i think it's great. this is the highest inflation in 67 years. it is well needed. ama: in all, the state will pay out $9.5 billion. the gas tax rebates will ultimately drive gas prices even higher. harvard professor recently tweeted, these inflation relief payments will export inflation to the rest of the u.s. with some showing up in california.

dan: the warriors have a decision to make. what type of punishment is warranted after draymond green punched jordan poole wednesday? ama: the team is investigating who leaked the video to tmc. dan: larry beil is here with more on this story. larry: there's a lot going on. draymond green is expected to return to practice tomorrow after sitting out the past couple days. will he publicly apologized for punching him? we will see. video was leaked to tmc. raymonde walking up, nose to nose with jordan poole, shoving him away. then raymonde punches him in the face. the team initially said it would handle andy discipline internally. is that even possible after the whole world has seen this video? complicating this is the fact that pool is expected to sign a contract extension in the neighborhood of $100 million or more. he's part of the future.

raymonde is approaching the twilight of his career. what a fine satisfy him or does he want to see something harsher? understand one thing. in sports, skirmishes happen all the time but rarely do they get to this level. can the warriors put all of this in the rearview mirror or does this hangover the season like the clash that we saw a few years ago? so much to sort out including the possibility that the mba could get involved in deciding punishment. there's precedent for that. whatever is decided, it could have an impact on the warriors ability to defend their championship. more coming up in sports. dan: it's a shame to see. larry: it's unfortunate. didn't have to happen. dan: a bad smell affecting crockett residents. it's attributed to hydrogen sulfide coming from the crockett wastewater treatment plant. county health officials say the

smell isn't a sign of a health risk. it's obviously not pleasant. levels tested today were high enough to cause a public health concern. people can suffer headaches, nausea, irritated eyes. a member of the crockett improvement association talks with abc7news today. >> it has affected people's health. businesses have closed. people have lost out on revenue. it's a very big nuisance. dan: the smell is dude to an ongoing operational issue at the plant but they are investigating. a town hall meeting will be held next thursday at a local community center on pomona street. ama: the power of purple. why landmarks are lit up in this color and the message it symbolizes. dan: heads must roll. those are the words coming from san jose's mayor tonight. the incident involving a fire truck that has ignited an investigation. >> a look at jimmy kimmel live

survivor advocacy agencies are getting out the message, hoping to move closer to a world without abuse. amanda del castillo yo has a look at the effort from the south bay. reporter: advocates and allies. many in purple, marching from san jose's circle of palms to city hall. a demonstration centered around domestic violence awareness. >> look at all the support. when you see that purple, know that the fight is real. everybody who has ever been affected by it. reporter: a crowd of dozens marched through downtown. >> stop the violence. reporter: the group passing san jose state's olympic black power statue. the group next-door solutions to domestic violence says there's great significance in recognizing the silent protest made at the 1968 mexico city olympics. >> i think it's important that we honor where we've been and the folks that are social justice that have brought us here before.

it seems fitting for us to go through thatamsnd go right by those statues. reporter: henderson breaks down the stats. men, one in three teens, and one into lgbtq individuals experience domestic violence. at city hall, a rally and resource fair with santa clara county agencies. >> we want to break the stigma and we want to tell community members, no matter which community they are from, that we are here. >> it is pretty significant. it represents a lot of these groups, overcoming. >> we've seen a tremendous positive shift in the community, in their attitudes towards this issue. also towards support of this issue. reporter: support needed now. over the covid-19 pandemic, there was an 8% increase in domestic violence cases across

the country. the south bay community friday sharing what the effort signals to them. >> for me, it's about remembrance for the folks we've lost and the fact that we have to hold hope to move forward. reporter: abc7news. ama: if you know someone looking for information on domestic violence, check out our resource page at abc7news.com. dan: first lady jill biden made a stop in san francisco today in support of breast cancer research. she got a tour of ucsf's cancer center to see some of the advances being made in breast cancer research. the visit is part of the biden ministrations cancer moonshot initiative which gives federal resources to help speed up cancer research. the first praise cancer survivors taking part in clinical trials. >> i think it is so hard to go through all the treatments that you have to go through and having the disease of cancer, and then to be asked to be in a clinical trial.

