russian president declared an explosion on russia's bridge to crimea a terrorist attack. jobina: vladimir putin is warning of further strikes if ukraine continues to hit russian targets. we have new video of the attacks in the ukrainian capital of kyiv. it shows one of the attacks targeting a pedestrian bridge. volodymyr zelenskyy confirms the explosions are from russian missile attacks, saying russia is trying to "wipe us all up the pace of the earth." it comes as ukrainian city is reeling from a russian missile strike yesterday. 17 people were killed. president zelenskyy called the strike absolutely people. the strikes appear to be in retaliation for saturday's bridge of explosion. vladimir putin is saying it was an act of terrorism. we are also hearing from the white house after president biden warned of potential nuclear armageddon amid prudence

threat. >> what the president was reflecting is that the stakes are high given what is going on in the battlefield with ukraine and given the irresponsible and reckless comments made with vladimir putin in the last few days. jobina: vladimir putin has appointed a new general to oversee operations in ukraine. he is best known for total ruthlessness during bombing campaigns in syria. kumasi: this morning we are hearing from family members of the family that was kidnapped and killed in merced as they held the last of four vigils for the family. gloria rodriguez joining us in the newsroom with more on this. gloria: family member same community support has been amazing but they are still struggling as they deal with the loss of the eight-month-old baby , her parents, and her on-call. the community gathered in merced for the fourth vigil in memory of the family, one vigil from east of the victims.

-- from each of the victims. the bodies were found last wednesday in an orchard. they had been kidnapped four days before that. for the first time relatives went back to the trucking company the family owns where they were kidnapped. two family members went into a trailer and found the baby shoe. >> we just walked in for the first time and saw her shoe on the floor. >> babies are off-limits. the baby was off-limits. coming here i have so much anger , so much anger for what i saw inside this trailer. gloria: they state is heartbreaking to see their cousins were so excited about creating the american dream after immigrating hearing the 2000s. the electric kidnapper has been arrested on four counts of murder. deputy say he tried killing

himself before being taken into custody and his brother has also been arrested. he is accused of criminal conspiracy, accessory, and destroying evidence. reggie: dozens of people who live in a flooded san francisco high-rise are now suing the building's owner and accusing the real estate company that owns the building of mishandling two massive water leaks. abc7news reporter has been covering this for months. about 400 residents were forced out of the apartment building in june after the second flood. the building uninhabitable until next year. kumasi: oakland police were breaking up two sideshows early yesterday morning. this is the first at 42nd and foothill. at least 50 vehicles were involved. while officers responded to this

getting ready for the weigh off expected to start around 7:00 this morning. these pumpkins are massive sitting in the back pickup trucks. this is the 49th year farmers will be competing for not only bragging rights but an enormous payout. the winner gets $9,000 a pound and there is a $30,000 maker prize that will go to anyone who breaks the world record. right now that belongs to an italian man who grew up pumpkin weighing in at 2700 pounds. today's pumpkin weighing kicks off the half moon bay art and pumpkin festival happening on saturday and sunday this weekend. they are recording for their golden anniversary, back for the first time in two years since being sidelined by the pandemic. doors open at 9:00 on both days and that is when you will have the opportunity to see the winning pumpkin in person and take a couple extra photos.

winning a majority in the house but just a 33% chance of winning back the senate. reggie: in san francisco is election season. 34 ballot drop off boxes are now open across the city. the ballots will be open until 8:00 election day. you can find locations at sfelections.org. you could also return your vote by mail ballots through the mail or go to city hall at their voting center, it opens tomorrow. kumasi: no arrests have been made in a deadly shooting near the uc berkeley campus. we know one person died and three other people were hurt. reggie: this happened just after 1:30 less than two blocks from campus. uc berkeley issued a statement saying the shooting occurred during a fight and no students were involved and there is no connection to the campus. people nearby described the scene. >> it was crazy.

everyone was everywhere. i called my homie and i was like what is happening. >> we heard something i thought was fireworks. it was eight rounds. we ran inside taco bell because we were not sure what was going on. reggie: anyone with information about the shooting or surveillance video showing the suspects is asked to call berkeley police. an update to a brazen attempt at carjacking in a poppel -- in a popular san francisco center. video sews two people running away from the shopping center shortly after shots rang out. the person who shot this video heard gunshots and started recording. the shooting happened in a parking lot. the driver of the blue honda was not hurt and did get away. there have been no arrests. kumasi: another rape has been reported on stanford campus.

we are starting to see these massive pumpkins rolling onto main street in half moon bay. i want to pull in one of the farmers, the first farmer to pull into half moon bay, all of the way from oregon. this is steve, he has been participating in this event often on for 40 years. talk to us about how you are doing, what your thoughts are on your pumpkin for this year? >> you never know how you are doing. getting a pumpkin to the weigh off, that is the goal. if it is big as a bonus. to get a pumpkin and be part of the event means you have done something right. lena: and we were just talking off-camera, you drove down yesterday, what was the drive like transporting this massive pumpkin? >> when it is covered up is not bad, it is the drive home that is interesting because we do not cover them, and that is when he gets the attention of all of the people on the road.