it takes a lot of courage. you've been through so much already. dan: later in the afternoon, the first lady delivered a speech at an event hosted by the democratic congressional campaign committee. video making the rounds on social media big-time, showing a scantily clad woman getting out of the san jose fire truck and walking into a strip club. an investigation is underway and there has been a strong response from the mayor's office. zach fuentes has the story. reporter: the video shared on instagram thursday night was taken in front of san jose's pink poodle dog club in the city's burbank neighborhood. a fire truck was parked on the street. the video shows a woman in a bikini getting out of the cap and walking to the entrance of the club. abc 7 has not gotten permission from the person who shot the video to show it but city leaders have seen it and they are not happy with what they saw. the fire chief released a statement saying, the department

has become aware of concerning video posted on social media and an investigation has been initiated to determine the facts surrounding the video. the san jose mayor issued a statement saying, if the investigation concludes that this video is as bad as it looks come heads must roll. we can't have a life critical emergency rescue apparatus regulated to a frat party bus nor tolerate any conduct. i trust that the fire chief respond accordingly. no one was talking, no one returned our calls, the person working at the establishment did not want to comment on the video. vince owns the business next door and says they've been great neighbors but he's concerned about the video. >> somebody is having a good time on city funds that we pay good tax dollars four. we've got crime in the area. i have to spend 30 minutes at the store to keep people from breaking in.

vandalizing and all the problems we have. this is what we are focusing on. reporter: the city has a code of ethics policy guides that applies to city employees. we ask the san jose fire department what their policy is regarding civilians in a fire engine and they haven't bonded to our request. they said that if an internal investigation reveals inappropriate behavior, appropriate steps will be taken to address the matter. abc7news. ama: in the east bay, there was a large turnout tonight for the armenian food festival. people filled the church in oakland inside and outside to sample food. there's also music and dancing. this is the 67th year the festival has been held and it is billed as one of the largest in the east bay. if you missed out, there's always tomorrow. it starts at noon and goes until 11:00. dan: let's turn our attention to the weekend forecast. ama: lots going on.

sandhya: fleet week festivities, the blues, the blue angels kicking up to the sky. i would like to know why we weren't invited to the armenian festival. they have delicious desserts. let me show you the time lapse from earlier this afternoon when the blue angels took to the skies. it was quite a show about that fog that was down below. they know how to do their stuff. really staying above the marine inversion. they will have no problems this weekend because they know what they're doing. here's a look at the weekend. fleet week forecast. 66 degrees for the afternoon. nice for the air show. mid-50's to start the morning. fog sunday and cooler, 64 degrees. fog over san francisco tonight. air quality tomorrow, mostly moderate. good in the north bay. by sunday, a sea breeze comes in. on live doppler 7, we have the

fog sitting near the coastline. visibility is poor with dense fog, down to a quarter mile and. temperatures in the 50's and 60's unless you are out towards brentwood. our natural ac coming in tonight from our mount tam cam. you can see it shrouding the transamerica pyramid. nice weather for the blue angels tomorrow. breezy and below-average start to early next week. first thing in the morning, fog and spotty drizzle. into the lunch hour, it will be nice. inland areas in the 70's and 80's. near the coast, it will stay cool in the 50's. inland areas warming up into the 90's. morning temperatures will start off in the comfortable zone. most areas at 50's and 60's. it's good sleeping weather at night. saturday afternoon, highs at 82 in san jose. 77 in sunnyvale.

78 in redwood city. pacifica at 63. it's going to be breezy at the coast but not terribly windy. north bay at 84. stinson beach at 64 degrees. 73 in oakland. 78 in fremont. inland up to 92. sunday is a little bit cooler. most areas dropping out of the 90's. monday is similar. tuesday, low 80's inland. that's going to be below-average. nice weather for the airshow. accuweather 7 day will feature only 80's inland. 60's cosine. cooling through tuesday before we start to notice an uptick in those temperatures. warming back up again for the middle and latter part of the work week. should be nice weather. dan:

dan: a two-year-old toddler has become a social media hit for his impressive cheerleader moves. he was captured on video cheering on the sidelines of a videogame. ama: so cute. he nails just about every move. a little jump at the end there. their mom wrote that he learned the moves after watching his sister practice over and over again in the living room. adorable. dan: way to go. that's cool. the warriors have a big decision to make. ama: larry beil is here for sports. larry: decision day looming for the war years. how do they disciplined draymond green after punching teammate jordan if you haven't tried dawn powerwash dish spray, what are you waiting for?

pu'u keka'a, which is the sheraton black rock. while walking on the boardwalk, you will pass these resorts, and also a favorite place people always like is whalers village. >> sheraton maui resort & spa was actually the first resort that opened in kaanapali back in 1963. so we have this prime location right at pu'u keka'a, which is a historic landmark in hawaiian culture. every evening at sunset, you can take in the nightly cliff-dive ritual, which celebrates and honors the last chief of maui, kahekili, who used to leap from the same spot to prove his spiritual strength to his warriors. i typically recommend for guests that are looking for more of a luxury/romance experience to stay up in our moana oceanfront building. it's perched right on the back side of black rock with the most panoramic ocean views of the pacific and also of molokai and lanai in the distance. it's also the best spot for whale season. so you can sit right on your lanai, use some binoculars, and see the whales breaching right out front.
